25.01.2022 5 weeks ago we started costuming not knowing if a concert was possible! Tonight will be my last week day class with some of these girls after 14 years of Dance & concerts from tiny dance play to senior year 12 students You have astounded me with your resilience & commitment this year. Feeling very emotional but our studio will always be your home

25.01.2022 A exciting day 3 of our countdown back in the studio doing lots of Maths! Marking out measurements for students! Remember to check your Email! & to dress your student warm for classes! Government regulations advises no heaters! Thats ok! We will be kept very warm working hard! ... Whose this extra warm student? See more

24.01.2022 We have many Artists in our community & this is for you! Our Arts continue in trying times. Choreographers, musicians, artists, Dancers, theatre companies, costume designers, film, photography FOH - BOH & many volunteers that support out performing arts & our Island kids! Did you know that our children have been very lucky to have our own accomplished pianist for over 12 years playing 20 hours a week voluntarily. Thanks to our amazing Alena! ... One click of a finger or a hum you play for us! No matter what we need! We miss you! Thank you! See you back in the studio See more

24.01.2022 Just a reminder we have closed the studio for our communities safety & are working to move to online Dance next week. Our classes will follow our COVID term 3 timetable. We will email all families when organised. We are working through texting parents regarding cancelled classes. ... It was a great 3 weeks back in the studio & our Dancers thrived happily. I am up for the challenge of creating performances via online teaching and I know these girls will be too! We need to finish our year off with lots of Tutus, sparkles & smiles! # note the photo below was taken before social distancing was a thing

23.01.2022 Day 4 of our countdown! This photo reminds me of a busy & fun stage rehearsal.

22.01.2022 Our Beautiful Island Dancers are not in the studio this week. I know our Pre school & hard working seniors will be very disappointed tonight after being back in the studio... we were so lucky & had lots of fun! If you have not received a text please let us know as we are working towards all students to dance online to keep us engaged. We will be supporting all our families to keep all our students dancing #weareallinthistogether... Thanks to Leah for this beautiful sunset photo of Georgia See more

21.01.2022 A big thank you to everyone! Our school is so blessed to have a wonderful community that have worked together so we can Dance again & with many changes! 4sqm per student, no props , no floor work, Ins/outs, cleaning & temp testing from our 1 year olds to senior students they have all had big smiles & I feel so so lucky! So many of our Victorian dance schools are are still shut down after 5 months that will have devastating effects on dancers & teachers. ... # SO our children can continue dance we ask that if anyone in your family is SICK or has the slightest symptoms that your dancer remains at home or go & get tested so we can keep our students in the studio! Its been a long wait for us and I need to remain well too! Our Arts has been shut down not only in Victoria but Australia & World wide. Dance studios, teachers, theatres, artists, musicians, crew, sound, lighting & the list goes on & on for performing Arts around the world. The performing Arts industry & business has had very minimal support from all governments as many are casual workers on contracts so no job keeper & no grants. Support local business so our community can survive! Remember we are a new business too! & what you buy on the Island supports our local area & keeps our children dancing into the future Please take a moment to watch this beautiful Artist & dancer in Italy!

21.01.2022 A Email has been sent to all! Regarding our online classes next week. What a busy 2019/20 has been to save & start a new business with no notice nor intent. I havent even had time to watch our wonderful 2019 performance! So lets all support our children by supporting local! #gwphotography has taken our photos for years & saved our day by filming for us in our 1st year. ... Here is a throw back of a beautiful photo & Amazing costumes made by the very dedicated local PI community members that believed quality dance should be accessed by all! They also designed & hand made 1000s of beautiful costumes for us! So here we are 2020! Online & we all dance to keep our community going & will be supporting our families & future dancers See more

19.01.2022 Our voices need to be heard! Dance families please help. I have been writing to MPs & been busy to put up a fight. We did last reopening & we will again! Dance is not a sport nor a gym. Kids can do dance classes at schools but not private dance schools. ... We are not even able to teach outdoors! How is this different to outdoor ball sports. See more

19.01.2022 What a year! A whirlwind 18 months for our school! As I said to my amazing students this week that have worked so hard & adapted so well that there are many decisions & changes everyday, with that I now need to wait till we have finer details released from the health department before we make any announcements. But great news that Dance Studios were mentioned in the presser today & we can open for 5 weeks! Defiantly not ideal! But we will take it! See you on the same form...at this week & a email will go out to all our families as soon as I know more information #gwphotography photographed our students for many years.

