15.01.2022 Another win at the Ekka! Minnamurra were amongst the winners at the RNA paddock to palate awards last night, taking out the Champion Carcase in the 100 day HGP Free Class, as well as third overall for a pen of 6 carcases. (A total of 150 steers were entered into this class). The winning carcase was by Minnamurra Jaguar J156 out of one of our Te Mania blood Angus cows. A very pleasing result considering we had sold virtually all our Speckle cross calves as weaners, due to the drought, and the few we retained were paddock fed right up to the entry weight, with no supplementary feeding at all. More proof of how well Speckle Park cattle do in dry conditions, and what a great meat cross Speckle x Angus is.

15.01.2022 Lot 1 Minnamurra Postmaster P206 has been deemed eligible and will be sold as a registered bull. You may have noticed in our catalogue that he has a white fleck on his rear hoof. The SPI board have clarified that there is no rule at the moment around hoof pigmentation. This is great news. He is a fine example of a Putnam son, well balanced with plenty of muscle depth through the lower leg.

13.01.2022 Some of our new drop of Speckle/Angus cross calves by Minnamurra Leander L81. We have 160 on the ground and will be selecting the lead out of the steer portion to go in the feedback trials next year. We’re very happy with what we see so far.

10.01.2022 The first of our ‘S’ calves was born of Friday, out of a So Long George first calving heifer, MPC P172. He’s a Rawhide bull calf, first cab of the rank of the roughly 300 ‘S’ calves we are expecting to calve down in 2021.

08.01.2022 We are really impressed by this yearling bull, Quicksilver Q2. Hes by Whiskey out of 300X Unique J73 and full brother to Nero N15, the top priced bull in our Autumn 2018 sale. The Stands Alone x Unique 8R cross has produced some really great cows and we still have eight in our herd. All Quicksilvers EBVs are in the top 5% of the breed - youll probably see him in next years sale!

03.01.2022 A nice photo of Whiskey 4B taken recently at Dave & Justin Johners farm at Maidstone, Saskatchewan. Hes doing a great job stamping both his bull calves and, more importantly, his heifers. We have 35 of his sons in our upcoming sale on September 4th.

03.01.2022 Dr Chris Hallet inseminating 110 cows with River Hill Crusader 025C semen, set to calve next March/April. Crusader holds the world record for the highest priced Speckle Park Bull, and these calves will be his first Australian progeny.

01.01.2022 Now that the drought has broken, our ET program is back in full swing. Here is Dr Stuart Geard and Amanda Pincott of Holbrook Breeders implanting embryos at our Mount Mill yards earlier in the week. They successfully implanted 175 embryos, all having been flushed from our Minnamurra cows, using sires Whiskey, Crusader, Rawhide and Unmarked. A very successful two days work.
