01.02.2022 If you're looking for a comfy way to 'join' Mistral II's restoration crew, maybe now's the time to drop hints to the family for a Xmas present you actually want!. Get yourself into a gorgeous plush navy-coloured hoodie or dusty-blue unisex t-shirt from our Ship's Shop. https://www.windewardbound.com.au/ships-shop/ Here's an action shot of Captain Sarah in the workshop, wearing her hoodie. If you're wondering what 'Blue Water Warriors' means, you can read all about it in the book of the same name, also for sale in our Ship's Shop. It's a rollicking read based on accounts from her ship's navigator, telling the story of Mistral's history and adventures in the very first Sydney to Hobart races. All profits go into Mistral's restoration. We love having your support and we'd enjoy seeing more people wearing our special boat's merch.

22.01.2022 Success! Mistral II is afloat again. Our careful preparations paid off it took 50 minutes for seven pumps to empty her out and up she came! We're now cleaning and checking for leaks. Our crew and volunteers and supporters did an incredible amount of work and we can't thank them enough. Best of all, our youth skills M.I.S.T.R.A.L. training program can now begin on 18 May. It was delayed by COVID and then by Mistral's temporary dunking. We're ready to welcome nine keen young Tasmanians aboard to the program to come and learn with us. Thank you so much for offering to help, making donations and for letting us know that you care about Mistral II.

19.01.2022 Thank you to our generous supporters who've donated money towards replacing our bandsaw and re-floating Mistral II. You've helped immensely. Special thanks to @tas_ports, Kedge Marine and @coateshire for your expert help. We're on track to raise her up and pump her out next week. If you've walked past the Mistral II it might look like not much is happening, however we've salvaged what we can, we've had divers down to look at her, our team and shipwright have busy up in our w...orkshop preparing things we need in order to re-float her, and we've made a plan with the help of some clever people. We really appreciate your well wishes. We'll keep you updated. If you'd like to join our mailing list or our crew of volunteers please visit our website for more info: https://www.windewardbound.com.au/volunteer

19.01.2022 This is an amazing opportunity for some of our older ex -trainees.

08.01.2022 Help! We've salvaged timber and some tools from the submerged Mistral II but our expensive bandsaw is kaput. If you'd like to help us, right now we really need assistance to pay for pumps and a new saw. All donations are tax-deductible. http://ow.ly/XRjk50ElZor

07.01.2022 In the early hours of Saturday 10 April 2021, Mistral II filled with water and is currently sitting on the bottom alongside Constitution Dock having a bit of a rest. Mistral is safe where she is, currently secured to the wharf by standard vessel mooring lines, and an exclusion zone has been established on the surrounding wharf, to ensure community safety. We are currently undertaking an evaluation, and developing plans to pump her out when she is ready.... We would like to thank Tasports for their support over the weekend and we will continue to provide updates throughout the week.

03.01.2022 Timing! Mistral II's temporary trip to the bottom of the harbour unfortunately delays our next intake of young Tasmanians who'll be taking part in our hands-on M.I.S.T.R.A.L. job-ready program. Know about this life-changing training? Read about it at: http://ow.ly/TVSN50ElZKc

31.12.2021 View looking towards the for'd half (mainmast for'd). Openings for saloon and galley skylights and focs'l hatch (right for'd). We'll start on the main cabin soon.

20.12.2021 If something's worth doing, it's worth doing beautifully. All of our deckbeams are dovetailed in, epoxy glued and bolted home with silicon bronze bolts, kindly supplied by Australian Brass and Bronze.

10.12.2021 All the deck beams from Midships Aft now installed and looking good.#Workskills #Windewardbound #Mistral11 #MISTRAL

28.11.2021 Captain Sarah and two of our M.I.S.T.R.A.L. trainees working on some deck beams for Mistral 11. Hard work in the workshop as well as on the boat. You should come on down and have a look. #MISTRAL #Workskills #Mistral11 #Windewardbound

10.11.2021 "What's going on under the canvas?" That's a common question when people stop by to ask us what's happening underneath Mistral II's canvas canopy. That's fair enough from the outside it can look like not a lot's happening. All the work so far has been taking place under the covers (which, by the way, provide a warm and dry work environment). We're so pleased with the progress only two halfbeams each side of the cockpit to go and then the stern section is done! ... This week we've welcomed another enthusiastic new trainee to our successful M.I.S.T.R.A.L. job skills training program. He'll learn a lot from working with our two experienced shipwrights.

02.11.2021 Two more pictures of Mistral and the progress our amazing shipwrights have been making. Went and had a look today, she is looking great.

26.10.2021 It's been a while since we updated you on Mistral II's progress sorry. It's been a busy time. Things are really coming along. Here are some of the six half-beams we've fitted ('only' 14 to go). The half-beams run along the sides of where Mistral's cabin and cockpit will go. This coming Monday we'll welcome our newest group of trainees on the M.I.S.T.R.A.L. work skills program. They'll join our brilliant shipwrights next Monday and get stuck in, learning all kinds of new sk...ills. We'll be so pleased to welcome them aboard. If you'd like to 'buy a half-beam' or otherwise support the work we're doing to restore Mistral II so she can become a sail training vessel for young people, please visit our website: www.windewardbound.com.au. You can join our mailing list, by clicking on the link at the very top of the website, to hear all the things that are happening with Windeward Bound and Mistral II.

14.10.2021 Don't we live in the most SPECTACULAR city? This beautiful shot was captured down on the waterfront yesterday as the PINK SUPERMOON went down behind Mt Wellington/kunanyi and we are IN LOVE! : @katypotaty77 via Instagram
