23.01.2022 If you read my recent about me post, you would know that one of my special skills is clumsiness and that I recently broke my foot! Finally out of my fracture boot and on the road to recovery, it has been so nice to get out into the sun and begin walking again (albeit very slowly) What sorts of changes do you notice when you’re not active? My mood has definitely improved since being able to get out and about a bit more! #exercise #active #health #wellbeing
23.01.2022 Have you ever tried making your own breakfast granola? It is surprisingly quick and easy! Most store-bought cereals are high GI (meaning they spike your blood sugar) and don’t keep you feeling full for long. This breakfast granola is both delicious, filling and nutrient-rich. Give it a try and let me know how you go! P.S - This recipe is Gluten Free Dairy Free... Refined Sugar Free Vegan See more
22.01.2022 I’m back from my short social media detox and ready to face my final stretch of university before I am a fully qualified Naturopath in September this year! For the new faces following me, I thought I should briefly introduce myself I have completed a Diploma of Health Science (Nutritional Medicine) which allows me to educate all of you regarding healthy living However, my real dream is to see patients on-one-one in private consultations to provide personalised ...natural medicine care. For this, I need to complete my Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy) which will be completed in September this year. My own health journey has been the main driver for my passion of natural medicine. Some of my struggles have included post-viral chronic fatigue syndrome, depression, migraines and chronic joint pain. For details on my personal health journey and how I overcame my ailments with natural medicine, check out the About Me page on my website - link is below https://www.miriamrosenaturalhealth.com.au/about-me While I love healthy eating, especially because drastically changing my diet was one of the main drivers to curing my illnesses, I am actually not the best cook! I am constantly burning and breaking things in the kitchen and don’t always get flavour combinations rightYou’ll notice that a lot of the recipes on my website are very simple - and there is a reason for that! Complicated cooking is not my style. I’m all about recipes that are quick and easy! I provide a whole host of recipes and blogs on my website on a variety of topics. I also have a monthly newsletter where I provide details on how you can book in a consultation to see me, as well as FREE resources, downloads and ebooks! Check out the link to subscribe in my bio or on my website. That’s all for now folks. Thanks for allowing me to play a role in your health journey!
21.01.2022 Many modern day farming practise work AGAINST nature. Growing single crops that are not naturally suited to their environment requires far more resources and strips key nutrients from the soil over time. Regenerative farming works WITH nature, where native crops are grown and trees are kept in paddocks to retain moisture in the soil! This is especially helpful during drought ridden times. More and more farmers are choosing to farm regeneratively, which is better for the earth and better for you! The food that is grown on a regenerative farm can have up to 178% more minerals than those grown on a conventional farm. Support your local regenerative farmers at your farmers market or co-op!
20.01.2022 I’m not celiac, but there is more to it than it seems!

19.01.2022 By now you’ve probably realised I’m all about natural forms of birth control and ditching the pill, because of all the side effects and nutrient depletions that it causes in the body. But how do you avoid pregnancy naturally? The answer is FAM, or the Fertility Awareness Method. I’ve been using this method for over 2 years and not only is up to 98% effective at preventing pregnancy, but it really helps you get in touch with your body so you know exactly when your fert...ile window is! Not everyone realises that a woman cannot get pregnant on EVERY day of her cycle, but she is actually only fertile for 2 days! So they pump themselves with hormones to get around only 2 days a cycle when a woman is fertile. There has got to be a better way! For more details on the Fertility Awareness Method, click the LINK IN MY BIO for my latest blog OR use the link below https://www.miriamrosenaturalhealth.com.au//is-it-possible #birthcontrol #fam #fertilityawarenessmethod #naturalhealth #womenshealth

18.01.2022 What is the difference between conventional medicine and naturopathic medicine? We treat from the inside-out. So many common skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis and acne are treated with creams and anti-inflammatories that never really address the root cause. Food allergies, gut dysbiosis, medications and immune dysfunction are among some of the reasons for these common skin conditions. Do you suffer from a common skin condition and are you addressing the root cause? #skinconditions #nutrition #naturalmedicine #nutritionfacts #nutritionmatters #healthiswealth #healthandhappiness #healthyliving #mrnh #recipes #blogs #holistichealth #healthylifestyle #wellbeing #healthtips #organic #healthyliving #tipsandtricks #liveyourbestlife #yummy #food #nutritious #delicious #nourishing #healthblogger #naturopath #functionalmedicine
