08.01.2022 STEM Science , Technology , Engineering and Mathematics Pertaining to all five Learning Outcomes in the Early Years Learning Framework, STEM education encourages children to: * express a wide range of emotions, thoughts and views constructively (Outcome 1) ... * use play to investigate, project and explore new ideas (Outcome 2) * seek out and accept new challenges, make new discoveries (Outcome 3) * experiment with cause and effect, trial and error, and motion (Outcome 4) * recognise patterns and relationships and the connections between them (Outcome 5) ...just to list a tiny handful of information from the EYLF! Here are some great examples of STEM learning at Cobb+Co Museum’s science exhibition! (Photos posted with parent permission)

04.01.2022 We were able to enjoy the recent rain and greenery today when we surprisingly found some water in the creek! Nature is so important in child development. Children are inherent scientists the sights, sounds, smells, textures, etc. of the great outdoors provide all kinds opportunities for STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) learning and more. We can learn about taking responsibility for our environment, we can learn about how to respectfully share our sp...aces with others, we can learn about nature’s cycles like evaporation, seeds, animal life and more, not to mention having a lot of fun discovering and creating! 03.01.2022 EDIT: Lowered my cost of care! Hello, Toowoomba! I just wanted to share a little bit of information about myself. I’ve loved childcare my whole life, and have always been passionate about teaching and preparing our future generations for the lives ahead of them! I’m studying with TAFE towards my Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, which is due to be completed at the end of this year. I currently work in the industry, as well as in retail on weekends, which... is why my available hours are somewhat limited and subject to change (this will not happen often). You don’t need to book me for the entire advertised time, although you’re absolutely welcome to! My sessions do, however, start at a minimum of one hour. My pricing is $20/hour for one child (starting at four months of age), and then $5/hr for each additional child (up to four children at one time). I am up-to-date in my First Aid, CPR and Anaphylaxis training, as well as having a current Blue Card and references (shoot me a message if you’d like to have a look at those). I’m also working on a portfolio of activities that I’ve done with the children in my care, so I’ll never be short on ideas! Last but not least, I’m usually available for last-minute bookings! I will require you to fill in some paperwork upon booking, for the safety and comfort of your family and myself. Thank you, and I look forward to meeting you soon!

01.01.2022 A fun and simple colour sorting activity to develop fine motor skills and colour recognition! Materials needed: some containers scissors... coloured paper/card stock bottle caps that match the paper I cut circles out of the card stock to fit in the bottom of my containers, and wrote the names of each colour to promote making the connection between each colour and its written name. You can use as many different colours as you’d like! This activity also promotes language skills, as we talked about the colours and the bottle caps throughout the experience. The use of the containers’ lids also help to develop fine motor skills, but I left mine out of this experience as they were a little tricky to put on and take off.
