25.01.2022 Mirboo Norths passionate local Doctor, Sonya Moncrieff, has always had a vision for increasing health services in the Mirboo North township. Im very excited to see this in the pipeline for the very deserving residents of Mirboo North. I believe every person in the area deserves access to a comprehensive health service and that this building will allow us to offer even more to our community, said Dr. Moncrieff. "The Mirboo North community is so lucky to have the Foundation... to give them this opportunity to attend all of the services they need... I am very excited for this to happen." Thanks to Dr. Sonya for all her support as we embark on this amazing local project together as a community. #togetherwethrive #impactinvestment #philanthropyaustralia

22.01.2022 We hope that youve had a chance to pick up your local paper and see the news. Mirboo North is getting a brand new medical centre! The new facility, which will be built at 59-67 Ridgway, will be custom designed and built by Gippsland contractors in an effort to keep jobs local. It will result in a modern and sustainable building that will reside in the middle of our lovely township of Mirboo North. The spacious building will enable extra doctors to take up residence in Mirb...oo North, with room for 4 full-time GPs and access for various allied health professionals to rent rooms so that people from all age groups that reside in the community do not have to travel as far to receive expert healthcare. Wed love to thank our amazing local GP, Dr. Sonya Moncrieff and staff at Mirboo North Medical Centre for their assistance and a special mention to Stockdale & Leggo Mirboo North for helping us to secure this important piece of land. Due to open September 2021, who is excited?! #togetherwethrive #healthandwellbeing #mirboonorth

Chris Hill - Rec Recreation Reserve President, contributes massive hours and has the expert knowledge to the facility, overseas the watering and ground maintenance, and is always working towards continuous improvements. David Ferguson Treasurer of both Cricket and Football/Netball clubs, one of our key lawnmowers, and a "jack of all trades" (Absent from the photo, another essential lawn mower Bill Robinson like David are up mowing lawns weekly, all-year-round). Bon Mackie a Football Committee member and is always around to lend a helping hand whenever required. David Hobson Rec Reserve Community representative always around to lend a helping hand, contributes heavily to grounds maintenance. At the Rear Matt Steendam Rec Recreation Reserve Secretary, always around to lend a helping hand whenever the need arises. Matt, Chris, David, and David are all very heavily involved in volunteering in the local CFA. We understand this certainly isn't the extent of the volunteers who support Thorpdale; we know there is a massive pool of people who put their hands up - and we would like to thank you all. The Reserve is run solely by volunteers, ensuring the facility is maintained, improved, and presented safely and welcomingly to the Thorpdale community and the wider community alike. They rely on the wider community to contribute to improvements (working bee's or just lending a hand when they see something required to be repaired/done). As the saying goes, "Many hands make the light work". They welcome anyone who is in a position to lend a hand for an hour or two at any time, as there are always small lists of minor improvements, repairs or maintenance jobs to be done.

06.01.2022 A longstanding Director on the Community Foundation Board, Grant has recently resigned to seek out some new challenges. This month, he is relocating to Bothwell in Tasmania to renovate and live in an old sandstone cottage. "It has been a unique privilege to serve the community of Mirboo North in a small way", says Grant Irving of his directorship on the Board of the Mirboo North & District Community Foundation, "in enabling our District to face challenges presented and to f...lourish." He was born and bred in Mirboo North, going to school locally and then setting up his accountancy practice here and raising a family with his wife, Kim. In fact, he was born at the same Mirboo North Bush Nursing Hospital that ultimately led to the creation of the Community Foundation, of which he has been a Director for the past ten years. Through his accountancy practice, he provided services to Mirboo North Community Care and from this connection, he joined the Community Foundation Board in 2011. Grant brought his wealth of experience and financial skills to his role as Director, mainly through his work as part of the compliance and finance sub-committee. "Grant has played a part in setting up the financial and investment structures which ensured a prudent stewardship of the corpus and its stable and continued growth over the past ten years," explained Rob Kiddell, Chair of the Compliance and Finance Committee. "We thank him for his dedication and commitment to this organisation over this time, which benefited greatly from his input." "We wish Grant well in this next adventure," added Paul Pratt, Chair. "We will miss the skills and experience he brought to the role. Over the past ten years, the Community Foundation has had a significant impact through granting, facilitating and investing, and Grant has been a key part of that." . . . . . #mirboonorthanddistrictcommunityfoundation #MNDCF #MNDCF3871 #makingadifference #communityfoundation #southgippsland #gippsland #longstandingdirector #farewell #volunteerdirector #mirboonorth

The now-famous Wednesday Warriors are indeed a fantastic dynamic group of volunteers who give up their time every Wednesday morning to work on our beautiful Grand Ridge Rail Trail, as well as the Lyrebird Walk. Their dedication to maintaining both of these trails/tracks for the use of the community, but if you are a regular user, you will also notice the 'extras'. Whether it is a new sign, a newly cleared area with a picnic bench or a unique viewing point or track, their help doesn't go unnoticed.
