25.01.2022 It's all systems go with the launch of the Cairns Show Miss Showgirl 2018 Entrants at the Rural Ambassador and Junior Rural Ambassador Judging & Presentation event this Saturday at the De Jarlais Function centre starting at 3pm. 24.01.2022 The Cairns Show holds a rich history of tradition for many people in the region. The Cairns Museum on Shield Street has a range of great historical photos featuring the Cairns Showgrounds - Here’s a photo from the 1950s of a family attending the Cairns Show. The Cairns Miss Show Girl contest is a unique and exciting opportunity to be an ambassador for this rich local history. 21.01.2022 2018 Miss Showgirl Awards Nominations are now Open! More information available on our website www.CairnsShow.com.au The Cairns Miss Showgirl Awards seek young ...Cairns Regional Ladies to represent the Cairns Show for 12 months. The role encourages and promotes the Cairns Show Agricultural Movement to Cairns Regional Youth. Entrants are selected for their knowledge, presentation, passion for the agricultural show movement and their community. The competition is no beauty contest, nor is it an intelligence test; it is an award presented to young Ladies who raise the profile of the Cairns Show. The award provides an opportunity to excel in leadership, community involvement, key management and confidence. Are you ready to have a go? MISS SHOWGIRL AWARDS CONDITIONS OF ENTRY 1. Entrants must be unmarried, aged from 18 to 28 years inclusive as at 1st August in the year of the competition. The Awards are open to girls born in Australia or naturalised Australians. 2. The ultimate winner must remain unmarried until the conclusion of the Royal Queensland Show. Entrants must not have been married or have had or having a child prior to State Final Judging. 3. An entrant must have been selected as a current representative of the Miss Showgirl Awards conducted by an affiliated Society to be eligible to compete in Sub-Chamber and State Final Judging. In the event of the local representative being unable to attend sub-chamber judging and a runnerup had been selected then she may do so. Previous State Winners and State Runners-Up in the Miss Showgirl Awards are not eligible to enter again. Local and Sub-Chamber Winners and Runners-Up may enter again providing they are not State Winners. 4. Prospective entrants who are employed or are still in fulltime studies are advised to ascertain in advance that they are able to obtain leave of absence to attend Sub-Chamber and State Final judging if necessary. The State finalists will be required to be in Brisbane the day prior to and the first three (3) days of the Royal Queensland Show. The ultimate Miss Showgirl winner must remain in Brisbane to perform official duties up till and including the ‘People’s Day’ holiday of the Royal Queensland Show. 5. State Finalists must participate as a group in the entire itinerary; otherwise they must withdraw from the contest. 6. Should an entrant enter and win a prize or title and does not abide by the above conditions, she will not be eligible for further participation in the Miss Showgirl Awards and will automatically forfeit all prizes and title associated with the Miss Showgirl Awards. 7. Entrants must accept that any behaviour that will bring disrepute to the Miss Showgirl Awards and is deemed inappropriate by the Showgirl Committee, prior to or during the State Finals, may forfeit their right to participate.
20.01.2022 What a great article from Maisie Morrow as she shares her experience as The Land’s 2017 Sydney Royal Showgirl. Maisie is a terrific ambassador for NSW Shows and women in the agricultural industry. Although QLD and NSW are the only states in Australia to continue the showgirl tradition, the two state show societies run a showgirl exchange trip each year for the showgirls to experience shows in their counterpart states. Competition launch Saturday afternoon 24th March at the Cairns Show Rural Ambassador competition An introductory interview. 3. A formal interview 20th April 4. A cocktail evening and presentation of winners 20th April. 5. The opportunity to represent the North at the regional finals on May 12th. The Regional winner gets to compete in Brisbane at the EKKA for the title of Miss Showgirl Queensland... State Finalists receive free accommodation and VIP treatment for the duration of their stay. 6. Attend the Cairns Show 2018 as a VIP, presenting awards and attending official functions. 7. 05.01.2022 It was an absolute pleasure to be invited to 2018 Cairns Show Miss Showgirl Presentation Function at the weekend. This year's winner, Georgia Hunter and runner-...up, Rachael Davis, were very impressive young women who will be great ambassadors for our city. My wife Yolonde even caught up with last year's winner Marinka Zanetich who was a fine ambassador. Big shout out to singers Jason and Taylor Nealon who performed a very moving version of Jeff Buckley's 'Hallelujah' on the evening. The Cairns Show
