24.01.2022 Spring! With today being the first day of spring, We here at Fire + Rescue Minmi thought we’d help you spring into the right direction for this years up coming bushfire season So let’s get started! let’s think about where you live! Do I live in and around the bush? ... Or Is my property in a more grass land setting? Or Am i on more of a coastal setting? Or Do I live on a farm/paddock? Or Am I actually living in a valley or hilly area? Where you live is a critical factor when planning your plan! Now is the time to prepare around your home and block. Keeping a clean property is vital when your home becomes under threat as a bushfire front approaches. Have a clean block can help firefighters with property protection. The alert levels The alert levels become very important when deciding to action your bushfire survival plan. Advice - A fire has started. There is no immediate danger. Stay up to date in case the situation changes. Watch and Act - There is a heightened level of threat. Conditions are changing and you need to start taking action to protect you and your family. Emergency Warning - An Emergency Warning is the highest level of Bush Fire Alert. You may be in danger and need to take action immediately. Any delay now puts your life at risk. Okay keeping up? Because this is important! Now let’s discuss your bushfire survival plan a little further. Are you staying or are you leaving? If you stay ask yourself, Am I prepared? Is my property prepared? Do I have the right equipment? Or If your plan is to leave have we thought about What will you take? When will you leave? Where will you go? Who am I going to notify once I’m leaving? Some many things to think about and plan right? Down below is a link to a Bushfire Survival Plan that you can download, print off and fill out so you can PLAN! And keep the plan with your bushfire survival plan kit. 24.01.2022 Last night at 20:11 The Rehabilitation unit from Minmi was sent to a 4th Alarm Structure Fire at Gateshead, Lake Macquarie where a car dealership was partially destroyed

23.01.2022 It’s been a pretty busy 24hrs for station 377 and other surrounding stations, with our crew attending a 3rd alarm structure fire in parry street Newcastle at 12:30am on Wednesday morning where a shop was totally destroyed by fire. Well done by fire crews on protecting other surrounding buildings from fire damage, later that day at 6:30pm station 484 and station 377 attended a fire at the Wallsend post office, a fire was extinguished in the post office and the post office and shopping centre suffered some smoke damage. REMEMBER when your smoke alarm sounds you evacuate your home so why wouldn’t you evacuate a shopping centre when the fire alarm is sounding?
