24.01.2022 Just an update on Mirboo Norths Got Talent. Staff will be shortlisting entries during the holidays. We will show case the finalists when we return to school on term 4. To streamline the process, winners will be decided by a judging panel of staff from the shortlisted. Keep your entries coming! Theres been some great entries so far!

24.01.2022 This Thursday is R U OK? Day, our national day of action dedicated to reminding everyone that every day is the day to ask, Are you OK? and support those struggling with lifes ups and downs. As a school, we are getting involved in different ways. Teachers across the grades will check in with students and families in some way or another this week. We hope you might get a chance to have a look at the website yourselves and seeing how this event shines a light on helping and... looking out for one another. For those who were present at our recent Andrew Fuller Webex, he highlighted the importance of whether asking are you ok? is enough. Which leads into this years R U OK? Theme, Theres More to Say After Are You OK? Here is the link to the website and a huge range of support and resources around this important topic. https://www.ruok.org

24.01.2022 Looking for something for the kids to do? Mirboo North has just launched its very own Spoonville. Why not decorate a wooden spoon and pop it in the garden bed at MIrboo North IGA to make a village showing that we are all in this together. Great little message and some positivity to share during these tough times.

22.01.2022 Chaplaincy Shed open TODAY! Anyone need a bike???? They are giving them away. Go and see Ange.

22.01.2022 Please find attached a new updated Canteen list as of Monday the 3th August.

22.01.2022 We like many others in Mirboo North still have our power out. We expect that there will be issues with Compass this morning as a result. Fingers crossed the issues will be rectified shortly.

21.01.2022 Dear Parents and Carers, We hope the first three days at home has been a little less stressful than last time and look forward to seeing you all at our first attempt of a virtual live assembly at 2.30 today. Fingers crossed it works as planned. Remote learning this time around will involve some slight changes after receiving feedback from students, parents and teachers about our last attempt. Every morning there will be a Cisco Webex meeting for all students giving an overvi...ew of Whats On for the Day. Grade 5/6 and 1/2s will be at 8:50 and Grade 3/4/5s and Preps will be at 9:05 (Wellbeing Wednesday will host one whole school Webex at 9am). We understand there may be some clashes in families with these times, however it is where we are starting for now. Please organize another device with us if this will help alleviate this issue. Links to these meetings will not be posted on the newsfeed. Students will need to click on the Webex session on their home page schedule on Compass to view the relevant link. There will also be class Webex meetings held on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday afternoons for students to communicate with their classroom teacher and ask questions regarding their learning and set activities. These meetings are not compulsory. The times for each grades afternoon meeting will be shown on your childs Compass schedule and will remain the same throughout the term. This time around, the school has created Wellbeing Wednesdays to promote wellbeing for everyone involved in Remote Learning (students, parents and teachers). A whole school Webex at 9am on Wednesday morning will start the day. Specialist subjects and wellbeing activities will be scheduled on this day and we would ask that you avoid contact with class teachers on Wednesdays. Friday assemblies will be held via Cisco Webex at 2.30pm where the whole school will celebrate the week. Working Together Awards will be presented at this assembly beginning next week. Please click on the Friday afternoon session on the Compass schedule and click on the link provided to access the assembly. All students across the school will be required to upload and submit three learning task each week. These will be Reading, Writing and Mathematics focused and need to be uploaded by Friday afternoons, but can be submitted earlier. Feedback will be given by the following Thursday and parents will be notified when this has been completed. We would like as many children as possible to participate in Webex sessions, however like with any curriculum issues please dont feel frustrated or upset if you miss some. Aim to get in on the ones you and your children can. If you have any questions, please contact your childs teacher. We are in this together! MNPS

21.01.2022 Chaplaincy have bikes and are looking to give them away for Christmas. If you know someone doing it tough call Ange on 0411 674 915.

21.01.2022 Why is it so??? Happy Science Week meets Well-being Wednesday. There were two mad scientists at school this morning who escaped from the lab to share one or two of their favourite experiments and jokes. We hope your day is a mix of fun, relaxation, well-being and everything in between. Whatever you get up to, (not only today, but during the week)we would love you to upload a photo or two to our Week 6 The Good, The Bad and The Ugly Learning Task, found in the Finish Off Friday folder. Have a great day everyone!!!

21.01.2022 The preps had a fabulous day celebrating their 100th Day of School. We snuck it in just before heading back to remote learning. A big thank you to all parents and guardians for organising oldies outfits so quickly. A great day was had by all.