19.01.2022 Our wonderful VCE & senior students! Your commitment to your studies & Dance is to be commended! Your friendship & guidance over 14 years has encouraged so many of our Dancers. 18.01.2022 THiS! Who can you share this too? Don’t just assume a small dance business will be there next year! We can’t loose our Arts Education now! Dance in Bass coast started from small beginnings 25 years ago & is only just being heard with a lot of work over many years! ... Please share for the Arts in Bass coast! #basscoast #saveourdanceschools #thewhitetutu #BassCoastShireCouncil #jordancrugnale #wonthaggiunionartscentre See more

17.01.2022 So! Not great news yesterday from Mr Andrews! Studio Owners along with Ausdance are working hard to have decisions overturned for our classification as Recreational sport & Gyms... At this time all Dance schools are to remain closed. I am confident with a lot of push & noise we can get this changed by the start of term 4.

16.01.2022 What a successful week seeing so many students dancing online! Smiling, laughing & connecting with friends through Dance! A big hearted thanks to all the parents! I have read all the wonderful emails of support with a smile & a happy tear! It was quite sad closing the studio after only 3 weeks but I think this week really showed with over 90 students attending online we can all embrace our new studio for now!

12.01.2022 Well what a year! If your watching football but love dance & a little bit of Fosse! This is my kind of GF! With a bit of class! Style & all that Jazz! With a bit of classy technique Jazz X

11.01.2022 Chooka’s to all our kids that are performing in The Wizard of Oz! It looks like another great production! Tickets still available.

11.01.2022 We have had a lot of enquires in the last few weeks regarding our zoom classes from parents whose children are dancing at existing schools in the Bass Coast area, I find this so sad & time wasting! It is highly unethical & poaching is not a professional practice in dance & is a unacceptable business model especially in small communities & I will definitely ask if your child is currently enrolled at another school locally so we uphold our ethics before money & student numbers.... Our online zoom classes are closed due to safety & the welfare of new students All dance schools are struggling! Please support your dance school! They need you! Our 2021 enrolments for new students are now opened See more

10.01.2022 Go Regional & metro Dance studios! Working all together to help get our voices heard! In June dance studios were deemed COVID safe to open & not a risk! Our Covid plan went further than what was asked to keep our community safe.

10.01.2022 Media Release for anyone that has contacts in the Government or Media. Studios worked hard behind the scenes so we could open Term 3. We now need our communities support.

I am so privileged to have watched them both grow into strong hard working young women that have always come to class ready to help others & always with a smile! Best wishes for the coming months we know you both will be fabulous!

08.01.2022 A Reminder with so many colds moving around our community that for our small business to stay opened your Dancer must stay at HOME if anyone in the family has the slightest symptoms of a cold/flu/ throat/virus/upset tummy/headache This includes any non dancing member of the family. This is to protect our students & staff so we can continue to Dance. We are not immune because we are in Regional Victoria it is not business as usual we are all lucky to have some freedoms lets keep it that way!

07.01.2022 We continue to Dance, Sing with Music & freedom

07.01.2022 ZOOM!! TECHNIQUE! CONCERT PREP! COSTUMES! ZOOM! We can do this! We are a small community! We can do this Phillip Island & surrounds! We have a plan for kids to continue to dance & be in costume! We did have this in mind! ... If our community limits our movements & stays safe we might be back in the studio for our kids & performances to go ahead! This Is my focus! To keep the kids focused! Our kids & families have done a fabulous job! A big Thank you to all! What a great 3 weeks we have had in the studio! With so many smilies! Please give us a chance to move to a timetable & set up a program for our students to dance online. Due to our small community transmissions that are still small but we have no information on how they are spreading all classes are cancelled for this week & we will work for online dance to begin the week after. Please continue to support all of our small business communities as families in our community we will all need it to survive to keep our kids in education & for their future & most importantly their mental health. Our dance school might of been teaching for 20 + years but our new business was only started 4 terms ago. We like many dance & arts industries have not been eligible for any government grants. We are not a business that can remain opened but please support our local fashion & cafes as they in turn support us Phillip Island Dance studio made myself very proud in the last 3 weeks! We did a great job! Keep a eye on your inboxes this week! Please share to your pages to make my work less so dance is our main focus I am thinking of you all x

06.01.2022 A very busy Tutu Saturday fitting our extension classical classes for our 2021 December performances Dates are posted below.

