05.01.2022 Truth bomb alert My biggest surprise when I started my own business was... all the big decisions to make! Being my own boss with no one to answer to felt like a dream come true. ... But the reality is Id actually been conditioned for my entire professional career to be consultative. I was expected to give my professional opinion on almost everything in my workplace. Seek opinion from others. Follow process and protocol. And then make united decisions. But now I was out on my own it was just me. I could do ANYTHING I wanted. And it was kind of scary. I didnt realise how much Id leaned on others for idea development + knowledge sharing in my corporate job. Together we took ideas + opportunities and made them grand. What I lacked, my team was able to fill in the gaps. And I missed this when I started my own business. I didnt think I would but I truly did. Ive had to rebuild my decision making capability. Ive needed to research and solve problems differently. Ive had to find people who had skills I lacked. Its a big world out there. And when its just you starting out in business the world feels even bigger. But its truly worth it. Your wins feel huge. Your work has greater meaning. And you give your best every single day. When you start your own business you grow and learn in a way you never imagined. Your decisions are entirely yours to be proud of. But remember - you still need to surround yourself with good people.