21.01.2022 Happy Principals Day!!!! We are truly lucky and blessed to have two great leaders who always go above and beyond for our Students, staff and school community. On Monday students quickly did an appreciation bunting which we used to decorate their office spaces. Thank you Mr Snell and Mr Collins for all that you do. Hope you enjoyed your special lunch too.

20.01.2022 From us to you, Happy Fathers Day. We hope you have a lovely weekend with your families. Heres a video of the staff of MNPS having a cup of coffee with someone dear to them and reminiscing about their childhoods.

20.01.2022 Dear Parents and Carers, After what has been a rather hectic 24 hours for our school and no doubt for many of our families, we find ourselves in a good position ready to get into the opportunities and challenges that will present to us again during Remote Learning. We used our student free day to prepare plans and equipment once more, taking on much of your feedback from our recent survey to make what we trust will be improvements from our first attempt. We will be using th...e same platform, Compass with what we hope you find, more communication opportunities. This will start from next Monday with timetabled Webex sessions each day and a Well-being Wednesday like in tomorrows plan. Each team will communicate with you on Friday our next plan, however please contact teachers now with questions around this weeks work. Please understand that the majority of our staff will be working from home each day and we will be limiting on site numbers as best we can, as it is a crucial part of the Victorian Governments response to slowing the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) and protecting the Victorian community. We have received many phone calls today and children will be working on this weeks plan from tomorrow. Please see attachments in Compass. This weeks Remote Plan will be different to how next Mondays looks, as we cannot get devices to all our families before Friday afternoon. I think the plans are terrific for the rest of this week starting with the Well-being Choose Your Own Adventure Challenge, PE and ART all starting off tomorrow. Please dont be too discouraged if things dont work to plan this week, we will look to support as best we can if we know. Please message us if you encounter problems or issues we can help address. Families who again require a device to support them during the remote learning period should email [email protected]. Please detail your childs name and room number in the email. We will only be allocating one device per family and we will inform you when collection can take place in a future post. Please access Compass for comprehensive plans for the rest of this week. I look forward to this weeks first whole school Webex meeting this Friday starting at 2.30pm, hope to see you there! Thank you for your continued support, we look forward to what we learn and see from children this time round. Regards, Matthew Snell

20.01.2022 TALK HOMEWORK - Out with the old, in with the new... The seed has been planted and the stimulus set. This week as part of our whole school writing session the students will be rewriting the old classic The Three Little Pigs . As was suggested at assembly this morning, the students may choose to substitute the pigs for different characters (lemurs, teachers etc) OR perhaps retell the story from the wolf’s perspective. Who knows, maybe he was misunderstood and just want...ed a nice warm place to stay and a decent meal (not bacon). What if the three little pigs homes were solid? What would the wolf had done then? Please spend some time tonight discussing with your child some possible ideas on how to revamp The Three Little Pigs so when they are asked to write about it at school this week they have some ideas. Remember this is just talk homework so all we want you to do is talk about it. We are looking forward to hearing and reading all the kids stories and ideas this coming week. Thank you See more

20.01.2022 Happy Well-being Wednesday everyone! Thank you to those who joined the WebEx this morning. For those who missed it, Mr Snell and Mr Collins have been working hard on "their talent" for The Mirboo Norths Got Talent Competition, which is the focus of our Well-being Wednesday this week. They have given singing a miss and have turned to juggling! Lucky they have today to practice, practice, practice. What better way to celebrate Are You OK? Day than by celebrating who we a...re and what makes us special and unique. They also gave us a little insight into whats in store for Art with some coffee painting and PE with Active Tetris, which sounds like a lot of fun! Mr Snell and Mr Collins also announced that we are coming back to school Week 2 of Term 4. Yay!!!!! There was also talk of Footy Day when we come back to get ready for the grand final AND new equipment like a rebound wall and a Gaga Pit. All will be revealed very soon on what they are and look like. Looking forward to seeing all the talent we have out there. Remember we would love to see what you get up to in our Week 9 The Good, The Bad and The Ugly! learning task. Have a great day one and all. See more

19.01.2022 Thank you to all who bid on our Childrens artwork. Congratulations to all our successful bidders who secured themselves a unique piece of artwork. Payment and Art work can be collected from school office.

