19.01.2022 BEACH CLOSURE UPDATE FRI 27/11 - UPDATE 27/11 @ 1.00pm... Beaches are now open and SA health has advised water samples are suitable for recreational use. At this stage the beaches in Port Lincoln remain closed on Friday, until we receive confirmation from SA Health that they have received and are comfortable with the water quality test results. We know it's going to be a hot one today, so take care, keep cool and maybe break out the sprinkler or take a trip to somewhere cool like the Port Lincoln library. The national parks are open and there are plenty of beach options within a short drive of Port Lincoln. As soon as the situation changes - we'll let you know! We have no further updates as to the status of the EPA Investigation into the dumping, however we now understand from what has been released publicly that it was treated sewage and that the EPA is not concerned about environmental impacts at this point. If anyone believes that they may have come into contact with the treated wastewater when swimming in the beaches on Wednesday evening or early Thursday morning and start to experience any symptoms of gastrointestinal illness, including diarrhoea and vomiting - the advice is simple, seek medical advice. Please speak to your GP or health care provider.
