23.01.2022 This year, from the 11th to 17th of October, Australia recognises National Carers Week a week to acknowledge and celebrate carers across Australia from peop...le who provide care and support to a family member or friend and in our case wildlife carers who look after our unique wildlife. it also happens to be National Wildlife Refuge Week in the USA so we are bringing that to Australia and with that we are doing a double shout out to our wildlife sector volunteers this week. As a national not-for-profit, Two Green Threads supports Australian wildlife carers with a mission is to inspire, support and rejuvenate the many individuals who invest so much of themselves in helping native wildlife. Today, we'd like to take a moment to say a special thank you to our wildlife carers for all that they do
18.01.2022 Happy World Wombat Day to all the wombat lovers around the globe
18.01.2022 Jemima, Teeny and Miss Giddy Huff Puff have moved to a bigger enclosure away from the house to start the distancing from humans stage. All are settling in although Teeny is avoiding the camera in the daylight
12.01.2022 Freezer chest needed. Our freezer chest just gave up working. We are looking for a replacement. Does anyone have a spare one which is no longer needed? If so pl...ease contact us on 48852008. Thank you.
11.01.2022 As members of Wildcare we were heavily involved in the fire recovery for wildlife post the summer fires. One of the affected property owners has written a heart wrenching story. It is certainly worth the read to see the trauma so many Australian people and animals endured. https://rollickfarm.com/blog
11.01.2022 Thank you to our wildlife carers for all that you do
11.01.2022 Off he goes! Einstein is now free.
09.01.2022 Prue, Nellie, Betty and Mabel all love their afternoon walks through the paddock. They graze while I collect native grass for them to eat inside. They run and jump and hide and get good exercise coming back up the hill. It’s a lovely time in our day that we all enjoy.
03.01.2022 Einstein’s footprint this evening!
02.01.2022 Two Green Threads is acknowledging National Carers week and Wildlife Refuge week this week. Finding a healthier balance between caring for others and caring ...for your own needs is critical for anyone in a helping profession or caregiving role. The definition of ‘balance’ is, however, your definition and not what others think you should have. It needs to be a conscious consideration of what your mind and body needs. Self-care is not an all or nothing affair. A little bit every day (or most days) goes a long way. Take a few moments of stillness in your day today - do some breathing through your nose for a min or two, take a stretch of your neck and shoulders and relax your face and jaw muscles or savour some jolts of joy moments during your wildlife volunteer role with your charges. A little bit of self sustainment every day (or most days) goes a long way.
02.01.2022 Einstein is in the release enclosure almost ready for the gate to be opened. He has been in care longer than we had planned but he is in fantastic health now and ready for the big wide world. I absolutely adore this boy, we have been through so much to get him to this stage. I will miss him!
01.01.2022 Teeny, one of our pinky bubs from last year is now a big girl! She will be moving to an enclosure further from people very soon so she can become de-humanised ready for the real wombat world.
01.01.2022 A huge thank you to Emily, Matt, Josie, Annie and Hattie for our super new off-road wombus!! We will do a few wombat proof modifications but initial test drive was a massive success!!
01.01.2022 Babysitting two little girls for the day. So precious and gorgeous