19.01.2022 We hope today you had a chance to check in on and connect with your loved ones for R U OK Day "Today was a Difficult Day," said Pooh. There was a pause. "Do you want to talk about it?" asked Piglet.... "No," said Pooh after a bit. "No, I dont think I do." "Thats okay," said Piglet, and he came and sat beside his friend. "What are you doing?" asked Pooh. "Nothing, really," said Piglet. "Only, I know what Difficult Days are like. I quite often dont feel like talking about it on my Difficult Days either. "But goodness," continued Piglet, "Difficult Days are so much easier when you know youve got someone there for you. And Ill always be here for you, Pooh." And as Pooh sat there, working through in his head his Difficult Day, while the solid, reliable Piglet sat next to him quietly, swinging his little legs...he thought that his best friend had never been more right." 19.01.2022 Dear Parents and Carers, As indicated yesterday by the Premier, Remote Learning resumes for our school this Wednesday the 5th of August. Tomorrow is a student free day for teachers to prepare for Remote Learning once more. At MNPS we have taken your feedback from our recent survey and looked to make improvements from our first attempt, using the same platform with what we hope you find, more communication opportunities. The majority of our staff will be working from home e...ach day as it is a crucial part of the Victorian Governments response to slowing the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) and protecting the Victorian community. We have received many phone calls today and will be working on this weeks plan tomorrow. This weeks Remote Plan will be different to how next Mondays looks, as we cannot get devices to all our families before Friday afternoon, as I have learnt today. It is not a decision taken lightly, and I understand it will be difficult for many families to balance home and work commitments, like it will be for many of our staff. On-site school attendance is available to students when parents and carers are not able to supervise children at home. This means that all students who can learn from home must learn at home. Attendance at school is only available for children where parents cannot work from home (essential service worker), who the school identifies as vulnerable (DHHS involvement etc.), or children with a disability who also fit one of the above two categories. We are therefore asking for all families who require onsite supervision to complete the below documentation; Provide to the school, a letter from your employer stating youre essential and cannot work from home during rostered working hours. We understand it is a short timeline but it is the timeline we are required to work with due to the sudden changes. If your child qualifies for casual attendance for supervision at school (not 5 days a week), please email us ([email protected]. We will add these documents to the students onsite file and allocation to casual relief teacher grades. Attend the school and complete an onsite attendance enrolment form each week, and sign in at the ART Room site on every day. If your circumstances change and you no longer require onsite supervision, please contact the school as soon as possible so we can update supervision schedules. Families who again require a device to support them during the remote learning period should email [email protected]. Please detail your childs name and room number in the email. We will only be allocating one device per family and we will inform you when collection can take place in a future post. Thank you for your continued support, Regards, Matthew Snell

17.01.2022 Thank you to our families that have been attending our school assembly at 2.30pm each Friday and Well-being Wednesday sessions at 9am. We hope everyone has enjoyed these assemblies and look forward to the four more Webexs this term. A reminder that our school assembly WebEx link is: https://eduvic.webex.com/meet/collins.anthony.j Important Information... Following the press conference yesterday we now have some clarity on a planned return to school. The Department of Education will be sending more detailed information our way later in the week. We will be sure to pass this on when it is available. What we do know: 14th 18th September (last week of Term 3) All schools will continue to provide remote and flexible learning for the remainder of Term 3 5th 9th October (first week of Term 4) Remote and flexible learning will continue for all students Monday the 12th October All students return to school for onsite learning during this week, we are planning for all on the Monday. Stay tuned! This is exciting news. We are really lucky that we live in the country as unfortunately the kids in Metropolitan Melbourne are not so lucky at this stage. It is likely that all safety protocols applied onsite at the end of Term 2 and the beginning of Term 3 will continue to apply. Such protocols include regular use of hand sanitiser, individual drink bottles, additional cleaning, staff distancing, parents not coming onsite where possible etc.. Again we will have more information to come here. Preparing for a return to school We encourage parents to share this good news with their child/ren and begin to have conversations with them. Please make the time to ask your child/ren what they are looking forward to when they return and what they are not looking forward to. Many children will have anxieties about returning and it is important that we acknowledge these anxieties and talk about them where possible. Over the next week we will send out some other tips and ideas to assist in this area. Please dont hesitate to email your childs teacher with any concerns you have. We have purposely kept this update as short as we can. We foresee this week and next week as being a busy week with notifications to our families. Please dont hesitate to call us here at school with any worries or questions. Kind regards, Staff MNPS.

14.01.2022 5/6 Park Party was a hit today!!

