09.01.2022 The wait is over! The National Trust’s Miss Traill’s House and Garden is re-opening to visitors, every second Sunday of the month from 8 November following COVID-19 closures. This Victorian-era bungalow is the only National Trust property in Bathurst. Visitors can expect a stunning and varied collection of furniture, ceramics, horse racing memorabilia and art, much of it bequeathed to Miss Traill by her ancestors, some of whom were the original settlers of the Bathurst distri...ct. After your tour around the museum, take a delightful stroll through the beautiful garden that, thanks to our dedicated volunteers, is coming to life again. 01.01.2022 It’s Melbourne Cup Day! Visit Miss Traill’s House and Garden and hear some of the stories about the family’s love of horses. Studio portraits of George and Emily Lee, Miss Traill’s grandparents, hang next to a framed photograph of "Merriwee", the 1899 Melbourne Cup winner. "The Barb", another horse bred at Leeholme by George Lee, reached equestrian heights. He was winner of the Melbourne Cup in 1866, as well as twice winner of the Sydney Cup (1868 and 1869) and other big events. Make sure you include a visit to Miss Traill's House and Garden when you are in Bathurst.

01.01.2022 We say "thank you" to our volunteers all the time. Enjoy Miss Traill's garden - pretty as a picture.