18.01.2022 Nutritional medicine is focused toward the prevention and management of a wide range of health conditions. Nutritional Medicine practitioners use a range of dietary and lifestyle modifications and nutritional supplementation therapy and body composition analysis. Nutritional Medicine Practitioners draw upon the traditional and evidence-based understandings of utilising food as medicine, along with therapeutic nutritionals; to enable those seeking treatment to manage complex... health conditions such as stress, fatigue, digestive disorders, as well as cardiovascular, hormonal and immune concerns. Through comprehensive case taking and holistic analysis, I am able to tailor dietary & nutritional prescriptions to best suit your individual health goals, incorporating nutritional recommendations and supplementation. 17.01.2022 Some great info on sleep from @atpscience.au Is lack of sleep making you gain weight? Seems like an odd question doesn’t it!? Well, sleep is so important for all functions in the body, but it's especially critical if your goal is weight loss, recovery, and growth. When we sleep, the body undergoes many different phases that aim to reset us and set us up for the next day, these can include but not limited to the following:... ~ Mood. ~ Hormonal balance. ~ Cognitive function. ~ Immune system. ~ Energy Balance. ~ Blood Pressure. Sleep also affects and is equally affected by our appetite hormones Ghrelin and Leptin these dictate when we are feeling hungry and needing to eat and when we feel full and satisfied. Poor sleep can wreak havoc on their balance in the body and lead to weight gain. Are you getting enough sleep? If you struggle with sleep, check out my blog on my website titled 8 tips to achieving a better nights sleep, naturally! 16.01.2022 For many women, the pill has brought liberation and the freedom to choose when they want to have children, allowing them to chase their careers or other areas of their lives before settling down. But the pill is certainly not perfect, and long-term use can deplete all the nutrients listed here. Here’s why they’re so important ZINC - required for immune function, to make vital neurotransmitters, to maintaining the lining of the gut wall and much more... VITAMIN C - eve...ryone knows it’s good for the immune system, but it is also vital for the adrenal glands to support the stress response and for collagen production also! Who doesn’t want beautiful, glowing skin MAGNESIUM - required for over 300 bodily processes including energy production, muscle relaxation, neurotransmitter function and heaps more! B-VITAMINS - important for energy production, mood regulation, hormone production and also cognitive function. SELENIUM - a potent antioxidant in the body, needed for thyroid function! (How many women do you know have thyroid issues...?) VITAMIN E - another strong antioxidant, important for circulation and cardiovascular health. Are you taking the pill or know someone who is? 15.01.2022 Many naturopaths and nutritionists label themselves as holistic, but what does this actually mean? It means that we believe that every aspect of your body, mind, spirit and lifestyle are intimately connected. We use an understanding of all these connections to develop an in-depth treatment plan that addresses the ROOT CAUSE of your symptoms. 14.01.2022 Many weight loss diets rely solely on cutting calories in order to lose weight. But it is estimated that around 80-95% of people who lose weight regain it. Why is this? Well it is because of a complex adaptive mechanism that the body has developed throughout our evolutionary history. But the point is - starving yourself to lose weight will only leave you disappointed later when you put it on again. It’s all about eating RIGHT, not LESS. Below are some great tips for eating by... well that will help you feel your best LONG TERM! Eat whole foods (not processed foods). Choose organic (less pesticides, more nutrients) Eliminate refined grains as much as possible (promotes insulin resistance and weight gain) Embrace healthy fats (olive and coconut oil, avocado, animal fats like eggs) Avoid dairy: if you do eat dairy, eat full fat, organic and cultured dairy (such as yogurt or kefir). Select naturally raised animals (pastures, wild caught and sustainable fish). Eat fermented foods (like sauerkraut, kombucha, yogurt). Fast intermittently. For more info on intermittent fasting, click the link in my bio or below to read my blog all about the benefits of intermittent fasting! https://www.miriamrosenaturalhealth.com.au//why-intermitte #nutrition #naturalmedicine #nutritionfacts #nutritionmatters #healthiswealth #healthandhappiness #healthyliving #mrnh #recipes #blogs #holistichealth #healthylifestyle #wellbeing #healthtips #organic #healthyliving #tipsandtricks #liveyourbestlife #yummy #food #nutritious #delicious #nourishing #healthblogger #naturopath #functionalmedicine