14.01.2022 As the 2020 school year draws to a close, we would once again like to thank everyone for their support throughout what has been a very challenging year. We would also like to take this opportunity to wish our grade 6 students well for their Secondary Education and thank them for their leadership this year. May they continue to grow and embrace all the learning opportunities that come their way. We must also say a very big thank you to Miss Ebony Best who was with us this yea...r, teaching our grade 4/5 class. Miss Best was a great addition to our school and supported our school programs as well as extra curricular activities. We wish her well in her new position at Korumburra Primary School. In closing we would like to wish all of our families, friends and the wider school community a very happy and safe Christmas and we look forward to seeing you all in 2021. Enjoy your well deserved break! See more

10.01.2022 Remote Learning - Term Three, Week Four - Reflections (The Good, The Bad, The Ugly) As our first week of Remote Learning 2.0 draws to a close, we would like to thank those who have emailed us some photos of the week that was. This week was about easing back into remote learning, setting up learning spaces and enjoying our new initiative, Well-being Wednesdays. Each week we would love to share students and families successes, as well as wonderings and even the things that... dont go quite to plan, to help build a sense of community, while we navigate our way through another phase of remote learning and highlight that we are all in this together. Your reflections can be posted into Finishing Off Friday Learning Tasks weekly, which we will collate and post Friday evenings. Here is a collection of photos from this week. As we said, not everything will go according to plan, (just ask Fred who wasnt planning on having a broken wrist) but it is important to do what you can, when you can. Thank you also to all who logged on for our first Webex whole school assembly this afternoon. It was great to see so many people join in. We will work on refining that so that it runs more smoothly next week. Have a great weekend and thank you for a great week. See more

10.01.2022 Its R U OK?Day, a reminder that every day is a day to start a conversation that could change a life. Today were calling on Mirboo North Primary School community to learn what to say after R U OK? so they can keep the conversation going when someone says theyre not OK. Theres more to say after R U OK?... *Learn what to say when listening with an open mind *Learn what to say when encouraging action *Learn what to say when checking in *Learn how to continue a conversation that could change a life. When we know what to say next we can help someone open up and find pathways to support long before theyre in crisis. Learn what to say next and help us move closer to our vision of a world where were all connected and are protected from suicide. If you are unable to get the school by 2pm please contact the office to notify us. You have shown resilience, manners, stamina and positivity. So proud! See more

09.01.2022 What a week! This week, week 6 was National Science Week so many families had had a great time experimenting with various different things, discovering whats inside the human body, making play dough or rising to the challenge to create another Rube Goldberg Machine. (Apologies cant work out how to post videos yet). Again we say thank you for continuing to embrace all that Remote Learning has to offer and sending through your photos for our weekly reflections. Well done to all our students and families on another fabulous week. Have a great weekend.

06.01.2022 27th of May to the 3rd June is National Reconciliation Week. National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is an opportunity for all of us to reflect on our journey so far, and explore how each of us, individually and collectively, can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. The 2021 theme is More than a word. Reconciliation takes action.... Mirboo North Primary School will be taking part though classroom learning and activities. We aim to acknowledge our history and "take action" for reconciliation.

06.01.2022 Week 9 of remote learning done and dusted. This week saw many students working on their talent or act for our MIrboo Norths Got Talent Competition, whilst others researched animals or simply enjoyed the sunshine. Are you ok day was also a feature, giving teachers the opportunity to connect with kids and check in personally. It was also lovely to see people spending time together as a family, whether it be to celebrate birthdays or connecting with nature. A reminder that MIrboo Norths Got Talent submissions are due Tuesday, so you have the weekend if you need it, to work on your act and refine it. Wishing you all a fabulous weekend and once again thank you to those who uploaded to create our Remote Learning - The Good, The Bad & The Ugly album for this week (week 9).

06.01.2022 Hi everyone, Thanks for a great week with your children here, somewhat helped by the great weather to end the week. Overall we are very happy with the learning efforts across the school, although some of the 5/6 children have been pushing the boundaries testing the patience levels a little. Further to this I was able to speak with all 3/4/5/6 grades and express my concerns with phone use and was very clear that I would be confiscating any that were seen or being used once i...nside the school gate. As we go into next week our staff are well prepared for the challenges that will occur state wide. Unfortunately we havent received any changed department guidelines yet, however we will be following what has been set out by the Premier yesterday at this stage. Wearing of face masks. FROM 11.59PM ON SUNDAY THE 2ND OF AUGUST, FACE MASKS WILL BE MANDATORY FOR ALL VICTORIANS WHEN THEY LEAVE THEIR HOME. What this means for our Mirboo North Primary School community: STUDENTS DO NOT NEED TO WEAR MASKS, NO MATTER THEIR AGE AT PRIMARY SCHOOL, HOWEVER PARENTS CAN MAKE THE DECISION TO HAVE THEIR CHILDREN WEAR A MASK AT SCHOOL IF THEY WISH. PARENTS AND GUARDIANS DO NEED TO WEAR A MASK WHEN DROPPING STUDENTS OFF AND PICKING THEM UP FROM THE SCHOOL GROUNDS. TEACHERS DO NOT NEED TO WEAR A MASK WHILE TEACHING, HOWEVER DO MOVING AROUND OUR SCHOOL. Like in many country schools some staff trialled masks today. Our children responded really well and generally only asked why we were wearing them. Please have the conversation with your children on the weekend that this is part of the new normal for now. It certainly helps reduce anxiety if they hear it is supported and explained by you at home. If you have any questions please ring our office on 56681375. Kind regards, Matt

