20.01.2022 Not a food pic...But relevant to our times. My cousin posted that she recycled the material of a dress and made it into a skirt, a bag and a head band. So I thought I would post this.. I found this chair on the side of the road, on a hard rubbish day. I had always wanted one of these old chairs. I brought it home..one day I would upholster it. Last year my kids asked me what I wanted for Mother's day. I had an idea. Get my old chair reupholstered, an old Sth African man local to my area did a fantastic job. I love it so much... Best part it was rescued from land fill. #recycle #upcycle #landfill #sustainable

15.01.2022 To embrace Meatless Monday I wanted to share some of the very small things I have started to do. 1. Sprouts - Mung bean sprouts. Omg so easy to grow and are delicious in everything - stir fry, wraps, tossed through salads, topper for soups, casseroles ... let your imagination run wild. 2. Coriander - It's taken ages to strike the seeds, that were in my spice cupboard. 2 weeks indoors, then I put them in a pot. So this is 3 weeks...a bit of a long process, will try some seed r...aising soil next time. During iso, I have discovered my love of gardening and the rewards of eating food we grow. As a child growing up in a Sri Lankan family, we had our own Curry Leaf tree - Karapincha, lemons and miniature guava tree. When I visited my Italian friends house, they had a tiny back yard, but every space was utilized by vegetables and fruit trees. I was fascinated and each week when I went there for dinner after school, her dad would show me his veggie patch. I genuinely loved it. My small garden of edibles is starting to take shape - Karapincha tree, Lemongrass, Thyme, Vietnamese mint, Mint, Rhubarb, Capsicum, Parsley, Silverbeet, Sage, Kaffir Lime tree Happy Monday #vegetables #meatfree #plantbased #herbs #gardening See more
