24.01.2022 You know those moments when you can’t find motivation? You get down on yourself, feel stuck, and frustrated and can’t seem to get past whatever event has happened to you? I get this a lot myself and over the years I’ve learnt a few things I want to share with you. 1 Forgiveness will set you free. While your feelings are totally valid, you’re only harming yourself when you hold onto resentment, guilt or shame. No amount of being bitter will get whoever it is to understand ho...w their actions effected you, nor will it fix whatever wrongdoing or misstep you feel you’ve done on the past. But, forgiveness and letting go is an active choice. You need to choose to let go with your body, mind and spirit to truly forgive, which is especially hard when you assume forgiveness means that person gets away with doing whatever they did to you (I promise, it doesn’t). You can’t rewrite the past, but you can choose what you allow to take hold of you in the present. 2 Have a plan in place (or a list) of things you can do to get out of your funk. It just has to be something that makes you feel good! A playlist A friend to talk to EFT tapping of a meditation A 5 minute dance break A walk outside An outfit A hug A creative hobby Take a moment to write a list on your phone or on paper to keep someone you can easily access and as soon as you recognise your funk, do as many of those things as you need to until you feel better. 3 Quotes & affirmations - whether you use an app (like ‘I am’), affirmation cards (like @gabriellarosie’s Bad Bitch Affirmations) or write your own, find affirmations you resonate with and again, put them somewhere you can access when you need to. Thinking positive gets a bad wrap for being unrealistic, but because our brains are hard wired to look for the bad, having reminders we can relate to around to snap us out of that negative spiral can help us to rewire our brains into more helpful patterns. Despite what your anxiety, insecurities, and other people may tell you, you are a vibrant, shining, badass, valuable human being. It is your job to remind yourself of that so you can step into all the good that life has for you. Xx Miranda

21.01.2022 Stories about your food choices? Mate, Ive heard them all. Believe it or not, a big reason we (yes, me included) get stuck eating crap we know isnt good for us is because we feel safe doing so. Challenging our negative self-beliefs and patterns can be easy to overthink, build up in our heads and decide not to challenge because our brains have evolved to look for perceived danger (ie. anything negative) and holds onto it in order to protect us. It sounds ...odd, your brain protecting you from eating well, I know, but, think about your perceptions and connotations when it comes to healthy eating: Its boring and bland Any weight I lose, Ill just put back on again Healthy food is expensive I cant live without sugar/coffee/pasta/bread/cheese/wine/etc Healthy eating is hard Healthy eating is time consuming Organic/vegan/paleo/etc is a load of crap The list goes on... If these are your fears/assumptions, why challenge yourself? Wheres the pay off? Whats the point? Why not just stay here, safe in my junk food bubble eating whatever I want but also being filled with guilt, shame, regret, and regularly experiencing anxiety, poor body image, overwhelm, bloating, acne, IBS, low motivation, PMS, water retention....? We KNOW that you cant grow without challenges. But we also need to feel some sort of safety and support in order to take leaps like these sometimes. And that is EXACTLY why I created Back to Basics. Back to Basics is a program that understands you are a product of your learned patterns and behaviours. Its a program that assumes that you may not do it perfectly, but makes that totally ok. It gives you tools and understanding to help you recognise and begin to break patterns that your brain has unnecessarily put in place to protect you in a way that makes food fun and tasty (despite being dairy, gluten, sugar & caffeine free). Back to Basics is gentle, kind and understanding. It holds your hand through this process so you can feel empowered, safe and confident. If you want in, Id love to have you. Head to mirandaswellness.com.au/programs to join (link in bio) $99 for 4 weeks. Enrolment closes 17th September. See more
20.01.2022 @ally.partridge is a preschool teacher who has been in the childhood education industry for over 10 years. She is my baby sister, and I feel very blessed because I get to access her knowledge and gentle philosophy whenever I want - its helped my parenting journey so much (even before I got pregnant). So I thought it would be a great idea to interview her and get her to answer your parenting and childhood behaviour questions. And let me tell you, I was not wrong! Not only is ...she passionate and knowledgable in this area, Ally has a knack for explaining these well researched philosophies in a way that takes away any fear of judgement you might have. With her bright mermaid hair and great sense of humour (that she obvs got from me, guys) Ally wants parents to develop a relationship with their childrens carers and help us to be ok with our kids feeling all their feelings, and I for one am here for that! This episode is unique in that it is available on all the podcast platforms as well as on YouTube, so you can listen to it whichever way you like. #tantrums #tantrums #parentingadvice #childhoodeducation #rieparenting #gentleparenting #respectfulparenting #brisbanemums #brisbanemumsandbubs #aussiemum #aussiemums #terribletwos #threenager #threenagerlife

