25.01.2022 "Western Australias response to poverty and homelessness is imprisonment." Today, wed like to shine a light on the work of @debkilroy s Sisters Inside and the FreeHer campaign. The below is from the GoFundMe page that can be found at: https://buff.ly/36S9xBf "Western Australia refuses to change the laws where people who have no criminal convictions are imprisoned if they do not have the capacity to pay a fine. People are languishing in prison for not being able to pay th...eir fines. Single Aboriginal mothers make up the majority of those in prison who do not have the capacity to pay fines. They are living in absolute poverty and cannot afford food and shelter for their children let alone pay a fine. They will never have the financial capacity to pay a fine. So we would like 10,000 donors to raise funds to free women from prison and have warrants vacated. If you can financially assist this movement it would be greatly appreciated. The funds will only be used to release people from prison or pay outstanding warrants. After donating please contact the Attorney General Honourable John Quigley on his email [email protected] and demand that these discriminatory laws be repealed as a matter of urgency. The WA Government must not use prison as the default response to poverty and homelessness and no one should be imprisoned because they cannot afford to pay a fine. This campaign has been set up by Debbie Kilroy, CEO of Sisters Inside Inc. The funds raised will be used to release people from prison and pay warrants so they are not imprisoned." 01.01.2022 Its our 4th Birthday! Today 4 years ago we registered the first iteration of Minnow Designs with ASIC. We were still stuffing every bootie, packing every box and typing everyones addresses individually into a mail merge to print labels. We still hadnt realised that #beachbootie means something very different in the USA vs Australia We were babies with babies and we had so much to learn (not all of it fun!). In the 4 years since weve taken Minnow from a corner of Lorra...ines spare room to warehouses in 3 countries, were helping grow the revenues of hundreds of retailers all around the world and we no longer kid ourselves that its a smart idea to start a business for the lifestyle We still have a long way to go and were a long way off fulfilling our big ambitions. However I pinch myself every day that I get to work with one of the best people I know, making adorable products that make a day of play easier for parents & more fun for kids.
