Regional Victoria is going so welll, when 2 weeks ago was faced with an outbreak. We will see how the next few days go, if you feel unwell get tested. In the past we were a now society, fast food, prepackaged meals, express post, go and get a loan so we can have it now, carrying our phones with us for instant access to whatever we felt we needed. I guess this pandemic has shown us patience, we wished for easing of restrictions and all hoping for that to occur today. We will now wait another few days until the time is right. You have to admire our leaders, with so much pressure, to continue on the path as agreed to by experts, and wait until the figures are right to relax restrictions. It is hard for us to grapple with this concept of patience, as over the years, we have not had to wait for too many things. No waiting for the apples to ripen, we just go and buy them or order them for online delivery. But we are resilient, and it is surprising how most have adapted to the new normal. 23.01.2022 Tuesday’s Health tip 24/11/20 With things slowly getting back to normal, you may find you are feeling more tired, and lacking in energy. This seems to be quite common after a major life event, when things should be getting back to normal, and we should be feeling good. But what SHOULD happen and what DOES happen often differs in real life. The Covid epidemic has been a major life event, for many if not all. Significant uncertainty existed, and most routines were disrupted ...this year. So how can we get through this stage of the epidemic..... 1. Continue to have routines, and these may be different to the last few months, and even those of last year. We are creatures of habit, and find security in predictability. Create new routines. 2. Care for yourself, and set aside time each week for something to look forward to. This is so important and I cannot emphasize it enough. 3. Get fit, many people I see whom are tired, are lucky to walk 1 km a week. Strong muscles don’t happen by sitting down in front of a screen. Strong muscles definitely assist with giving you more energy and endurance in all parts of your life. Exercise for 30 minutes, four times a week. 4. Give yourself time to relax and sometimes to do nothing, you can’t go from Covid restrictions with nothing much on, to flat out normal life in a few weeks. Pay attention to how you are feeling, and do the things you want to and are able to. 5. Be aware of others expectations, and your own expectations, and don’t confuse the two. Be a little firmer this side of the Covid pandemic about boundaries, and looking after yourself. 6. Life is always changing, no one will start back in life in February 2020 .....go with the flow, we are ALL nearly in 2021. 7. Get good sleep, if you a struggling with this, see your Doctor. 8. Be positive ALWAYS __________________ Summary of Covid 25 zero days in a row! No cases recorded since last Tuesday’s health tip. No active cases left in Victoria _______________________________ If you have any respiratory symptoms GET TESTED!! _______________________________ Link for getting tested locally is pinned to the top of the Mirboo North Medical Centre Facebook page. _______________________________ Photo - Blue Rock Dam, just 30 km north of Moe is a nice day trip in our area. 23.01.2022 Tuesday 27/10/20 Zero new cases today, No new deaths in Victoria. 87 Active cases left in Victoria (-4)... 15,000 tests No mystery or unknown cases. - 14 day average daily case count Metro 2.8 (-0.8.) I have scaled back the statistics on this post now as everything is heading towards zero thankfully. Hopefully in one month we will be almost to zero active cases in Victoria. Health tip of the day - support your local businesses, it’s been a difficult year for everyone. 22.01.2022 Sunday 1/11/20 Health tip of the day - Along with being sun smart, don’t forget about your eyes. Put on a pair of sunglasses when you are outside or driving, as UV light can damage your eyesight, and lead to cataracts forming. __________________________... Zero new cases today, with with a previous case reclassified to bring increase of -1 case to total. No new deaths 61 Active cases left in Victoria (-10) 16,000 tests No mystery or unknown cases. - 14 day average daily case count Metro 2.2 (-0.2) Regional ZERO - total active cases in Metro 61 (-10) Regional ZERO - unknown 14 day total case count is Metro 1 case (-1) Regional ZERO ZERO cases in all Gippsland council areas _________________________ Another good day , and so enables me to now change this post to a weekly health tip each Tuesday .... Tuesday’s Tip. I look forward to catching up with you all on Tuesday. __________________ If you have any respiratory symptoms GET TESTED!! _______________________________ Link for getting tested locally is pinned to the top of the Mirboo North Medical Centre Facebook page. _______________________________ Photo - A lovely day in Gippsland today, showcasing our green rolling hills.

