06.01.2022 Do you throw your empty juice bottles away in your household garbage? If you do, DONT!!! Nicotine is a serious poison. The nicotine in an empty bottle, nicotine bottle or juice bottle, will find its way into the ground and will damage our ground water. One bottle makes little difference but when you add up all the nicotine bottles thrown away, it is alot of nicotine entering our ground water. How should they be disposed of without damaging the environment? Read my next post.
05.01.2022 What do you do with your empty juice bottles and nicotine bottles? If you have added nicotine to your juice, even if the bottle is empty, there is enough nicotine residue left in the bottle to harm our ground water, when combined with.all the other juice bottles discarded every year. Remember nicotine is one of the deadliest poisons on the Australian Poisons Schedule. Most Chemists are participants in The RUM Project (Return Unwanted Medicines). They will take unwanted prescr...iption medicines from you as a free service. These medicines are destroyed in a manner which will not harm the environment or pose a risk to fellow humans. Chemists are not obliged to provide this service. They can, and often do, refuse to accept your nicotine. You can argue it is a prescription drug but still only some chemists will accept your empty nicotine contaminated bottles. Dont dispair, you can still be environmentally conscious.. All local councils do a regular chemical clean up day. These days are designed for householders to be able to come to a central collection point to dispose of chemicals, such as paints, insectides and cleaners, in a safe manner. Most councils run these on a quarterly basis. Some councils have a pernanent collection point open all year round. Contact your local council for their chemical deposit open days. You can store your empty bottles at home and deposit them in one go. Make sure the lid is securely tightened on the bottle. If you have young children, a spot of glue on the bottle tread before winding the cap on tightly, will assure the bottle is permanently closed. Store these in a box with a lid, in an out of the way place. If your council does quarterly collections only, you could write the next collection date on the box so you do not miss it. Disposing of nicotine contaminated bottles via your chemist or council is free. Disposing of your nicotine contaminated bottles in land fill, via your garbage bin, is very expensive to OUR Earth.
