25.01.2022 Ginger Megs doesn’t like people much but he’s never forgotten who the grandkids are. As soon as he see them he hops straight to them totally relaxed. Beautiful!

25.01.2022 Don’t you love the way Ginger Megs crosses his hands over my knee as he drinks his bottle?! Plus his contented sigh!

25.01.2022 Sun baking magpie style! She’s melted in ecstasy!!

25.01.2022 Baby bird season continued..... The Sulphur Crested Cockatoo fledgling just arrived from a Vet. He took to a spoon feed without hesitation. It must have felt so good after a day without mum feeding him!! The musk lorikeet fledgling was being attacked by birds. When I fed him a bowl of nectar a lot of dirt came out of his mouth. Just imagine how dry his throat would have been. Can’t help but feel for them! Dear little kids!!

25.01.2022 The juvenile wood ducklings and pacific black ducklings are ready for a larger area. Unable to guarantee safety from feral cats in our enclosures they went into the most expensive duck run in Australia today! The Freedom Flight has given them a safe haven to grow up in.

25.01.2022 And we are upstanding this morning!

24.01.2022 Hi guys. Channel 7 news is showing a story on our cat campaign tonight at 6 pm.

24.01.2022 Too hot outside for Ginger Megs today!! He’s back in the air conditioned hospital!!

23.01.2022 The young rainbow lorikeet with the Maggotts in the wing, has been traveling along ok albeit very quiet. Another juvenile rainbow arrived today and instantly was accepted and cherished by the older one. Isn’t it beautiful to see true comfort shared among animals with no prejudice or barriers?! Just to ‘be’ in that moment of time.

23.01.2022 I think someone has over enjoyed their Christmas cheer!?Jessica Jones

22.01.2022 Another dear little boy ringtail was found on a lawn today freezing cold. It was very windy so possibly blown out of its drey from its mum. He joins the other pair here doing very well. Unfortunately I lost the tiny wallaby Joey today. But at least we tried!

22.01.2022 I’m feeding the wallaby Joey four hourly day and night and he’s giving it his best shot. His mouth was packed with dirt and was passing some blood but that’s all cleared now.

22.01.2022 Little Boo quietly oriented himself calling his mum. Then he took off up into the tall trees. I saw an owl fly towards him just after I turned off the video. Mission accomplished!!

22.01.2022 There is no innocence purer than the innocence of a sleeping baby. ( no matter what species!)

22.01.2022 Pressure is building in South Australia for a law to make confining pet cats compulsory State-wide. Now is the time to email, phone or visit your local MP.

22.01.2022 Little Boo has had his eye bathed and treated and is on pain relief. He ate a whole mouse cut into pieces. Bit peckish this morning!?

21.01.2022 So Little Boo has come back to Minton Farm for two weeks of anti inflammatory ointment to be put into his eye twice a day. It is filled with blood so the vet was unable to see if the retina is detached yet. Let’s hope it clears and all is not lost!

21.01.2022 Another blue tongue lizard has been bitten by a dog. He has limited movement of his back legs due to deep puncture wounds. He’s on antibiotics and anti inflammatory meds.

21.01.2022 This swallow nestling fell from its nest at Noarlunga Tavern Thursday night. It’s tiny eyes are infected so it can’t see. Here I’m feeding it a mix of boiled egg, insectivore, farex, dog food and ornithon vitamins and treating its eyes with ointment.

20.01.2022 Some sense at last!?

20.01.2022 A hills person bought a new home a month ago. It had a pit in the shed with broken wooden boards over the top. He drove a car over it so his children didn’t fall in. They have just come back from a holiday and he drove the car out to wash it. He noticed a bucket of oil, that the previous owner had left down the pit, was tipped over. There in the bottom was this poor little echidna covered completely in oil. The smell is shocking. His eyes and lungs will be effected as will his organs and skin. He’s had a good warm bath in Fairy detergent and loads of activated charcoal. Hope he can recover from the ordeal lasting who knows how long?

18.01.2022 The strong winds have blown this little brushtail possum out of his nest in a palm tree and he fell through the roof of a greenhouse!! He’s in for r and r then we will get him back to his mum again. He’s had a lovely big drink of Divetelact and a good wee and now safely snoozing in a heated floored enclosure.

