11.01.2022 *TRIGGER WARNING* I am deeply saddened to learn overnight that another teenager within our community has ended their life. My heart breaks for all families and friends affected. I am not aware of the details nor is it any of my business. What I do know is a teenager very dear to me has recently been subject to bullying and has also attempted to end her life. Teenagers (along with children and adults) can find it hard to escape bullying these days when social media is used as ...a bullying tool. During my school years, there were bullies, just like there are now but it was different. The bully would make a comment on the school grounds, the child would go home to their loving, safe environment and escape the bully. These days, when bullying is taken to online social media platforms, it not only follows the child home but it can be made public to others on social media. Within minutes, social media can reach others at a much faster pace than physically possible within a school ground. Do we need to do more?! We require a licence and training to drive a car and so we should. If we’re not well educated on the road rules and how to operate a vehicle, we put others' lives at risk. Do we need a licence and training before creating a social media account? I don’t know! I remember when I first signed up to social media platforms many many years ago, I was clueless about its true capabilities. Children and teenagers could also be clueless about the damage one comment can make. We all have feelings, no matter what our age. It doesn’t cost us anything to be kind to others. However, we do require education as children and adults on how to be kind. As a child, you don’t always understand the impact one unkind word can have. Even as adults, some fail to be kind too. You only need to visit a Facebook group to see how cruel some adults treat other members. Things need to change to save lives and I know there are people actively working towards this. Thank you to all of those who speak at schools about bullying and social media, who write children’s books about bullying, who create organisations and foundations to raise awareness and provide education about bullying and social media. You are all amazing people working on a great cause! Social media has its place. It allows loved ones to connect from all around the world and it’s a valuable marketing tool for businesses. We just need to choose our words wisely on these platforms. We can all do our part to spread more kindness in the world and there’s no better time than now! Love Lisa x

02.01.2022 Why make your work life any more complicated than it needs to be. Implement systems and processes that simplify life. If you’re using an accounting program that’s hard to understand - try Xero. If staff are refusing to use your current database program due to its complexity - simplify it or find a new one. Don’t start your regular emails and letters from scratch every time - template these. ... Our above suggestions can help you to work SMARTER at work, instead of HARDER. At ...times, as humans, we lack trust in simplicity. For example: We may think a templated email is not personal, or won’t save us time. But yet on numerous occasions we have witnessed how much time is saved following someone’s misperception. You can still personalise templated emails and we recommend you do. Templates are great for providing quotes or instructions to clients/customers. Take a look at your recently emailed quotes... compare them against each other... do you see a pattern in your emails?! If yes, template it! ... If you need help to improve productivity and efficiencies within your business, DM us! We’d love to help See more
