19.01.2022 I affectionately call this next GUEST TEACHER Baby Shannon. Her choreography is very THEATRICAL and she can clean a routine like nobody’s business!! She is a wonderful teacher and choreographer and has an extremely bright future as both a creative and a performer. Ellyn is a passionate young performer and teacher. At 18 years of age she moved to Sydney and trained at ED5 INTERNATIONAL for 2 years gaining her an advanced diploma in performing arts under the guidance of many... industry professionals. Since graduating in 2017, Ellyn has performed both in Australia and internationally. In 2019, Ellyn performed off Broadway in NYC as part of the touring cast of Girls on Tap with Sally Dashwood. Last year she was set to be the assistant director and choreographer in ‘Steppin Out’ (Chappel of Chappel) in Melbourne with Nineteen98 Productions. Ellyn does regular corporate and Cabaret gigs all over Sydney as a dancer and singer. She has a passion for musical theatre but is versatile in most genres of dance. When she is not performing, she dedicates her time teaching young dancers around Australia. Miss Ellyn’s choreography is bound to inspire. 16.01.2022 Our next GUEST TEACHER specialises in teaching TAP and HIP HOP. We don’t have any tap classes in the workshop but it’s definitely a genre I’d like to introduce to MSDS students when the time is right. Taine has been passionate about the performing arts industry from a young age, starting dance lessons at the age of 4. By the age of 8 he was a part of the Tap Pups, being trained under Dein Perry’s Tap dogs. He instantly fell in love with tap dancing. Through being a Tap Pup... Taine has had many amazing performance opportunities such as; Carols in the Domain, Sydney Tap Festival, v8 Supercars, New Year’s Eve, So You Think You Can Dance and Dance Academy. Recently he has also had opportunities to perform professionally along with some of the Tap Dogs, a highlight being performing on a submarine in Sydney’s Darling Harbour. Taine studied full time for 2 years at ED5 International where he received an Advanced Diploma in Performing Arts. Throughout the course he had the opportunity to perform alongside industry professionals at some amazing industry events including; Arnott’s Gala Ball, a wedding event alongside Marcia Hines, Nicole Fitzsimmons Foundation Ball, Save our Sons and the Ocean 8 Premiere. Through his training and experience Taine has found love for all styles of dance and has found a particular passion for also teaching Hip Hop. Taine loves being a dance teacher as it allows him to share his knowledge and passion for the arts with the younger generation. 11.01.2022 This next GUEST TEACHER and I were both trained from a young age by the incomparable Linda Shaw Wilson. A teacher who has inspired some of the most passionate and successful dance professionals in the Illawarra. Hannah is an exceptional dancer, and teacher, I’m thrilled to have her on board. Hannah is a Professional Dancer with 7 years industry experience. At 3 years old she began her training under the direction of Linda Shaw in RAD Classical Ballet, Lyrical/Contemporary and... Jazz. Hannah completed her RAD Examinations with Distinctions from Pre-Primary to Advanced 2 and completed her HSC Dance with mark of 96, before continuing her full-time training at Brent Street under the direction of Jason Winters and Rani Luther. Hannah began her international career in 2014 at Universal Studios Japan as a Face Character and Beauxbaton Ballet Dancer. She was a part of the Grand Opening and inaugural cast in 2015 of Harry Potter World in Osaka! After two years with Universal she moved to Germany to work as a Showgirl at the Palazzo in 2018. Hannah then began a contract as a Dancer/Aerialist with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines where she performed on board Freedom, Quantum and Allure of the Seas travelling through the Caribbean, Europe and Japan. Hannah has a Certificate 3 in Fitness and is currently studying her Certificate 4, she cannot wait to continue teaching and share her knowledge with passionate and dedicated young students! In the past 25 years Martin has appeared on the small screen in shows including Home & Away, Water Rats, Young Lions & All Saints. Feature films include Iron Sky, Schapelle and The Matrix. Martin has also starred in musicals including South Pacific and Little Miss Sunshine. From the many TV commercia...l campaigns, he has sung for McDonalds & eaten Lamb for Woolies but is best known for Easy Off Bam. 07.01.2022 It has brought me so much joy to finally launch the Preschool Dance program at MSDS. These tiny humans have been training at MSDS for three weeks! May this be the beginning of a long and triumphant dance journey. When it comes to child development it has been said that the most crucial milestones in our life occur by the age of 7. The great Greek philosopher Aristotle once said give me a child until he is seven and I will show you the man. It is my experience, as a teach...er, that a dancer’s work ethic, resilience and focus are formed in these early years. These qualities often translate to experiences beyond dance education later in life. Teaching experience and energy are EVERYTHING when working with this age group. Preschool children are sponges and these formative dance years are perfect for developing creativity, classroom behaviour, social skills, coordination, musicality, balance and confidence. In just three short weeks I’ve already seen massive growth across these categories. Preschool classes at MSDS take place every Saturday between 9am and 10am. We continue to grow and refine our skills every time we step on stage. Some really amazing performances in our section- AMAZING precision and energy from the other competitors. Thank you for giving us something to strive for. To all my students, both present and past, I want to mention how wonderful it is when we lift one another... up and support one another. We all share a common love of dance and we should all be treating one another with warmth, kindness and respect.
