25.01.2022 The enthusiasm and commitment of the facilitators and participants in the Literacy for Life Project remains high. The facilitators, in particular, have a genuine concern for each individual in their groups and are taking every opportunity to connect in person or by cell phone.

24.01.2022 There was great excitement in Mozambique on Saturday 14 November. This was a special day with a special event. The Mozi Run had finally come to Mozambique. https://missioneducate.beaterp.io//the-mozi-run-goes-to-/ So much excitement and anticipation had been generated for the event that more than the 13 sponsored runners turned up to run. ... Wouldn’t it be great if their effort was recognised with a response from Australian supporters that exceed their fundraising target? This was the first time that such an event had been held in Beira City. The students and staff were so motivated by The Mozi Run, that they are now talking about making it an annual event. The Mozi Run goes to Mozambique isn't just raising much-needed funds for the Kings of Kings School. It has provided a focus of hope for our students, staff and their families. They were proud to be doing something that would help them and their school through these very difficult circumstances.

24.01.2022 Our Mozambican student runners still need your help as they face the reality of living with COVID-19 restrictions. So far supporters in Australia have raised $2,680. This chart shows how much has been donated to each student's campaign. Wouldn’t it be great if their effort was recognised with a response from Australian supporters that exceeds their fundraising target?... https://missioneducate.beaterp.io//the-mozi-run-goes-to-m/

22.01.2022 We asked one of the Grade 11 students, Fatima (16 years old) to share her story to give you some insights into our student's lives. "I study at King of Kings School. I live with my mother and sister who is also a student. I'm the youngest at home. My mother is a widow and does work in the fields. Things are very difficult for us since Cyclone IDAI last year. ... Because of the cyclone, our crops were destroyed and we had no food. This year it is even more difficult because we will not have any crop production. At school, everything was fine before the Corona Virus. Now things are so much worse. The way of studying that we are having during this disease pandemic has made our lives more expensive. It is difficult to buy food and it is not easy to buy materials needed to continue to study. I am so thankful to God for the people who have been donating money to help us during this time. My teacher and Pastor from the King of Kings School delivered materials to my house so we did not have to buy them. Even in quarantine in our homes, we are being cared for." 19.01.2022 The current pandemic means that you cannot run in The Mozi Run this year, BUT 13 Mozambican students have volunteered to run the 5km for you! https://missioneducate.beaterp.io//the-mozi-run-goes-to-m/ All 13 are students at the King of Kings School who want to raise funds to help the school overcome the challenges caused by the COVID-19 crisis. This is your opportunity to stand with these students to help their school in a time of great need.... Each student has a goal to raise $1000 and they need Australian supporters to sponsor them in their run. They hope that you will help them reach their goal and support their school!

18.01.2022 Health Care Packs at Literacy for Life Project The Literacy for Life Project is not just providing literacy skills for people who cannot read or write. It is also providing life and health skills. Many of the participants are vulnerable to disease because of poor nutrition and inadequate hygiene. Because of the generosity of donors, Health Care Packs have been distributed to Literacy groups in rural communities. These were received with tremendous joy and enthusiasm.... It is often difficult for people living in poverty to obtain the simplest of items like soap, necessary for good hygiene. Many of the Literacy groups have aged people who were unable to receive an education during the civil war. COVID-19 has created an atmosphere of fear amongst this group of people. Your generosity has not just given a bar of soap but has given hope as well. Thank YOU! If you want to make a contribution to this campaign - visit: https://missioneducate.beaterp.io//on-track-with-the-vision

17.01.2022 Meet Sebastiao & Manuel, both in grade 12 and both running the 2020 Mozi Run to raise $1,000 each for their school. We'd love it if you could help them reach some new supporters as they both need $980 to reach their goal. Sebastiao: http://themozirun.org/sebastiao-grade-12 Manuel: http://themozirun.org/manuel-grade-12... We appreciate the help Carlitos got to reach $70 yesterday and hope these Senior boys can get a boost as well...

16.01.2022 Our Mozambican students have now raised $5,015 to save their school. The goal of $13,000 is within reach - they just need your help to get there... Chabir has almost reached his goal - he has raised twice as much as any one of the others. We'd love to see some more donations today to level the playing field and increase the progress towards the goal... $7,985 dollars to go. Imagine the smiles on each one of the students when we report the progress to them!

