20.01.2022 JUST BECAUSE HE DIDN'T TICK ALL THE BOXES, HE SHOULDN'T HAVE ENDED UP IN ONE! Look at person's face, instead of filling out a form Today marks the 4th anniversary of Mitch's untimely death, due to a System that failed him and so, so many other's and will continue to do so if the system and the processes currently in place don't change!... Mitch wrote that when he got through the hell he was dealing with he wanted to help others, and all of us who knew him, would know he'd do exactly that! The Mental Health System does NOT work and desperately needs a completely NEW effective caring approach, instead of throwing pills at the wall and seeing which one sticks! Unfortunately the Police are usually the first called upon, then arriving at a hospital emergency department and finally ending up in a public psychiatric ward, which can be extremely confronting environment for anyone, let alone someone who is so frighten and disturbed. We'll look back in decades to come, just like we do now with how children in orphanages during the 1940s and 1950s were treated, and think how archaic it was. Let's hope with the Royal Commission looking into the Mental Health System presently, there will be a complete over haul and effective recommendations in relation to how we treat our mother's, father's, brother's, sister's, partner's, friend's, EVERYBODY...because we will if not ourselves need help one day, but we all know someone who does today!