22.01.2022 Thursday 29/10/20 Health tip of the day - Most of us do not breathe deeply enough, only using the top 1/3 of our lungs to breath, hardly using any of our respiratory muscles, or opening up our airways properly. To keep our lungs in tiptop condition and good blood oxygen levels, try and take a few deep breaths every hour to get the air right down to the bases of the lungs. Lift up your shoulders, to fully inflate your lungs. When you exercise, it should be energetic enough,... so as to make you breathe a little faster and harder. __________________________ 3 new cases today, 1 reclassified increasing total by 2 cases. No new deaths 76 Active cases left in Victoria (-4) 24,000 tests One mystery or unknown case. - 14 day average daily case count Metro 2.4 (-0.3) Regional ZERO - total active cases in Metro 76 (-4) Regional ZERO - unknown 14 day total case count is Metro 4 cases (+1) Regional ZERO ZERO cases in all Gippsland council areas _________________________ The 3 cases today are under investigation, with one already in isolation when tested, and the other 2 are being investigated to determine if they are actually a new case, or will be reclassified. I would expect a few cases here and there, but everything is looking very positive with the Heath Department’s control of this virus, which is impressive given how infectious this virus is, and people who blatantly continue to do the wrong thing. Now we await the premiers to start to open up the borders to make Australia one again. I will keep this daily Covid update going for awhile, but will be winding it up soon after 8 months of daily posts, and replacing it with a weekly health tip. It is a good thing that we don’t need this daily post any longer. __________________ If you have any respiratory symptoms GET TESTED!! _______________________________ Link for getting tested locally is pinned to the top of the Mirboo North Medical Centre Facebook page. _______________________________ Photo - Tiana Giardina sent this great photo of a sunset in Mirboo North

It is interesting how the media have changed their tune, when only 4 days ago they were preaching doom and gloom and were extremely critical of the government. They are now happily say how wonderful Victoria is, beating this virus like no other country. We all now know how fickle this source of information is. 13.01.2022 Friday 30/10/20 Health tip of the day - We are seeing a lot of rashes and irritated skin at the clinic, which are often a combination of factors including over drying of the skin due to soap, heating in our houses, which tends to dry out skin, and with spring and pollens, some allergy component. A basic plan would be to use a soap free wash in the shower, moisture once or twice daily with a simple moisturizer like Sorbolene. Soap free washes are available in the supermarket ...or pharmacy. If this is not working speak to your doctor or pharmacist for further advice. __________________________ 4 new cases today, 1 reclassified to bring the total to an increase of 3. While we had a significant and fast rise in July as the numbers went from 10 cases a day to over 700 a day in only a few weeks, it takes much longer to mop up the last few ones in the community, and stop them spreading further. As seen by the Chadstone cluster now up to 35 cases, and spread from Frankston to Kilmore, the restrictions and metro boundaries are there to protect us all. Health tip - ring or contact a friend or family member that could be feeling lonely, make them smile Photo - beautiful Boolarra, so picturesque, a photographers dream. 11.01.2022 Tuesday 10/11/20 Health tip of the day - Christmas is coming, whether we are ready or not. This year ensure you support local businesses and purchase gifts or gift cards locally. They are the ones that are always there, and often sponsor local events or clubs. Sit down and do some planning by the end of this week, and you will find the Christmas time so much more enjoyable, as well as the next few weeks.... Keep drinking lots of water with the warmer weather. Pack a drink bottle each day. __________________ Summary of Covid 11 zero days in a row! No cases recorded since last Tuesday’s health tip. 10.01.2022 Tuesday 17/11/20 Look after your body, now is the time to do the right thing by ourselves. I saw an interesting quote today which is so relevant Your body will be around a lot longer than that expensive handbag (or work, or car, or anything really) invest in yourself. ... You have to invest in yourself, no one can do it for you, not your doctor, partner, family or friends. You are solely responsible...... to start now, and to do it properly. We all know what to do. Just do it. Sleep, eat, exercise, work, relax and enjoy yourself, in the right way, every time. Saying I will do it later, is never right, you cannot turn back time. Start being the best you can, right now. __________________ Summary of Covid 18 zero days in a row! No cases recorded since last Tuesday’s health tip. 06.01.2022 Saturday 31/10/20 Health tip of the day - The warmer weather gets us all outside, but now is the time to ensure you have sunscreen by the back door, in the car, and better still part of your morning routine to apply daily. 05.01.2022 Tuesday’s Health Tip 12/1/21 Call or text someone today, that might appreciate the social contact. Just because we are not isolating at home anymore, doesn’t mean everyone is fine. Signs your friends and family might be struggling are - they loose interest in the things they used to enjoy, less talkative, more tired/lacking in energy, more withdrawn, being more negative in actions or words, being irritable, or quick to anger. Do not just withdraw from them, this is the time t...hey need your support more. Contact them, invite them out, will all go such a long way to making someone’s life better. ___________________________ Covid update Hand Hygiene, Masks and Social Distancing keeps us safe. Our patience has paid off, and the one important restriction to be lifted, is the ring of steel on November 8, to reunite Victorians again. We are all certainly looking forward to that. I hope there are many more zero days to come. Health tip of the day - I think one of the most important things for a long and active life, is to have a daily exercise program. This is the best way to add good years to your life. Walking is an easy exercise you can do, low impact, free and you only need a good pair of walking shoes. Better than any medicine. 01.01.2022 Tuesday 3/11//20 Health tip of the day - Iodine is a trace mineral in our diets which is important for metabolism, thyroid, brain and bone health. It is found in seafood, salt (with iodine added), seaweed/kelp products and some vegetables. In intensive farming, the produce is often lacking iodine, hence the popularity of seaweed fertilizers for home vege gardens. The main symptom of iodine deficiency is thyroid dysfunction. 01.01.2022 Tuesday’s Health tip 1/12/20 Medications are prescribed to you for specific reasons and conditions. You should never change the dose or stop them, without a health professional’s advice. The internet is a great source of information, but cannot take the place of individual tailored advice from the doctor that knows why the medication was prescribed for you, and the way the medication works on your body. Doctors and pharmacists have many years of university training, as well ...as a significant amount of experience to ensure that medications optimize your health, and minimise the harm they may cause. - Take your medications exactly as directed - Never ever share medications with others - Always keep medications in a secure place - if you have questions or any concerns please talk to your doctor to tailor a plan that will suit you and your medical history - Your Pharmacist is part of your health team, and will provide you with any information you require about your medications. __________________ Summary of Covid 32 zero days in a row!
