22.01.2022 Pig food This is what I feed my pigs with fruit and vegetables everyday. They love it, and it covers the vitamins and minerals they need without the extra fat that pig pellets have. It’s available from pet stock, and most other feed stocks. There is also other brands available

21.01.2022 Sunscreen for pigs Available from pet stock, most stock feeds and some vets. It’s important to put sunscreen on any pigs that have pink skin anywhere as they get burnt very easily. And they usually can’t cover all of their pink areas with mud to protect them

18.01.2022 Pigs love to play just like dogs, it’s important for them to have something to play with otherwise they can become quite destructive especially if they don’t have another pig with them. This is a dog bed that wasn’t a good idea, as they ended up ripping it in to pieces just like dogs do. But after that, I now give them the empty chaff bags to play with and they love it.

07.01.2022 Lectade - For Dehydrated pigs If pigs become extremely dehydrated it can cause brain damage, and pigs can become dehydrated very easily. Every pig owner should always have one on these on hand, if your pig is dehydrated, has diarrhea or won’t drink much water due to illness. I found they love it, but piglets not so much and when they are sick. But when they won’t drink it, I have had to syringe it into their mouth. Can also be used for cats, dogs, horses and other animals for the same reasons. It’s the animal version of hydrolyte/gastrolyte or Powerade for people, available at most vet clinics and Stockfeeds. Also at Petstock and on eBay online stores.

06.01.2022 It's a nice day for some mud It is important for pigs to have access to mud and water that they can roll in. As they can't sweat when it's hot so this will help them keep cool, and also the mud provides protection from the sun like sunscreen does for us. The blue shell/pool can be bought from bunnings for around $15, and the mud hole my pigs dug their own. Otherwise just dig one for them and keep filling with water. Today in Geelong Vic, it's only 19 degrees and mine have already been in the mud. So it doesn't have to be that hot for them to need to cool off, or protect themselves from the sun.

02.01.2022 Vets for pigs (available after hours if needed 24/7, and they can come to you if you can’t get your pig to the clinic) For people that are in the Geelong region, this is the vet clinic I have been using for years. The staff are great, and the vets are extremely good and patient with treating pigs. And if you have ever been unfortunate enough to have a sick pig, you will know how difficult it can be to treat them.
