22.01.2022 When storms hit your life which are you most like... sand, seaweed or stone? Seaweed is lush and fragile on the seabed but easily comes untethered in a storm, tossed about and left lying limp and lifeless on the shore. Stones though strong and sturdy easily become stuck, unable to shift once the storms subside remaining exposed and motionless on the shore. ... Sand however rides the waves, gently settling wherever it lands to form a solid base for a time and then able to lift up and move on playfully when another wave appears. This balance of softness and strength allows sand to adapt and remain resilient. Here one moment, gone the next but always present in one form or another

12.01.2022 Following on from my recent post I'd like to share a 30 min meditation I've recorded around the theme of Surrender which I hope might provide some relief from feelings of frustration particularly for those here again in lockdown and around the globe...
12.01.2022 IT'S TIME TO GET REAL. Meditation doesn't need to be long and drawn out. Sometimes a brief session is just as effective. Today I guided a quick midday session - 20 mins, in and out. It provided participants with some much needed headspace, something we're all a little starved of right now. The session today wasn't perfect - there was a bit of passing noise but that's life... a tyre screeching hoon, a power tool buzzing out there somewhere in the distance. Did it matter? No. D...oes it make it real? YES!! In fact it reminded me that there's rarely a" perfect" time or place to be still, unless you're a lazy old hippy on the hill. In fact the perfect time to meditate is when you're chasing your tail and IN the noise and chaos... be it work, family, relationship, health or anything else that causes stress. 20 mins gives you time to reset. My gorgeous boutique studio in South Curl Curl is the perfect backdrop for real life meditation and I invite you to join me Tuesday's 9.30am, 12.30pm or 5pm for a cheeky injection of headspace. 05.01.2022 Ever tried Laughing meditation...? Yesterday I guided a laughter meditation as part of an online retreat. There's so much power and connection in laughter, even with people you don't know. It was hilarious As a vehicle to stillness laughter tells your central nervous system that it's safe to relax and when you allow yourself to surrender to your own joy - to really feel the sensation of it bubbling up inside - the peace of mind and the expansion that comes with it is extraordinary
04.01.2022 HOW TO CATCH A GIANT SPIDER USING YOUR BREATH... Last night I faced my very real and paralysing fear of spiders and used my breath to regain control over a nightmare situation. I had no other choice. My spider catching husband away, nearly midnight and a very large, very hairy Huntsman on the wall by the bed. Wonderful. I looked at my options. First... ring my husband in London in tears hoping he might burst through the phone and save me, which I did and he didnt Second,... spray the f*cker and inhale the fumes in my sleep for the rest of the night Third, hoover it up... way too big thats when my fear really compounded Fourth, leave the house altogether and check into a hotel... not a valid option leaving my kids behind in the middle of the night Which brought me to my fifth and final solution and realisation that the only person for the job was Me... quelle horreur!!! After 20 minutes of looking at the spider looking back at me & feeling dizzy with terror the only way forward was to take control of my fear and my response to the situation. I had to change the way I show up in relation to spiders. What...? Youre going to do what...? Yes I had to become SuperWoman and put what I teach into practice. I sat and focused on my breath... it went a little like this And then I remembered the power was inside of me. That when you take control of your response from the inside you can more easily navigate what happens outside of you - this is the stuff I teach. I talk the talk but could I walk the walk...? This was the perfect opportunity to find out (and Im saying this now with a spring in my step but I wasnt so chirpy about it last night). Anyway... I sat focusing on my breath to calm my nervous system enough to begin thinking clearly. I realised that if I went for the spider with jerky frazzled terrified movements, it would jerk and frazzle and terrorise me back and I sure as hell didnt want that. And so donning my knee high boots and leather gloves for extra protection (my irrational fear still showing up again, well let that one slide ) I calmly stood on a chair, got face to face with HairyBoy and paused for a really really long time. I looked at my fear... right in its hairy face and when I did I was able to dissolve it for long enough to get a tupperware box over it. Exhale. Phase 1 complete Phase 2 and 3 went roughly the same way - securing and releasing. And so to cut a really long story shorter, I ran back into the house only to see the giant spider from Harry Potter, Aragon is it? right there on the telly in all its terrifying hairy glory "Ahh, f*ck you Universe..." I said, "im goin to bed"

01.01.2022 Are you aware your feelings are directly correlated to the quality of thoughts in your head? When you get out of your head by grounding into your body you can find relief from worrying or anxious thought loops and begin to settle in meditation. Grounding is essential and easily achieved via your 5 senses so if you struggle to find stillness or are experiencing overwhelming emotions then shorter meditations that incorporate body based techniques are a good place to start.
