I love to put so much detail in all my boxes and when my customers are pleased, that just makes me jump up and down and do a happy dance. 22.01.2022 PERFECT PAIRS FRIDAYS: ONE FOR THE BEER LOVERS One beer (pale ale), two ways. Firstly, we’ve created a classic beer ‘n cheese board (we’re calling this one ‘cheers’. Get it? Ok, I’ll continue...). Hard cheeses are always a winner with beer and for light fruity pale ale, it balances perfectly with an Australian Edam or a Rubicon Red. Plus the beer lovers vegetable...pickles. ... Next, we’ve paired the pale ale with Burrata (also super light so perfect for a lighter flavored beer). 11.01.2022 PERFECT PAIR FRIDAYS The sun is out but the chill factor is (I do feel the cold super easy) so I was craving an earthy red and a creamy buttery cheese. The cheese I managed to pick up was Brebirousse D’Argental, a washed rind sheep’s milk Brie with a silky, buttery inside. ... Because of unique slightly milky sweetness of the cheese, it goes really well with with an earthy old-world Pinot Noir. I also decided to be a tad pretentious (who me? Never!) and go with one from the birthplace of Pinot Noir- Burgundy. Pair with sourdough crackers or artisan crusty bread, some fresh raspberries or cherry jam and the result is . You can thank me when you’ve tried it Miss Figgy xox Side note: let the cheese get to room temperature so that it becomes gooey and buttery!



09.01.2022 PERFECT PAIRS FRIDAY It’s that time of week again, cheese lovers! Tonight I’m indulging in one of my favourite cheeses...a fresh soft goats cheese (chèvre, which in French simply means ‘goat’. Who’d have thought?)... This one’s easy because chèvre goes with so many things...Malbec, Champagne (which I’m also drinking tonight) and gin cocktails (which I may drink later tonight). But right here, right now, I’m drinking a lovely, crisp Sauvignon Blanc. Because of the bright acidity and grassy notes of sav blanc, it balances perfectly with the creaminess of the cheese. I’m also loving prosciutto for some added saltiness and (surprise, surprise) fig conserve. *Fresh figs for decoration because after all, this is Miss Figgy. Enjoy your weekend, grazers. I’m off now to make a gin cocktail (or drink the rest of the champagne...whichever is closest). 04.01.2022 PERFECT PAIR FRIDAYS Welcome to the first edition of Perfect Pair Fridays, where we’ll be combing our two loves: wine and cheese . Just in time to pop into you favourite deli and bottle-o and stock up for the weekend. For our very first pairing, we thought the weather called for a classic. ... Australia is renowned for its full bodied Shiraz and we have some of the best Shiraz right here in the Hunter Valley (v. handy) due to the warmer climate. Australian Shiraz and the classic English blue cheese Stilton go amazingly well together thanks to their own unique strength and intensity- which actually compliment each other. Add a daub of blueberry jam and....HEAVEN!!! Even if you’re not typically a blue cheese fan (as a lot aren’t), the blueberry jam adds a sweetness that masks the odour of the blue and the result is perfection. But if your toes are still curled at thought of trying blue, Shiraz also works well with any cheeses with body and a little aging (think Edam, Cheddar or an aged Gouda). Here we’ve used a goats milk Gouda and it sure is pretty gouda (sorry, couldn’t resist). Join us next Friday for another match made in heaven. Enjoy your weekend, grazers. And stay warm!
