24.01.2022 A fun afternoon with the Yancazos chicks at @crownperth for high tea Purchased some yummy fabrics on Friday from @fabulous.fabrics so I made my outfit yesterday arvo and last night. The fabric is Rami, a natural fiber, easy to sew with. They have so many gorgeous prints atm! I used my own skirt pattern. For the top I literally pinned fabric to Linda (my mannequin) and just cut the shape I wanted. The tie on the shoulder is made up of thin straps, cut on the bias and then plaited. Thanks to @jennifer_barrington for hanging out with me last night eating cheese, plaiting fabric and sewing on a few pearls
24.01.2022 One of my most fav projects
23.01.2022 When @roundededgestyle asked if I could find some gals to sew up some laundry bags for our WA nurses I happily accepted. Our nurses are not allowed to go home in their uniforms. They will be able to put their uniforms straight into these bags and then straight into the washing machine. Im mindful of wastage when madly sewing for things like this but I insisted on asking for a list of nurses names who need these bags, so that our volunteers know who they are making for. We need you to sew zippered bags. Youll need 50cm of cotton or cotton/poly fabric and a 46cm zip. Drop off points are Iluka, Balcatta, Trigg & Churchlands. Let me know if you are keen and Ill email you your nurses name along with a QR code to link you to a Miss Mary video tutorial on how to make these simple bags. Hope you can help!
23.01.2022 Loved it when this gorgeous girl asked me to make her a dress. I happened to have a vintage piece of velveteen that Ive been holding onto for about ten years. Its black with a tiny red flower. I drew up this pattern and it only required one tweak. She loves it, I do too
22.01.2022 How cool is this little dude. His mum @donandsarah came to class with this gorgeous fabric, we cut a pattern from a fav top and stitched it up using the #Bernina overlocker and #Bernette cover stitch machine. No wonder children are so enthused when someone makes them something unique. I want one too! Sarahs other son has put his order in for something, hes chosen his fabric and I cant wait to see it

18.01.2022 Yes I did go to Melbourne Cup it was a fun day and I’m happy to say I did not wake up with a headache I made this skirt and top set. The divine linen fabric is from @fabulous.fabrics I made my own pattern. It’s a gored skirt with a waistband. I started making a top but felt it was too much so I used this scrap of fabric, cut a rectangle, scooped out some armholes, put a split the back with a button so I can’t get it on, and long straps to tie up on my shoulder. I had a lovely day with some of my favorite people @anita_carr
18.01.2022 Contact me if you would like to see any of the Berninas on sale.

12.01.2022 I haven’t posted in a while. Sometimes life throws crap at you and recently it has been a whole lot. I can’t fake it when it comes to social media. I never post at the same time everyday showing my pre photoshoot photos and then look out the window that morning saying what a wonderful day it is. Instead I have been hibernating and of course sewing, it really is good for my soul. After last nights gorgeous group of ladies plea for me to share what I’ve made, I thought I’d better get to it. Hell, I’ve made some nice things! This top I drafted myself. A puff sleeve and check out where my darts are! Fabric is this divine cotton linen, available through me or @potter_and_co_australia I have worn this a lot and I think I should make a pair of pants to match
12.01.2022 The Motley Collection Draft your own Bias Skirt Pattern Wednesday, 8 July 1:30pm - 3:30pm or Thursday, 9 July 7:30pm - 9:30pm Cost $20 This has been the best addition to my wardrobe! Bias cut skirts tend to grab me in all the bad places...until I drafted my own pattern. I have worn this skirt so much already, with a t-shirt or with my boyfriends shirt. The fabric I used is deluxe. I highly recommend using it after youve made your toile. And the elastic waist...the mos...t divine Japanese elastic Ive ever used. Email [email protected] if you would like to join this class! See more
11.01.2022 This week I said farewell to where Miss Mary began. From what started as a few friends coming to sew with me, quickly turned into a business. We sewed in my lounge room, ironed on my kitchen bench, overlocked and cut out on my kitchen table.... After several years it made sense to renovate and build a studio. And what a perfect studio it was. As life would have it, an unhappy marriage led to separation and the thought of losing my space was upsetting. We finally decided to sell our house and well and truly move forward. I must say, this does not come without fear and anxiety. Will I be able to create a lovely space again? Will my students still attend? I am fortunate enough to have a temporary space to get me going whilst I keep figuring out what’s next. I could not have setup this weekend without the help from my beautiful friends @sjmstyling and @deb_callaghan who I met when they came to learn to sew with me 10 years ago. They mapped my layout, lifted furniture, set things up and shopped at Bunnings for me. For this I am so thankful My parents and family have been more than amazing during this whole process. I feel blessed every day to have a wonderful relationship with them all and grateful they always catch me. I am proud to say, whilst Bruno will continue to shit me, we have had an amicable split. A choice we both made for the sake of our children and our mental health. Our new relationships have been accepted and encouraged. What a great start to one of life’s most stressful events. I feel like an adult for the first time haha! Sewing will be in the warehouse, in Balcatta, starting this week! Can’t wait to see you there
11.01.2022 Online classes started tonight and how fantastic it was! These times are difficult for all of us and we need our hobbies more than ever. Im not stopping and I hope you dont either If youd like to join us, please email me [email protected]
11.01.2022 Cocktails & Stitched Retreat 2020 will always be remembered with this past year feeling somewhat surreal, it couldnt have come at a better time. Sewing has been our savior, it keeps us grounded, it keeps us connected. To see 40 beautiful ladies in one room chatting, laughing, sharing knowledge and making new friends was heart warming and uplifting. It was wonderful to meet nine new faces, all of which made amazing garments. It was so brave of several beginner sewists wh...o came along, not knowing anyone when they arrived. They have all walked away having learnt so much more, were welcomed with open arms and now have new connections. It was so lovely to see many mums and daughters together. The usual crew stepped out of their comfort zone by trying new projects and continued to entertain as usual with their jewellery shopping expeditions, laughs and dance moves. All of this would not have been possible without my dear friend @sjmstyling who I met 12 years ago when she started her first sewing lesson with me. There were many days where the chaos of everyday life felt like it was impossible to make this happen. Sarah was sure to keep me on track A gigantic thank you Sarah! A huge thanks to @crownperth for welcoming us. Their staff went above and beyond to help make this event run smoothly. Finally, I am grateful everyday and consider myself to be a middle child amongst this sisterhood that I so very much adore See more