06.01.2022 PLEASE READ THE BELOW LINK. RE - STRENEOUS EXERCISE. All students 12 years & over must wear a face mask when entering & leaving the studio waiting area as directed by the Victorian Department of Health. THEY MUST HAVE A DANCE BAG AND APPROPRIATE SEALED BAG TO PLACE THE MASK IN absolutely no masks in hands at any time while in the the studio. ... If its on! It stays on! We have strict protocols & each dancer is in more than 4sqm of space with 1.5 meters to dance in. We have also cut our Barre - floor work & no use of studio props as we feel it is unnecessary at this time & the students have adapted happily. To all Parents I will leave this up to your wishes if you feel your child can tolerate a mask on while dancing & exercising without touching the mask then they may at any age wear a mask for protection. This is your choice & I totally understand this. I myself wear a mask already outside the work place & only leave the house to Click & collect shopping. I will be in a mask to meet your student at the door as per regulations. I did wear a mask last night to teach in & found it quite hard to breath with oxygen levels rising & lowering especially while jumping. We have done a fabulous job getting our kids back to dance & a big thank you to everyone! I am more than happy to be contacted if there are any questions

06.01.2022 Merry Christmas to all our wonderful Dancers’ & their families

05.01.2022 We hope you all received our Email. Changes are happening everyday! So we will continue to engage & support our students to find a way to dance & perform. I really can’t understand why regional Dance schools are not opening being a safe Covid space in June & that social distance in our classes is a Creative Art that has been apart of our teachings for over 1000 years. So here is our 1st concert photo after being re established pre pandemic & is the photo I choose before we... start our term 4 of our 2nd year performances. We can do this! Support local business as they support us! #rebeccalenaphotography your amazing for volunteering your time x See more

05.01.2022 Great News today! Happy Dance! This is big! Thank you to everyone who shared our posts & filled out petitions so our voices were heard so our children can dance. Much work has been done by so many people. I will have more info early in the week as it comes in & will make an official announcement once I have our directions & dates from government on reopening

05.01.2022 Sadly & unfortunately late last night the Government has reneged on their reclassification of Dance schools after the Ausdance release. No one saw this coming after we were reclassified as creative industry For our industry we have been hugely let down again. To give & then to take away is just so disappointing. So we are back to square 1 to be heard by government! ... That dance is not a sport! Hang in there Dancers we are not giving up! As yesterday proved decisions can change in hours. See more

04.01.2022 Today our School lost a very special member of our dance community who spent over 20 years advocating for quality Arts education in classical dance on Phillip Island. Kaye Wilkinson & Denise Cassells saw a need for the local children to have a opportunity to have access to qualified teachers in all forms of dance. Small beginnings & many years of hard work saw a ballet school formed via years of voluntarily work. Countless accounting, Admin, sewing, staging, accessing teac...hers, from 2 students to 100. Hale the beautiful Kaye Wilkinson Thank you to her family! for lending us your mum so our kids can dance! Big hugs Denise we lost a Jewel today! Merde

04.01.2022 Today we finished an Amazing 5 weeks of rehearsal to produce a wonderful socially distanced performance in the studio. We finished our year with smiles, costumes, lights & fantastic dancing from all our students. Filming class by class all week I can’t thank #basscoastmedia enough for the many hours of work so we can produce a memory of all our hard work this year

03.01.2022 A Big Thank you! Bravo to all our families! Our first week was fantastic! What a great job from all our students! The smiles, joy & happiness on our students faces made these hard times & changes to our timetable all worth it so our children can continue to Dance! Please take note. ... our times are a Sharp in/out so our timetable can flow after cleaning. All children must have an adult at the door for both drop off & pick up for safety & if you have any questions about times I am happy to help. Remember we can only re- open with strict guidelines with many changes for all our safety
