05.01.2022 International Women’s Day Being a woman is at the core of my identity and my mission. I am a Mum, wife, sister, daughter, friend, and a passionate public sp...eaker about mum life and business. As a business owner, I aspire to become the leading employer of young girls and women in Australia. My connection to this part of my identity was born after having my daughter and losing my mother at the same time. Until that point I had mainly hung out and flat shared with boys, and was not very passionate about anything feminist. I had overlooked comments made in the work place based on my gender (in any senior corporate position I held there were rumours of affairs with my seniors, all of course untrue). I had ignored comments by men I didn’t know about my looks, outfit, hair, smile or the fact I drank or smoked. I chose to stay silent, subconsciously waiting for their approval. I had changed who I was to try and attract a long-term partner, only to discover after 6 weeks the real me wasn’t who they wanted at all. But having a daughter has inspired me to show her a better way. I want to show her how to be a strong, fierce woman. The woman I am today wants to inspire other women. Through my work I want to shed light on mum guilt and set women free. I want to rip apart the secret world of post natal depression and show mums they are not alone. I want to inspire young girls to be brave and take on the world. I want to spread kindness and contribute to the community to save as many children as I can. As a mother I want to show my daughter she can do anything she wants to do. I want to show her the world and let her choose her own fearless path. As a wife I want to love hard and support to achieve our goals and dreams. My goal is not to be a better housewife (although it probably should be) but to work on communication, teamwork and connection so that we can build an empire to take on the world hand in hand. As a sister and friend I want to connect, love and give. As a daughter, I want to make my late parents proud. Whatever your reason to celebrate today, happy International Women’s Day.