16.01.2022 The 2021 End Of Financial Year Campaign is all about supporting students like Julia in this picture. She says: "If it wasn’t for Mission Educate I don’t know what I would be doing right now. I would probably be at my parents house caring for my siblings or struggling to get into training. I am single and don’t want to become a mum until I am financially and psychologically prepared for it. I have so many plans and goals that I intend to achieve, and day by day I fight to ove...rcome each challenge I face." Click to read her full story: https://missioneducate.beaterp.io//keeping-dreams-alive-eo Mission Educate is providing general education for children at the King of Kings School and technical education at the Mission Educate Technical Institute. We encourage our students to follow their dreams for a better future. A future free from the chains of manipulation, poverty and hunger. Unfortunately for some, those dreams are in danger. Covid-19 has had a significant effect on Mission Educate’s ability to provide the technical education that the trainees at our Technical Institute need for employment. Our goal in the End of Financial Year Appeal is to raise a minimum of $28,500 to continue the education provided by the Technical Institute. We estimate that we have at least 50 students, female and male who are in danger of dropping out of the course because of financial difficulties. It will cost us $570 to educate each of these students this year. That amounts to just on $50 per month over 12 months. Your contribution of any amount will help them maintain the pursuit of their dream.

16.01.2022 & ! António José Chironda is one of the Literacy for Life facilitators, he shares: "In this period of COVID-19 restrictions, I have been preparing manuals and exercise sheets for the participants, then I deliver them to the houses.... After they have completed the work, I collect the sheets for correction. I call them regularly to find out how they are doing. During the visits and giving them their worksheets I see so much joy and gratitude in the students."

14.01.2022 "It was always my great dream to study agriculture. I tried several times to get into an Institution in another province but never was successful. In 2018, I heard an advert for the Mission Educate Technical Institute on the radio. I was really happy because it was an opportunity to study in Beira near where I live with my husband and children." 13.01.2022 No one could have predicted this time last year that we would be facing a global pandemic. Due to the current pandemic, we have had to cancel this year’s Hats & High Tea. We are saddened about this as over the last 5 years we have raised around $29,980 in donations and given 61 girls the opportunity to complete their secondary education. In Mozambique, the situation is dire. This pandemic came on the back of our cyclone recovery. The Mozambican people are facing great har...dship because of the pandemic, lack of food and disrupted education. You can help. Here is where we can join together to provide 100 food packs to our students’ families. Each food pack consists of staples like rice, mealie mealie, spaghetti, cooking oil, sugar, salt. A food pack purchased in Mozambique will feed a family for one month and costs around $50. Our fundraising target is $5,000. https://missioneducate.beaterp.io/campa/no-hats-no-high-tea What’s more, for every donation of $50 in one transaction, you receive one draw into a beautiful hair package consisting of a GHD professional straightener, carry case and hair products by Juuce and Nak Hair. See our Prize Information tab for more information. We will keep you updated throughout this fundraising campaign. This opportunity to donate specifically to this appeal will conclude on 31 October. Thank you for your support over the years of girls’ education in Mozambique. Let’s see what we can do together!

04.01.2022 Thanks to everybody that has helped the students in Mozambique get started with their fundraising. We're excited to see how several people have chosen to support Chabir in grade 2 who has raised $155! The total is now up to $1,015 raised between the students. If you haven't already decided who you're going to help, can we suggest that you consider helping Carlitos get past the $100 mark? My name is Carlitos. I am a Grade 12 student. I live with my father, two sisters and two ...brothers. We live in Manga and my father is a miner. He is often away from home and I have to care for my family. In my spare time, I like to run and play football. I have been in some running competitions against other schools in our city. When I finish Grade 12, I would like to study Public Health at University. I am asking you to sponsor me because I want to use my talents to make people aware of the need we have in our school. I believe this is an opportunity for me to shine and motivate other teenagers of my age. ___________ Here is a link you can share to encourage others to support Carlitos: http://themozirun.org/carlitos-grade-12

02.01.2022 Can you imagine what it would be like for a five-year-old child to lose both his parents? That was the reality for Fernando, one of our Technical Institute trainees. He writes: My life changed when my parents passed away in the year 2000. I was just 5 years old. I was at a total loss because my extended family rejected me.... Life for me consisted of begging for food and washing other people’s clothes in their homes in the Munhava neighbourhood, a high-density poor community in Beira. I did not go to school. You can read the rest of Fernando’s tragic and inspiring story on our website: https://missioneducate.beaterp.io//keeping-dreams-alive-eo
