25.01.2022 Last week at Kurri Kurri we had a teddy bear picnic day and it was spectacular! The Preschool children celebrated their transition to Kindergarten with a picnic celebration full of exciting sensory activities. The teddy bear picnic was popular with the children and their families. At Mission Australia Early Learning we really enjoy building relationships with our local schools and communities and so we joined up with other services to create this wonderful event in the park. 25.01.2022 A good nights sleep is essential to helping children to be able to concentrate, remember things, behave well - and become a successful learner. Many children have sleep problems, and its important to deal with these problems when they come up, as 50% of sleep problems that start before a child begins school continue into the early years of school. 25.01.2022 Outdoor learning allows children to take risks and learn about their own abilities. They can discover how high they can climb, how well they can balance, how fast they can run and what it is like to roll on different materials and slopes - in a safe and exciting environment. Encouraging children to play outside and creating safe activities and spaces for them to do so is really easy. Learn more here: https://bit.ly/2DKxFc6
24.01.2022 Learning about sustainability and sustainable practices allows children to broaden their view of the world around them. At our Lower Plenty centre, our activities such as recycling, gardening and cultural investigations allow children to become aware of a world beyond themselves, compelling them to become participants in their local and global community. You can experience these sustainability programs in action for yourself, just book a tour of the Lower Plenty centre here:https://bit.ly/2RikSl2
24.01.2022 Messy play provides children with endless opportunities to develop and learn through unstructured play. They can use their imagination and get messy with different materials and textures, using their senses to explore the world around them and develop their fine motor skills in the process. Learn more about the benefits of messy play here: https://bit.ly/2DrfGHw
24.01.2022 As children develop, they need lots of practice and support to develop speech and language. The more often you talk with or around your child, the more words they will learn and use to communicate. The best way to encourage your childs language skills is to focus on fun activities like singing songs or reciting nursery rhymes, rather than getting pronunciation or grammar right. Here are some ideas to encourage talking through play: https://bit.ly/2CPL9By
23.01.2022 Heres a nice write up on how Mission Australia Early Learning Boronia use Storypark to involve Parents and Guardians in their childs learning.
23.01.2022 Its all about BUSH TUCKER this week to tie in with reconciliation week at our Corrimal service. Today the toddlers made some Gluten free triangles with Warrigal Greens (native spinach) apple and cheese. They were very tasty and a great experience from start to finish.
22.01.2022 At Parmelia Early Learning we have been collecting donations of hand bags, toiletries and feminine products to put together bags for #Itsinthebag to be donated to women who are homeless, at risk or experiencing domestic violence. The Kindy children then helped us put the bags together and we took them to our local Bunnings to the drop off the donations!
22.01.2022 Today is the start of National Reconciliation Week. This is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. Mission Australia Early Learning value diversity and are committed to young children having access to resources and experiences that build respectful relationships between the wider Australian community, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

16.01.2022 With the start of the school term just around the corner, it is important to remember that learning to make friends and interact in social environments is a big part of the social development curriculum in early childhood. Social development skills are just as important as cognitive skills, with recent studies showing that positive social skills are highlighted as key predictors for better outcomes in adulthood. Children learn to make friends through 6 stages of play with dir...ect correlation to their age. Read more here: https://bit.ly/2SN19eB

Balance drives a better working world. Lets all help create a #BalanceforBetter. Heres a link we love about building this balance in young children: https://www.levelplayground.org.au/
14.01.2022 A huge thank you to Jodie Harrison MP for a mention of Mission Australia Early Learning Mt Hutton in Parliament recently. In conjunction with recently being assessed as Exceeding National Quality Standards, recognition such as this about the way our service embeds inclusivity and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture within the program highlights the high quality of care and education each child receives. Well done to Paige, Catherine, Marion and the team at Mission Australia Early Learning Mt Hutton!
12.01.2022 The 21st of March is a big day in our services and in our community. Its Harmony Day, where we celebrate Australias cultural diversity. Were celebrating inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for all, from the traditional owners of the land to those who have come from many countries around the world. Harmony Day is extra special as it coincides with the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination The ongoing theme of Harmony Day ...is everyone belongs. Harmony Day is a day of cultural respect for all. By participating in Harmony Day activities, we can learn and understand how all Australians equally belong to this nation and enrich it. Today is also World Down Syndrome Day. Today, people all around the world celebrate the lives and achievements of people with Down syndrome, creating a global voice, advocating for the rights, inclusion and wellbeing of people with Down syndrome. Join us in working toward a more inclusive and respectful community.

07.01.2022 Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Our little ones have been getting into the Christmas spirit all week!
07.01.2022 We believe its important for children to spend as much time in nature as possible. Nature provides opportunities for children to develop their fine and gross motor skills, social and emotional skills, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, communication and language skills - and most importantly lets them have fun while they do it! At our Beresfield centre, the Educators led the children on a bug hunting expedition, encouraged them to explore the backyard in an open-ende...d way that led them on an adventure all around the yard. They found small spiders up high, bees in the trees, ants on the ground butterfly and birds flying in the sky, lizards in the bushes and our worms in the worm farm. Learning time outside is also a perfect opportunity to discuss sustainability. Our worm farm is great at encouraging curiosity while learning complex concepts such as environmental sustainability and animal life cycles in an age-appropriate way
06.01.2022 Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! We would like to wish all our families a bright and wonderful holiday period and we cant wait to see you all in 2019!
04.01.2022 Last month at Bateau Bay we had an incredible open day! Children and their families joined the celebration at the centre for a morning full of activities, art and fun! At Mission Australia Early Learning we ensure quality child care services for children aged from six weeks to six years. Experience the difference with us and pop in for a visit!
01.01.2022 The children at our Eumemmerring centre have been exploring the world of bugs and insects building on their own interests to learn about their habitats and traits! Using their imagination to initiate and extend their own learning, Myah and Robert began building a home for their bugs, developing storylines for their lives and comparing them to pictures they had seen in their favourite book. Imaginative play is such an important part of early learning as children experiment ...with decision making - on how to behave and also practise their social skills. Children learn from experience - from what happens around them, to what they see, hear, smell, taste and touch. They absorb these experiences and use them to make sense of the world in which they live. Imaginative play is so easy to encourage at home, why not try integrating some of these activities into everyday life: https://bit.ly/2Ltrzz5
