25.01.2022 Community support! How’s this for a cool story? @ailidh.mccall is new to the area and wanted to join a gym but couldn’t find one. She spotted a casual Instagram post that our legends @newyburgerco reshared from our page yesterday and then TODAY acted on it and joined our community for the very first time! Two very cool things. 24.01.2022 Control the controllable One thing that I CAN control is my actions; what I choose to do with my time For that reason, I choose to train. ... I choose to train when I want to, even when I don’t want to. It’s more often than not that bed seems like the more comfortable option when 6/7 mornings start at 4 or 5am. But, I know I aways feel so much better when I choose the less comfortable one. I choose to sweat and move my body daily because it makes me feel good and is my investment in my health and future self. No one else can do this for me. That is my power and my privilege. I ‘get’ to train and take care of my body. Training is self care, it’s a life force. It gives me energy and I am a more vital, productive, responsive, and resilient version of myself when I do While I have health and am able, I will train. I know that I have heard this before, either the exact wording or maybe slightly different... but for some reason it really sank in and hit home. In the context of standing by our values and expectations, whether you’re coaching, training or socialising with colleagues or members. If someone were to do or say something that wasn't in line with those values, we are always in a positio...n to; A) Ignore it and let it slide OR B) Stand up, express that it is against what we do believe in It can be and usually is complex and challenging as we innately want to 'be liked and fit in’... 03.01.2022 SATURDAY SKILLS SWEAT SWIM SIP ... It’s our favourite day of the week and even MORE REASON to look forward to a Saturday! 6:00am Skills Workshop We are focussing on ROWING! I know it’s not sexy and super fun but VERY IMPORTANT! 7:00am Workout We have a really fun partner workout planned and you’ll have such a great long weekend after this! 8:00am Swim Heading to Newcastle Beach for a swim straight after so pack your togs! It’s meant to be a gorgeous morning! 8:30 Sip We can grab coffee, açai bowls, bacon + egg rolls from the infamous Newy Kiosk and chill out on the steps and hang for an hour in the sun! Don’t miss is girls! Be sure to book your spot in skills workshop via Wodify! MONDAY we are CLOSED for Public Holiday except for ONE CLASS @ 9am!

03.01.2022 In today’s workout I; Completed only the 30 minute Fitness Class to ease myself back in Scaled the weight of the dumbbell back to 10kg instead of 15kg... Focussed on depth, quality and consistent pace rather than going flat out Allowed and released the following thoughts all going through my head; I’m so unfit after a week off I shouldn’t have eaten and drank so much in Tassie I feel heavy, gross and slow And instead chose to redirect my thoughts to; I’m going to focus my energy outwards and encourage others I’m going to have fun and ease myself back in this week I woke up at 5am for the first time in over a week and I’m here We are all training a little less and feeling a little yuk around this time which is totally normal! Don’t hold onto those negative unhelpful thoughts. Change them up! Scale the weight back! Be kind to your body. Focus on moving and just being there and having FUN! And as always let your coaches know if we can help! It’s a tricky time of year and normal to dread coming back to the gym! But as soon as you do you’ll no doubt be feeling great and remember how awesome it is to be moving, back with your girls and back into a routine!

01.01.2022 Last class for 2020 If someone had told you on January 1st of 2020, what would unfold over the course of the next 12 months, would any of us have believed them? Not a chance. ... We were not prepared for the closing down of our two sites for 4 months. We couldn’t have imagined being under lockdown for months on end. We couldn’t have anticipated our local businesses, cafes, restaurants, bars and more would be closed and some to never reopen again. We could not imagine the overwhelming grief, loneliness and isolation we would each experience when daily contact with our community was prohibited. What we have learned is that nothing can replace the value of human connection. It is vital for our overall wellbeing, health and happiness. We have learned that we all play a part in our ever evolving communities and that our individual contribution is significant. Our motto has always been that we are Stronger Together, and this year proved that this is infinitely true. Who knows what 2021 has in store for us? Some predict it will be better and we have left the craziness of 2020 behind. Some disagree. All we do know, is that by creating a community that stands in love and support of one another, despite our differences, opinions and beliefs, where women strive to better understand, accept and celebrate each other, we can not be broken. We will not allow the uncertainty, fear and control of 2020, follow us into 2021. The way that we do this, is by becoming more intentional with how we lead ourselves and each other. Leading ourselves with love over fear. So in 2021, when times get tough, remind yourself that you always have a choice. Instead of FEAR Choose love, trust, calm and courage Instead of CONTROL Choose freedom, strength, knowledge and understanding Instead of ISOLATION Choose continuity, togetherness, community and connection We have the power.
