Marty with the classic Aussie lamington cake from the small bakery in town (which are honestly some of the best wev...e eaten anywhere in Oz), a cuppa (short for cup of tea) and a beautiful sunny day in a typical Aussie backyard featuring a BBQ in the pic. We just arrived in the small town of #Mitchell, Queensland. Its known as the gateway to the Outback and population is about 950 people Weve driven 350km off route to come and visit one of our best friends and her family and were happy to slow down for a few days and take in country living for a while. #outbackliving #lamingtoncake #eatineverycountry #mitchell @romarevealed

23.01.2022 12 July 2020 Public health alert: Crossroads Hotel COVID-19 warning The Queensland Government has issued a public health alert urging Queenslanders who visited ...NSWs Crossroads Hotel between July 3 to July 10 inclusive, to get COVID-19 tested and isolate immediately. The busy Crossroads Hotel, located in the South Western Sydney suburb of Casula, is the hub for multiple COVID-19 cases. Deputy Premier and Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Steven Miles said the outbreak was concerning and he encouraged Queenslanders to respond appropriately. Any Queenslanders who have been to the Crossroads Hotel from July 3 to July 10 inclusive should get COVID-19 tested as soon as possible and then immediately self-isolate, said Mr Miles. The hotel is a busy stopover for many travellers, so it is very likely that there are a number of Queenslanders who have been there during this period. Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young said NSW Health had set up a pop-up clinic in South Western Sydney where hundreds had been tested already. We have seen cases increase exponentially in the greater-Melbourne area and now there is a growing cluster in South West Sydney. Critically, we have also seen community transmission rapidly grow within just a few weeks, said Dr Young. It is important to remember that we are all in this together. The onus remains on our community to remember that the pandemic is far from over. We need to rapidly respond to outbreaks like this by testing and self-isolating. 15.01.2022 SOME COUNCIL FACILITIES TO REOPEN ON SATURDAY, 16 MAY 2020 Last week the Queensland Government announced its Roadmap to easing Queenslands restrictions aroun...d COVID-19. As part of these easing restrictions, from Saturday, 16 May, Council will reopen all parks, playgrounds, skate parks, outdoor gyms and libraries. Restrictions of 10 people per facility will remain in place as per the Queensland Governments directive. Council will continue to monitor these facilities and undertake frequent cleaning and disinfecting measures. Residents are asked while at these facilities to continue social distancing, observe good hygiene practices and not to visit facilities if sick. Further information regarding Maranoa Libraries: Surat, Mitchell and Roma Libraries will reopen from Saturday, 16 May with all other libraries to resume normal hours from Monday, 18 May. Public access for computer use will be by booking only. Residents are able to book a one hour session per day by contacting their local library. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. Only 10 people will be able to be in a library at one time. We do encourage residents to be mindful that other patrons may be waiting and to not stay on the premises longer than needed. Roma, Surat and Injune Visitor Information Centres will reopen on Monday, 18 May. 15.01.2022 Do You Know ? We believe Bill Graham, well-known Local Grazier and true Cattleman is probably our LONGEST CONTINUING Customer. At 82 years old Bill continues... his weekly tradition to this day, purchasing 3 old style unsliced Hi-Top loaves that must be burnt on top, every Friday. We use a 3 strap 2 POUND Tin for this that was especially kept from the old Wyndham Street bakery (Now Crazy Clarks) which relocated in 1996. We believe it belonged to either Noah or Moses, but just like Bill, it is still going strong. This is the only one of its type we have. In times gone by Bill would come to town on Friday, and refresh himself at the Royal or Queens Arms hotels with his good friends George Taber Snr. and Barney OBrien, now sadly both departed. Their wives would do the weekly shopping and they would all then travel home. Simple Times. Great Times. We thank Bill and his family for their continued support for over 52 years which would have included purchasing more than 8112 loaves to date !!! and supporting three generations of the Nugent Family and their staff. From the days of Ted and Norma, Robert and Donna and now Anthony Nugent. If anyone else has been a longstanding Customer please let us know.