08.01.2022 Flash back to 2010 when I made this bag for Lulu. I didnt think much of it when I made it but now looking back, I loooove it! 04.01.2022 On Friday night Lulu said, I want to make a mini quilt please. I said ok great, start designing! And I want you to write down the size of the finished product. We did the math and worked out how big to cut her pieces. She drew out her pattern pieces on card. I taught her the appliqu process, which she was now doing on Saturday. The rotary cutter became her best friend and even more so when using a ruler! The mini iron, perfect for her, got a thrashing. Next it was mark...ing out her quilt lines and stitching with invisible thread. I cut the binding for her, she stitched all the strips together and then stitched the whole binding onto her quilt. By Saturday night she was almost finished, until I told her shed be hand stitching the rest of the binding on. Lulu kinda cracked the shits admittedly she is a leftie and how on earth can I teach her properly?! I said Id finish it for her. Sunday afternoon she picked it back up again and off she went with her stitching, the best way she could. She finally finished at about 7:00pm and said OMG is this what it feels like to work on something and finish it?! I said yep! She said, I want to make another one! So proud of her effort and chuffed shes taken an interest on her own. Awesome work @lulu_difran See more
03.01.2022 We need your help! When Rounded Edge Style asked if I could round up some Sewists to make some items for our cherished WA nurses, I happily agreed. Im very mindful when hearing about items that need to be sewn voluntarily for different causes. I always wonder who my item is actually going to or has it just been chucked because so many people have been making. This group will run a bit differently...you will receive a nurses name, who will be gratefully awaiting your item. ...Well only be making what is needed, no wastage. I know Ill be using some of my best fabric, knowing it will be appreciated. What we need...a zippered bag 50cm x 50cm, using cotton type fabric. Youll need a zip approximately 46cm long. *Need supplies popped in the post for you? I can arrange this for you. The pattern...I will have a video tutorial for you to follow along with. If you have never sewn zippers before I think youll find this tutorial very simple to follow and it would be great practice for sewing zips. If you get stuck with your sewing I am available to help you through it. Drop off points...Iluka, Trigg, Balcatta & Churchlands. We are only accepting door drops. REGISTER YOUR INTEREST BY SENDING YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS and PREFERRED DROP OFF POINT, VIA MESSENGER. We will assign a nurse to you and send address details. Kelly - Miss Mary Sews & Nicola - Rounded Edge Style
02.01.2022 It’s finished My #liberty quilt! I made up the pattern myself, chose my fav colours, cut the fabric up and lay it all out on the floor to work out the best colour combinations. I stitched up the blocks, then hand quilted the whole thing. I worked out it would have taken approximately 96 hours to hand stitch. I honestly thought this would take me two years The back of the quilt is made up of the off cuts of each block. The binding is made up of left over Liberty strips.... And notice it flips over to the back of the quilt as I didn’t want to frame the quilt with the binding. #libertyfabric is from @the_strawberry_thief Backing fabric @sewmondo_online #aurofilthread from @mashie_v you are a life saver letting me raid your stash and @seaquence thanks for being my personal shopper
01.01.2022 Here is a bit more info for you but beware, I will be bombing you with info regarding every part of the kids program I have been working on