19.01.2022 Does anyone remember when this was my Tagline? I felt this week, considering all of my content is about self-love that I brought it back again, because I loved that era when I was just starting to realise what I wanted to achieve through the medium of nutritional medicine; female empowerment from the inside, out. Yesterday in my stories I asked you to share what you love about yourselves physically, because we spend way too much time picking out the negatives. Some of the res...ponses I got just had me happy dancing: I have to admit, I really do love my legs. I am grateful that they help me squat heavy EveryF*CKINGthing My bum, my blue eyes, my hands, my back, my eye wrinkles My soft squishy belly cause it carried my baby The ability my body has to adapt to change in a positive way The more we chose to see whats good, the easiest it is to see it next time. 17.01.2022 Gelatine gummies are just one of the simple snacks I make on the reg for the whole family. I gently heat a cup of berries with a bit of water while I bloom @nutraorganics powdered gelatine in water, kombucha or coconut cream. After 10 minutes, I add the gelatine to the berries, off the heat until dissolved, whiz in the blender, pour into silicone moulds and bung em in the fridge until they set. Theyre tasty and are half way between jelly and a gummy lolly while also being... healing and anti-inflammatory to my whole body. If youve ever worked with me you know Im all about reducing inflammation for optimal and life-long health, as well as your general short term goals. 13.01.2022 It’s all about confidence, baby... That’s what we really want right? Beneath it all, even beneath that desire for acceptance, we just want to feel confident in our own skin.... Confident to be the most authentic expression of yourself, no matter what anyone else has to say about it. For me, FOOD has been a huge catalyst to allow me to find my confidence. Through food I have the building blocks I need to feel happy, motivated and calm. To manage my anxiety and have the inner strength to commit to things that are important to me. I truly believe that honing your intuition when it comes to your own nutrition is the key to opening yourself up to physical, mental, emotional and spiritual growth; those aspects that make up your confidence as a whole. Because that true inner knowing isn’t a set of strict rules or social constructs that are imposed by others. It’s honouring your body’s needs and trusting yourself - and the process - enough to keep trying. Keep experimenting. Keep learning. That’s why I love tools like meal tracking. When used the way that I use them, you’re able to learn what works best for you (hint: it’s not cutting your intake down to 1200 calories a day) and within that find the confidence and inspiration to eat the food that lights you up as often as possible. My FREE 5-day Non-Toxic Meal Tracking challenge starts Monday. It’s an incredible opportunity for you to really start to understand your body better and amplify your confidence. 08.01.2022 Hey there, its my naked legs reminding you [and me] that it is ok to slow the eff down, take some time out and LOOK AFTER YOURSELF. I know we hear about self-care all the time but honestly its because as women, we give and we give and we give to everyone but ourselves until were a resentful, exhausted, overwhelmed shell of ourselves, looking for outside validation and comfort to somehow find balance and peace. Chocolate. Wine. Coffee. Socials. TV. Shopping. Bitching about ...other people. Sugar. Lashing out at loved ones. Feeling insecure. Having a victim mentality. The list goes on... Were not great at asking for help at this time either, which kind of compounds all of the above and it bloody sucks to be honest. . So after finally taking an actual break this morning I just wanted to remind you (and ME) to honour your body and rest it properly as an essential component of self-care. Look out for those warning signs Ive detailed above and heed their warning. You will be a better and more productive, compassionate, confident and healthy you for doing so. #selfcare #bath #slowdown #rest #brisbanemums #femalehealth #womenshealth See more