13.01.2022 Welcome! I notice that there have been a few new followers since starting this page so I thought I’d share some facts about myself so you can get to know me a little I’m TERRIBLE at sharing things about myself on social media, all I want to do is talk about health and natural medicine! But I like to know that all the information I read on social media comes from a credible source, and you deserve to know also! I have completed a Diploma of Health Science in N...utritional Medicine and am currently in my 4th year of my Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy). I am also hoping to complete a Masters in Human Nutrition and will officially be qualified as a Naturopath next year! I live in the central west, NSW Australia with my husband. I work part-time in a pharmacy, giving nutritional advice and helping customers identify what sorts of natural supplements might be safe and beneficial to use with commonly prescribed medications I currently have a broken foot Clumsiness is definitely one of my special talents! Thankfully, I’m in the right profession for healing! Nothing a bit of Physio, zinc, glucosamine, turmeric and collagen can’t fix! Thats right, natural medicine can also help treat acute injuries! But I digress. My own health journey is complex, including Glandular fever, Post-Vital Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, a genetic connective tissue disorder (EDS) and depression. All of my struggles only fuelled my love and desire to learn more about natural medicine! I wouldn’t be the healthy, thriving person I am today without it. I want everyone to experience the transformation that natural medicine brings also! For more information about myself and my own health journey, check out the About me section of my website, link in the bio or below https://www.miriamrosenaturalhealth.com.au/about-me #aboutme #mystory #naturopathy #naturalmedicine See more
11.01.2022 So many of us get hung up on how many kJ we are eating throughout the day, when the real problem is the TYPE of kJ we are eating! Not all foods are created equal. 10.01.2022 My values EMPOWER: I want to empower you through education, so you can take your health into your own hands! The patient should be made to understand that he or she must take charge of his own life. Don’t take your body to the doctor as if he were a repair shop. ~ Quentin Regestein HOLISTIC: Modern medicine is obsessed with specialisations. I believe that health can NEVER be achieved unless the whole person is considered, taking into account physical, mental and sp...iritual health. The human body is a complex organism of integrated system, not individual parts! Naturopathic and Nutritional medicine is founded on this principle. EVIDENCE-BASED: Naturopaths get a pretty bad rap. Does it really work or is it just hippie, traditional, wives tales that have had their day? The short answer isno! Modern research and real data underpins everything I say and do! Whilst there are naturopaths and natural medicine practitioners with no real credentials out there practising medicine that is not evidence-based, I am not one of them.
09.01.2022 I’m sure that I’ve shared this quote before but I just love it! Unfortunately, many conventional medical professionals do not consider diet and lifestyle as a major driver of disease. This needs to change! 09.01.2022 I find myself recommending overnight oats as a replacement to refined, high GI cereals for almost every patient! They are quick to make the night before, are nutritious and keep you feeling fuller for longer. There are SO many ways you can spice up your overnight oats and keep things interesting. I don’t know about you, but I get pretty bored if I have to eat the same thing for breakfast every morning...Here are some of my suggestions! Peanut butter (or any nut butter) ...Berries Flaxseeds, chia seeds, hemp seeds Crushed nuts (almonds, peanuts, hazelnuts) Cacao nibs Quinoa Honey Yogurt Banana’s What do you put in your overnight oats?
06.01.2022 WHY do you do what you do? What is your passion? I have recently found myself pondering on this question Studying nutritional medicine and naturopathy is not easy for me - I live almost 4 hours from the University I study at! (Very) early morning trains or late night, long drives mean that I can fuel my passion for natural medicine, but it is not always easy. What keeps me going? My desire for everyone that I come in contact with to know, see and feel the transformation that comes from natural medicine! #passion #lovewhatyoudo #nutrition #naturopathy #naturalmedicine
