25.01.2022 Miriam-Rose's Story. For me to be sitting here, it's breathtaking, and healing. That's part of Dadirri. You've gotta slow down, and listen. You've gotta feel it.... And you'd have a better understanding, and open heart. A spirit. Dadirri gives us the opportunity to be able to walk together in peace. We're all part of the story. Australia Day Reflect. Respect. Celebrate.

20.01.2022 Here is a gift to enjoy at the end of your working week, something to deeply nurture and to provide a reminder to slow down, take a breath, and tap into that deep stillness to listen. We are privileged to be able to share a recent interview with Elder Miriam Rose, as she reflects on her life, culture and Dadirri. Thank you to Melanie Greblo and the fantastic team at Talking Sticks for sharing this very special edition of Living Room Conversations.... https://youtu.be/Lq9sZ5-EfC4

19.01.2022 We are all part of the story... and when one community suffers, when one part of our country is hurting through fires or floods we are all affected. How do we move forward? By listening to each other... Across our nation we have experienced a very somber start to the new year. The beginning of a new decade marked by fire, loss of life and homes, and our great land and eco-systems severely damaged. The impacts on our wildlife will take a long time for us to truly understan...d the level of this devastation. While we shed tears of sadness for our communities and our country we also share a message that is calling us to reflect and to listen more deeply during this time. Yesterday this national Australia Day campaign was launched, a campaign which Miriam is a part of, calling Australians to unite and to listen to eachother. Now more than ever this message needs to be heard. Over the coming hours, days, weeks and months ahead we need to come together in community united for the future of our country. To listen to traditional ways that this land was cared for by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s for thousands and thousands of years. To listen and learn from each other so we can walk together and move through this crisis, to unite and return back into rhythm with nature. Dadirri reminds us of this and is calling to us now... please listen and feel into your deep inner spring today and the days that follow and know you are not alone, that we are sending you our love, and we walk with you during this time. https://www.australiaday.org.au
18.01.2022 Miriam painted the Stations of the Cross for the Church in Nauiyu. They are still in place today. This station showing a man stepping forth to help Jesus with his burden seems particularly pertinent at this time in Australia. Seeing Jesus struggling the man was overcome with feelings of empathy and saw not what others told him to see or what others reported but another human being, struggling with a load that should not have been borne alone. Let us all take this Easter as a chance to see the burden borne by others and to act with integrity to ease that burden wherever we can.
15.01.2022 A message to the Nauiyu community... Elder Miriam Rose Ungunmerr Baumann speaks in Ngangi about the COVID-19 virus, and why it is really important to practice and maintain hygiene to stay healthy. This is an important message for the elderly, but also everyone in the community.... Please like and share this post to spread the message. It is important that everyone in Nauiyu hears it. (This message was recorded after the community meeting held on the 17th March in Nauiyu NT.)

11.01.2022 "On this sorry day we remember loss. The loss experienced by children who were taken from their mothers to places a long way from their country and culture to a place where there was no family. The loss of those of us left behind when our little sisters and brothers went from our lives to a life without us. It is good to remember and feel the weight of that loss. To hear the cries of that sadness. To listen, listen deeply to the crying. The crying of the child within us. The ...crying because we were not here. Listen to that sadness. Listen deeply with your whole self. We need to feel that sadness. Just feel it and let it hang. All Australians need to feel that sadness and to know that that sadness should never happen again. All Australians need to feel that sadness and let it hang. Just sit and listen to it. If we listen deeply it will teach us. We will learn from that crying, that sadness if we listen deeply. Let it form a big teardrop. Let the teardrops fall into the River and onto the ground. Let that sadness fall into the River and on to the ground and flow with water. Let it become something that nourishes us as a Nation and helps us grow to be wiser and stronger. Breath deeply and let that sadness rush to the parched lands of bitterness and regret. Let it flow and feed a better country where we are all valued and loved. Listen, listen deeply to new hope that springs from the seeds of wisdom nourished by that sadness. Wisdom that we should never again make decisions without listening deeply to each other. Without listening deeply to ourselves." Elder Miriam-Rose Ungunmerr See more

10.01.2022 We are very excited to announce that our very own MRF Co Vice Chair, Troy Madigan, has been nominated for an NT Young Achiever Award. This NT Government excellence in youth leadership award holds much esteem as I’m sure you know. Such nominations are to honour young people showing strong leadership ability, being able to think creatively and decisively. For youths who help motivate and inspire others to aim high, whether that be in business, commerce and the community. Effect...ive young leaders who are emerging by displaying initiative, innovation and a commitment to excellence. Their positive approach to life and contributions to society are a credit to themselves and their families. Such young people deserve to be recognised , honoured and encouraged. The Miriam Rose Foundation has focus on supporting youth and we are very fortunate to have young people from Daly River stepping up in 2020 into board leadership roles and in the development of the foundation and social enterprises. We are extremely proud for the efforts our young people are putting in to walk with the Elders and be mentored into such important leadership roles. Troy has successfully gone through to the semi finals which will be judged on the 12th February. We are proud of Troy’s nomination and wish him all the best. See more

05.01.2022 This week is a time when people are made aware of who we are. Our people and culture were made up of many different language groups from all over Australia, and now we have many types of people from multicultural backgrounds living here in Australia, and we accept them being here. We invite people to come and sit on country with us, so we can get to know each other better. Through the Dadirri Connection tours, we try to break down the barriers. We invite you to Come and Sit ...and Listen. Our community wants to know you and to understand how you function in cities and towns. We welcome you into our community through the Tours. We want to share with you what it is like to live here, our stories of where we came from, and for you to experience our culture with us. Our spiritual understanding is called Dadirri. It means inner, deep listening, and quiet still awareness. It is from the two language groups of the peoples of the Daly River NT, where I am from. This means to tap into that deep spring within us, it is the gift Australia is thirsting for, it is something like you call contemplation. It connects us deeply with the land, and to have a special respect for it. It is not just our thing; you have got it too. You just have not been made aware that you have this gift to heal yourself and your spirit. Let us celebrate Naidoc week by remembering to sit down together, to listen, and to understand each other, and to respect our cultural ways of being. 02.01.2022 Miriam has asked that we share some recent photos from Nauiyu with you all. Dry season life on Nauiyu is starting. The young men have been fishing the "run off" This is the time when the wet season waters slowly recede and the country shimmies with new life. Miriam specifically asked that we show you all the Barramundi the young men caught. I think she said to say "You wish you were here...". But no surely not- The Senior Australian of the year would never tease peopl...e like that..... With the dry season the roads open up and visitors come. One recent very welcome visitor was Lukas Akapaw. Lukas is a long time friend of the Foundation and Miriam, having been involved in starting the original Association and then serving as our Executive Officer for some very formative years. Lukas was accompanied by some friends who got welcomed to country by Miriam and her family. Everyone was feeling "shiny on the inside". See more
