25.01.2022 *** BIG Day Indeed! *** . With the governments announcement of Covid-19 stimulus extensions JobKeeper and JobSeeker. Lets break it down into simple english. . JobKeeper extended but reduced:... . -> For full time eligible employees from end September to $1,200, and from start January to end March to $1,000 per fortnight. . -> For part time eligible employees (less than 20 hours per week) from end September to $750, and from start January to end March to $650 per fortnight. . Businesses will need to be re-tested for JobKeeper eligibility at end September and start January, with turnover downturn percentages the same as before. . Businesses will also need to prove the decline in turnover for all quarters previous to their re-test, to be eligible for JobKeeper extensions. . 22.01.2022 *** ATO Data Transparency! *** . Talk about MAJOR changes in the area of ATO access to payroll data. . The introduction of STP (Single Touch Payroll) means that the ATO receives your payroll information as soon as it is processed, filed and paid to you by your employer.... . Your ATO online services account (via myGov) shows the year-to-date tax and super payments made by your employer since the start of the financial year. . A crucial area that fell short with the old system is Super. STP filing holds employers accountable to super contributions as required by law, AND makes your contributions easy to track through your ATO online account. . Now STP came along well before Covid, but the pandemic heightened the pace of its implementation, without excuses for businesses to comply who were not yet on board. . Digital business means the ATO sees everything, and with STP the data arrives as it happens. . Be mindful of STP lodgement accuracy. Clicking "File" in cloud software might seem like - job done! But multiple mistakes and lodgement amendments are likely to lead to an ATO audit. . What has come into play however is the extension of eligible employee conditions, which captures employees on payroll at 1 July 2020, previously 1 March.... . When the Partner and Manager of an Accounting Firm are carrying out admin tasks because they are responsible for workflow delegation to team - something has to change. And the same goes for small business owners. The first action that comes to mind is HIRE! Then you go full circle only to find that your admin hire doesnt want to do admin. Sound fa...miliar!? Well before you fall for this kind of energy stealing strategy, how about working towards automation, and doing away with those admin tasks forever. 12.01.2022 Don't turn to credit! On the back of our discussion on Christmas spending earlier in the week, we saw another great post about gift giving during the Christmas season. In essence, it said that you should never go into debt to show people how much you love them. We couldn’t agree more! In this country, many people have a spending addiction. Always remember our mantra - We cannot have what we cannot afford! Debt funding is best used to acquire assets that go up in value, not down. Credit Cards are an addictive form of debt and will leave you constantly trying to catch up to the positive. Keep an eye on our website and socials in the coming weeks we will be discussing the dangers of credit in more detail.
