24.01.2022 Coconut Mud Cake A service, or curriculum, which implements the Reggio principles creates rich and meaningful environments that invite children’s enquiry bas...ed exploration, investigation, imagination and creativity. This is just one reason why early childhood educators have the best job in the world, they are able to capture children's imaginations!
23.01.2022 Bring on messy play! Extending a child's interest with "pot of tea." I wonder where their imaginations will go on this exploration? Happy Friday!

16.01.2022 Missy’s Family Day Care goes on our first excursion! Sadly we have some friends away sick today, so we while there was only two children, I thought I would be brave enough to tackle our first excursion. Where did we go? Park ... How did we get there? A 5-minute walk down the road. Who went? Child A, Scarlett and Missy. What safety pre-cautions was taken? Risk assessment form was completed, an excursion form was completed, first aid kit was packed, ensured the children’s needs were meet: Hat, sunscreen, food, water. Off we go! We all held hands to ensure everyone stuck together. Along the way to the park we stopped to wave to a bus, Scarlett picked a flower, Child A was curious about a yellow sale sign. We had to cross two roads to get to the park. We all stopped, looked left, looked right and looked left again, waiting for Missy to inform the children when it was safe to walk. YAY we made it to the park. Child A and Scarlett explored the swings, sea saw, the slide, Scarlett attempted to walk across the plank, walking threw the rocks and we stopped for a little bit of water and food. While Child A and Scarlett were having turns of the swings, they worked together to count 2,3 1,2,3 They repeated to each other as they swang back and forth having giggles to each other. Child A used his helpful hands to help push Scarlett on the swing. Great team work. Child A was getting frustrated with the wind, his hat kept blowing off. Windy Child A kept telling Scarlett every time someone’s hat blew off. What a busy tiring morning we all have had. Assessment of learning: So many learning outcomes were explored during our excursion Establish and maintain respectful, trusting relationships with educator as the children were able to listen with respect to ensure the safety of themselves and others during our excursion. Show interest in other children and being part of the group we all worked together on the swings, took turn on the slide and explored the large rocks together as a group. Begin to recognise that they have a right to belong to many communities as we went for our first excursion out into our local community park. Principles: High expectations and equity Practices: Learning Environments

09.01.2022 The children have been loving the wild life around our house, the kookaburras, butterflies, lady beetles and crows. Extending on their interest we adventured off into the community to the nature park. The children were so excited to find all the different animals in each enclosure... we found a wombat, pythons, dingos, a bull, kangaroos, peacocks and many more.
09.01.2022 Tomorrow Missy's Family Day Care is re-opened at Springfield Lakes! :) Looking forward for the children to explore our new home environment.
07.01.2022 As the outside cars are our new interest, we explored with road safety... Traffic lights. We sat together on a mat and read Red means stop. This led to watching a small video on YouTube; Leo the truck. Leo builds a traffic light so he is able to drive on the road safely. We discussed what the colours of the traffic lights are and what they mean. The children seemed excited to make their own traffic lights; so we used nature to add on to as collage; we picked green leafs, ...red flowers and yellow plants. Time to make our traffic lights with nature. They look great!
06.01.2022 Many different words and expressions coming from the children as they are exploring our nature area. They seem excited by our new area.
06.01.2022 Welcome to our morning high tea!

03.01.2022 Scarlett is all ready to celebrate book week.
02.01.2022 This morning we were doing pencil drawing outside. One of the children carried their piece of paper down to the grass and started counting "1,2,3." We extended on the paper and counting, we made paper aeroplanes! Together we learnt which type of aeroplane fold made the aeroplane fly the longest distance. Before we got our aeroplanes to fly we counted "1,2,3" and pushed the aeroplane out of our hands and into the wind. Together we explored that wind can go different ways, we needed to change the direction we were flying our aeroplanes.
