24.01.2022 A lovely review from the winners of the Red Faces NSW travel package, Kerrie and Greg from Victoria: "We were fortunate enough to spend 2 nights at Mirrabook Cottage due to Kelly and Wes' generous donation to S.A. 'Red Faces' (Mental Health) NSW travel package. What a stunning setting and everything we needed in the beautifully clean cottage. Coonabarabran is a lovely and friendly town- we are so pleased we had the opportunity to visit this area." Thank you for staying with us Kerrie and Greg, hope to see you soon.

12.01.2022 WHAT: A day in the Pilliga Forest. WHERE: Just east of the town of Baradine in Western NSW. WHEN: We travelled in winter. Expect very cold mornings. Ha...ve a jacket handy. WHY: To see the largest remaining wild forest in NSW and see the beautiful Sculptures in the Scrub. HOW: I travelled in the ever reliable little Suzuki Jimny (Suzuki Australia ) which more than managed the rough roads and sandy creek crossings. TIME: You will need to allow a full day by the time you get there and meander about. DISTANCE: I did at least 100km inside the Pilliga Forest plus to and from the forest to Coonabarabran. FOOD: You must take your own food and plenty of water. TOILETS: There are toilets at Salt Caves and Sculptures in the Scrub. SAFETY: Let someone know where you are going. Check in at the Pilliga Discovery Centre to check road conditions and get directions and a map. Stick to the main roads. Mobile coverage is patchy. READ MORE: http://bit.ly/2RF7zwz See more

04.01.2022 Come along to our next meeting and hear Dr. Lee Spitler tell us about the Huntsman Telescope at Siding Spring Observatory. This innovative project uses a mixtur...e of commercial off the shelf components and novel custom engineering to see some of the faintest galactic structures ever seen before. Dr. Lee Spitler has a Senior Lecturer position at Macquarie University. This is a great opportunity to gain insights into a great science and technology project undertaken in Australia. More information is available at their website: http://huntsman.space/ or social media https://www.facebook.com/AstroHuntsman/ You are invited to join us together with Lee for a meal at the Coonabarabran Bowling Club Wednesday night April 17th 6:00 PM-7:15 PM and then head off to the Coonabarabran High School to start at 7:30 PM.