08.01.2022 INSULIN RESISTANCE Its the step before type 2 diabetes, dementia and metabolic syndrome. It makes you; tired grumpy... anxious crave sugar like no ones business store extra fat around your organs and your middle store fat on your liver (ie. non-alcoholic fatty liver disease) and youll often find yourself wondering why diets and thrashing yourself at the gym doesnt help you lose weight, too. Insulin is the hormone that binds to glucose in your blood, and acts as a gatekeeper to allow glucose into the cells to be used for energy. Over time - and with lots of sugar and refined carbohydrate consumption - your cells become desensitised to insulin so instead of glucose going into cells and being used for energy, glucose continues to circulate, with insulin trying and failing to unlock those gates of your cells. Its kind of like insulin is knocking on the locked door of the cells, who have their stereo blasting; they aint gettin in. This is why you feel so tired, hungry, crabby, anxious and have UNCONTROLLABLE sugar cravings. Your cells are literally starving of energy, despite you having plenty of glucose in your blood and insulin to bind to it. So what can you do? Go to your GP and request a FASTING INSULIN blood test Tell them your symptoms and explain how they impact your life (major fatigue, irritability, inability to lose weight, uncontrollable sugar/carb cravings) If you have a family history of diabetes and dementia, mention that to your doctor and tell them how youre concerned youre going down that path Grab a copy of your test from your GP and look at the results yourself Fasting insulin of 10 and above means you are at risk of diabetes From here, you want to get your sugar consumption under control quick-smart! You can choose to go it alone , or you can choose to have me in your corner, empowering you, cheering you on and generally being your health-nerd hype-girl ! Together well find a level of health that lifts you up and celebrates what makes you, you. Who said getting healthy couldnt also be FUN?! 08.01.2022 So usually when we think of self-care, were imagining all the stuff that makes us feel good; meditation, massage, etc. But a key component of my self-care (especially lately) is really delving into my past and actively forgiving myself and anybody else who has hurt me. I am on a mission to be the best version of myself, and forgiveness - true forgiveness - has been a hard one for me, but I know it is essential to my growth and self-development. For a long time, life taught m...e to hold resentment, hold onto my pain, play the victim, and get defensive when criticised. All of which only continued to make me see the world, and especially people close to me, through that lens and attract more pain, more victimhood, and more resentment. The world, it seemed, was out to get me. I was misunderstood. I was alone. I had a hard childhood. I was broke. I was behind everyone else because I somehow missed out on some secret piece of info that everyone else was in on. And none of it my fault, goddammit! Woe, was me. Pity me. What about me?! And boy, was it as miserable as it sounds. In fact, it often still can be. But over the years Ive learnt and practiced techniques that are teaching me to let go and forgive. To give generous assumptions of the people in my life, even when what they are saying or doing has hurt me. It is of course a practice. I dont nail it every time, sometimes I dont nail it ever. But I keep trying and the growth I have seen because of that is worth the pain, frustration and impatience it brings up. Relationships and communication are getting better, and a lot of what I thought was important but isnt, is falling away naturally. More than anything, I have so much more confidence, belief in myself and willingness to get up after I fail. Some of my favourite practices: EFT/tapping on my blocks Journalling Daily gratitudes and manifestations with my #galavortex Magical Morning Practice partner Hooponopono practice to forgive myself and others Self-development podcasts and books Talking with like-minded friends who keep the vibes high whilst also keeping it real Daily yoga, EFT & tarot Astrology How often do you reflect & forgive? 07.01.2022 Why is unconditional love so much harder for ourselves, than for anyone else? I mean, think about it; do you love your partner, children, parents, friends less if theyre overweight, need a haircut, have acne, missed a day at the gym, ate chocolate when they were stressed, made a mistake? Of COURSE not! So why is it then that we strive for perfection in order to truly love ourselves? Ive seen some things saying you dont need to love your body, you just need to accept it and..., honestly, I feel like the definition of love is a little lost in translation there. To love your body is not to only see it in a positive light every second of the day. It is not to be blind to its flaws or be deliriously happy when you catch a glimpse of it in the mirror. That definition would be more infatuation, than love, if you transferred it to another person. And that is not the same as love. Loving yourself IS acceptance. Its letting go of the need to control every aspect of yourself. Its seeing yourself as a human being, who makes mistakes, who is doing their best, who is learning every day. Stop thinking that youll love yourself one day, under this, that and the other condition, and realise that right now, you can learn to love every part of yourself unconditionally. Stop looking for outside validation to prove your worth to yourself. Remember that you (and everyone else) are doing your best. You cannot know what you dont yet know until you learn it. Failure and missteps and trying again are how we improve, but we will ALWAYS be on a journey of improvement, and learning, and development. Remember that today you know so much more than you did yesterday, a month ago, a year ago, 10 years ago. Have patience, acceptance and gratitude for yourself, as much as you would anyone you love (maybe even more so). Your relationship with yourself is, after all, the only permanent one that you have. So why not be curious, experiment and witness your growth, instead of picking yourself into pieces and focusing on what you dont have? You are a Queen. Time to wear your damn crown with pride. #youareaqueen #selflove #unconditionalselflove #feminist #empowerment #empoweredwomenempowerwomen See more