18.01.2022 Thankyou Rebecca for your kindness. We will use your donations to construct new echidna/ wombat facilities. Bless you. XxBev.

17.01.2022 It has been worth it to save the remaining native animals and birds in the future.

17.01.2022 Quite a few in the hospital for late night feeds and eye drops tonight! From rosellas, crested pigeons, musk and rainbow lorikeets to echidna!!

16.01.2022 Gotta love a food coma! Love the tongue out in bliss!! Orphan wallaby Joey. Up at 2am for feeds again!! Worth it when they are ok though.

16.01.2022 The blank canvas is set! All ready to begin construction of a new insulated bushfire victim rehab facility. This will benefit burnt Echidna, reptiles, turtles, wombats and birds of prey.

16.01.2022 We are indebted to Coles at Unley for donating fresh fruit and veges weekly to feed our rescued native animals. They make a huge difference to us and the environment with their dedication. Thankyou team! Coles Unley

16.01.2022 Squeaky clean and ready to roll!!

16.01.2022 Little Boo had his eye vet check this morning and the pressure in the eye is good, no discharge, no need to remove the eye and no complications!! He is keen to go home so tonight we will take him back to his territory again as the weather is good for the next few days to help him settle in again.

15.01.2022 Here’s some of EAZA members work around the world.

15.01.2022 Late last night we received this poor juvenile brushtail possum. He’s had a rough time being dragged around. His feet are covered in cuts, his eyes full of dirt and smells rank. He had a good night on meds in the incubator and a good feed this morning. Minimal wee and dry pellets so he’s very dehydrated. Cross your fingers for him.

15.01.2022 This little boys’ mum was seen in her tree looking for him last night after gusty winds dislodged him. Tonight he’s going home to be pulled up to the branch in a little basket so his mum can retrieve him again. At least it’s not windy still!

14.01.2022 Ever felt like your being watched?

14.01.2022 I’m so very pleased with the improvement in little Boo’s damaged eye. He’s eating so enthusiastically now. He’s progressed to a large flight cage so he can exercise those dear little wings!

14.01.2022 We tried to reunite this dear little brushtail possum with his mum but it wasn’t successful. He’s come back into care here again. We’ve set him up in an aviary to grow up a bit before trying again.

13.01.2022 We are feeling better today!!

12.01.2022 This awesome dude is on his way to the eye specialist to check his injured eye. Wish him luck?!

12.01.2022 These ringtail possum joeys were found by a person that found them in their mums pouch after her top half was eaten by something. Could have been a bird of prey, cat, fox or dog. Unfortunately the babies are too small to survive.

12.01.2022 This is today’s Advertiser article about us standing up for wildlife by getting 24/7 cat containment enforced by Councils.

12.01.2022 Brad, from the Pit, has turned his room upside down , eaten us out of house and home, and like any teenager is ready to see the world! He’s going back home to Ironbank today! One very lucky boy!

11.01.2022 Have you lost an adult rainbow lorikeet pet? This fella was tapping at an Ironbank residence all afternoon yesterday to come inside!! They have brought him to Minton Farm if you are looking for him?

11.01.2022 This poor ‘young’ coot has been involved in an unfortunate oil spill on a dam. He’s been bathed and is on activated charcoal in an incubator now.

07.01.2022 Interesting reading courtesy of David Mussared about eradicating cats on Macquarie Island has turned out to be a huge success. Rats, rabbits and mice were also eradicated from the island by 2014, and the native wildlife and flora on the Island are now bouncing back. The Macquarie Island success in eliminating cats and other introduced animals is now being used as a model for other islands. https://www.theaustralian.com.au//ed36d1f7072769f0fd19bdf5

07.01.2022 I would like to let you know that Minton Farm is still providing our free community service to assist injured wildlife. Other programs are currently scaled back whilst we devote our time to standing up for those that have no voice but desperately need our assistance. They have been silenced for too long.

07.01.2022 Here’s the link to the news story about introducing 24/7 cat containment. Thnx Tom Nelson. After 20 years of trying to help our wildlife I hope it will come to fruition this time!! https://youtu.be/dfVJMDFmn9Q

06.01.2022 The kookaburra nestling left at the Farm by an anonymous person, has consumed and doubled in size within a week as they do, very quickly in order to fledge the nest and survive in the wild. If we knew where he came from he could go home. Anyone got an idea of his location please?