05.01.2022 Wishing our MNPS families and friends a very Merry Christmas.

05.01.2022 As week 5 draws to a close, this is a reflection on the week that was, from the families of Mirboo North Primary School. Thank you for sharing with us the highs and the lows of the week. It was lovely to see some trying out their entrepreneurial skills by selling oranges, some being creative and enjoying the snowman activity in art, some refining their cooking skills, some taking advantage of Well-being Wednesday, while many continue to decorate and perfect their home learn...ing space. Well done to everyone who completed and uploaded some or all of their learning tasks, and to those who lost their first tooth, rescued an echidna or even managed a nap! We are proud of each and everyone of you and this week has been another example of us "Working Together" to get through remote learning 2.0. Remember there will be an opportunity each week to share your experiences by uploading photos for our weekly reflections. Looking forward to what week 6 will bring. Until then, have a great weekend. See more

04.01.2022 A recap of the week that was (Week 8 Term3). Thank you to those who uploaded some of the learning and adventures that have taken place this week. 03.01.2022 Well-being Wednesday is off to a flying start! Thomas has designed an indoor Ninja Warrior obstacle course to get his day started, ticking off Health and PE, creativity and sustainability or recycling. Well done Thomas! Remember to upload to Week 7 - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly if there is anything you want to share with the school community. Photos are best as can add multiples. Have a great day everyone.

03.01.2022 10 minutes to go!!!!!!!! Auction ends at 9am

03.01.2022 Happy Friday everyone! We are almost at the end of another week. Looking forward to seeing all of your submissions for the Good, The Bad & The Ugly! Week 9 at the end of today. We received this from Maverick which was pretty impressive. I wonder if it is part of his MIrboo Norths Got Talent routine? Thanks Mav. Great to see people out enjoying the sunshine too. Have a great day everyone. Hope to see you at 2.30pm for our WebEx assembly.

02.01.2022 Heres a little trip down memory lane for you all. The Mirboo and District Historical Society Inc have shared a couple of photos of two buildings that used to be on our school grounds, The Dot Snell Centre and The Clarrie Foster room. Two significant people in our schools history. These buildings were demolished to make way for the redevelopment and upgrades to our school grounds so two rooms in our BER Building (Learning Centre) were named after Dot and Clarrie to continue to honour these great people.

02.01.2022 Happy Well-being Wednesday everyone!! Hope your day is full of sunshine and positivity. For those who joined the WebEx this morning, we hope Mr Snell and Mr Collins inspired you with some of the activities that have been planned, whether it be a spring clean, sock sort, deep water/submarine activity for Art or the biscuit challenge in the Minute to Win It in PE. I think Mr Snell and Mr a Collins are going to work on their singing for next week. Remember there is plenty on offer in the Well-being Wednesday matrix. Looking forward to seeing photos uploaded to Week 8 of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly! for us to share at the end of the week. Have a great day!!!

01.01.2022 Great news everyone!!!! We are extending the due date for MIrboo Norths Got Talent submissions to the end of the day THIS Friday 18th September. Our well-being team will then collate the submissions and put them together to present to our school community early next term. These submissions will be put to a public vote and from this a shortlist will be created and those on the short list will go into a grand final round in term 4. Thank you to those who have already submitted their talent and we look forward to seeing many more by the end of the week. 01.01.2022 Our Cross Country and Lap-a-thon was held today and our students showed great sportsmanship throughout the day. A presentation took place after the Cross Country with the first five from each age group being announced and presented with ribbons. After lunch the Junior School participated in a Lap-a-thon to see how many laps of the school they could complete in 30minutes, whilst being encouraged and supported by their Gra...de 6 peers. ALL students were treated to a Zoopa Doopa following their event thanks to our hardworking Parent’s Club, who also held a sausage sizzle as part of the day. Congratulations go to CLARKE who were declared the overall winners of the day. The house captains for Clarke will be officially presented the cup at our assembly Monday morning. Well done everyone.