04.01.2022 Just 20 minutes a day. Thats all it takes. So why does it seem so hard to get moving? I dont always have time for movement, but I always aim to fit in 20 minutes a day wherever I can. Some weeks its every day. ... Some, Im lucky if I do it once in a week. But nevertheless, I can feel the difference in my strength, as @dr.bron_osteo pointed out, its still considered consistency. It may not seem like much, but its 20 minutes more than nothing. And I know I notice how much easier it is for me to improve my posture, feel strong and have a positive mindset. We are often so stuck in our expectations with exercise (and everything) that we often just give up before weve begun or allow our disappointment stop us from keeping on. You dont have to flog yourself. You dont have to dedicate an hour (or more) each day You just have to move your body, and honestly, the gentler options like walking, yoga and swimming are often the most supportive ones, in my experience. I promise, you can find 20 minutes to do something. Release your expectations and just DO. See more

03.01.2022 When I look back on 2020, the main thing I feel is pride. I’m proud of what I and my family got through this year, how much we grew - how much my business grew! - and the person I became in the process. I’m proud of what I achieved; launched @anauthenticlifepodcast and Back to Basics both to great success, booked out my clinic a month in advance (more than once) and put up my prices to great support from you guys. I’m also proud of what my friends and family have gone throug...h, with lockdowns and business growth and babies and illness and mental illness and so, so much loss amongst us all. For the most part, we are still here, and all the more stronger for what we’ve gone through. A baptism by fire is the best way I can describe my year, and I’ve been feeling an optimistic energy about next year as 2020 has wrapped up, for everyone. I hope when you look back on this year, you see the positive amongst the tragedy. See how communities have come together, small businesses have thrived and race equality has become an issue at the forefront of so many more minds than ever before. See how you yourself have grown, what you’ve learned, and how strong and wonderful you are. Happy New Year my friends. Thank you for being a part of my community. I can’t wait to see what 2021 has in store for all of us.

01.01.2022 Believe it not, period pain is not normal. Seriously. If you’re experiencing period pain, then it’s a sign you’re out of balance in some way, & could even be a sign of an underlying conditions, like endometriosis or adenomyosis. ... So if period pain is your normal, what can you do? Cut down your sugar intake to no more than 36g per day. I get it, sugar is usually how you cope with the symptoms that come along with your periods, but baby, it is making your symptoms worse. Sugar exacerbates inflammation. More inflammation means more PAIN. If you’re stuck on how to do this, check out my free Non-Toxic Meal Tracking Challenge or join my next round of Back to Basics. Eat more greens (more vegetables, nuts and seeds in general too). At least 2 cups of green leafy vegetables a day helps soothe inflammation. Try adding a cup of spinach to your smoothie each day for a month & see if it has any affect on your period pain. But really, displacing any of the junk you would usually eat for vegetables, nuts & seeds will bring more vitamins & minerals into your diet, clear more inflammation & aid detoxification of the chemicals produced by inflammation, which in the end will help you feel great. Improve your protein intake. Most people don’t eat enough protein. Whether you eat meat or you don’t, it’s the pattern I see most in clinic, & one that can contribute not only to your pain, but many of the other symptoms around your periods (especially anxiety). Ideally, as a minimum, you want 1.5-2g per kg of body weight in your day, or a palm sized amount with every meal. Again, you can join NTMT to track or you can just make the effort to always have a source of protein with every meal and snack Increase the quantity & quality of fats in your diet. You know that tub of margarine/nuttelex/olive oil spread in your fridge? BIN IT! It’s full of trans fats which are fuel for the inflammation fire in your body. Replace it with olive oil, coconut oil, butter, ghee, animal fats, avocado, nuts, seeds, & other monounsaturated & saturated fats. Your body is crying out for them, my friend! I challenge you to try this for 6-12 weeks. What have you got to lose (except period pain)?
