25.01.2022 Wallaman Falls - Girringun National Park, QLD, Australia ______________________________________ Wallaman Falls! We woke up before dawn to hopefully catch what was forecast to be a very foggy/moody morning - and boy did it deliver! This is a shot of Olivia and our friend Rukshi in a huge panorama. The fog and low cloud was only just starting to lift!... Wallaman Falls is the highest single-drop waterfall in Australia at 268m. Every time I stand under it - Im blown away by how huge this force of nature is (literally this time - the spray was extreme and we got drenched) Instagram: www.instagram.com/mitchraephotography

24.01.2022 Great Keppel Island, Australia ______________________________________ Yes. Yes the water was actually those colours! I have a few hundred shots to prove it ... I’ve often wondered how early settlers/explorers went about naming all the places they found. I’m sure they thought long and hard and put a lot of effort into the names. Hey Dazza, what was the name of that long beach we just walked past? -welcome to Long Beach Instagram: www.instagram.com/mitchraephotography

24.01.2022 Icelandic Horse ______________________________________ It’s so easy to get focused on the negative or to talk about the things we don’t like. I see it on my socials everyday and I feel like that rubs off on me. I know I can be bad for it myself. I think we need to talk more about the good stuff that is happening out there. I need to make more of an effort to be Pro-stuff. Rather than anti-stuff I’m definitely Pro-photography. Im Pro-Cowboys (the NRL team) I’m Pro-Poker (t...he you gotta know when to Hold’em know when to fold’em kind) I’m Pro-travel. I’m Pro-Dog (my dog Baxter is certainly the goodest of boys) I’m pro-family (I love my wife) and I’m certainly Pro-friends. Whether they be the ones I know in real life or the ones I talk to on here! Some of those have even started overlapping because of photography. I’m also Pro-Icelandic horses. And they are Pro-sugar cubes and this one in particular Pro-JustinBieber Haircuts. 24.01.2022 Mount Cook National Park, New Zealand ______________________________________ We don’t have snowy mountains like this in North Queensland it’s funny - the last year or two I’ve tended to travel to winter locations to shoot snow and ice. I think it might be time for a few more beaches and palm trees in the future ... Instagram: www.instagram.com/mitchraephotography

24.01.2022 Fitzroy Island, Australia ______________________________________ I’m a sucker for palm tree shadows! It’s nice to feel motivated to do some post processing and take some new photos again. For awhile there I wasn’t feeling super creative... but I’m back - and I’ve got a few local trips I’m planning coming up! I hope you enjoy the tropical feed for the next week or so.

23.01.2022 Milford Sound, South Island, New Zealand ______________________________________ We really lucked out on this trip to Milford - had a chance to shoot some rolling fog at dawn coming through the fiord when it was completely still and the mountain peaks were showing!... 22.01.2022 Fitzroy Island, Australia ______________________________________ One of Olivia and my favourite places to stay is @FitzroyIsland Resort. Its become our go to getaway since we finished up university in Cairns - and it kind of feels like home. Its the place where the rainforest meets the beach, meets the reef! ______________________________________

22.01.2022 Townsville, Australia _______________________________________________ Hi Townsville! (my hometown) Its been a long time since i have shot a landscape photo locally and been really excited to get home and edit it. Last Monday - I was at the gym and when I came out, it was about 10 minutes from the sky lighting up and for once - I had my camera gear in the car!... I have a bucket list of shots I want to take - in different locations around Townsville in certain conditions - I was very happy to get to tick off this one of wispy high cloud over castle hill from Queens Gardens. 22.01.2022 Mt Cook, New Zealand ______________________________________ Beautiful clear skies and mountain peaks! After not being able to see My Cook at all the afternoon/night before due to cloud - it was unreal to wake up to this and shoot it at sunrise. It’s easy to see why photographers just come back over and over to this place. And who knows - 3 separate trips now I’ve failed to get on a heli around here - maybe I’ll have some success on the next trip! ... Instagram: www.instagram.com/mitchraephotography

22.01.2022 Milford Sound, South Island, New Zealand ______________________________________ Sometimes - I finish processing a shot and i just feel it... This is it. This is why I became a Landscape Photographer. To get shots like this. I want to feel that way about more of my shots. Hell - I want to feel that way about all of them. This is Mitre Peak at Milford Sound.... Canon 5dmk4 Canon16-35mm f4 lens Settings 6sec F/11 iso100 at 35mm. 21.01.2022 Tekapo, South Island, New Zealand ______________________________________ Before my first Astro shoot - I was doing my research on what settings I would need to capture the glorious Milky Way. I had occasionally talked to Dale from @dkphotography before this point - i sent him a message saying I was going out and if he had any tips. I got a barrage of messages as a response - from a tips for settings sheet, to recommending I go to a familiar place so I don’t fall off a cliff,... to checking up the day afterwards and seeing how I went. I know I’m not the only one out there with a story just like this about Dale. To say he is a major reason I’m the photographer I am today is an understatement. You still helped me with my astro later on with helpful advice - your processing is shit mate, get rid of those purples it’s not natural. Which delivered from anyone else would be insulting - but from Dale it was honesty i needed to make me better. It may be your funeral today - but I’ll never forget you or what you’ve taught me. This shots for you mate - I even took out the purples. #shootfordale

20.01.2022 Tasman Lake, New Zealand ______________________________________ I always find it weird when people say you have to love your job. Dont get me wrong - I certainly dont hate my job - but there is never a point in time when I wouldnt rather be sitting on the lakeside here at Tasman lake, or shooting an ice cave in Iceland... or sipping a cocktail on a beach in the Bahamas. If photography was my job and not just something Im incredibly passionate about - would I enjoy it ...as much? Instagram: www.instagram.com/mitchraephotography

20.01.2022 Lindis Pass, South Island, New Zealand ______________________________________ When we drove through Lindis Pass - there had been a fresh dusting of snow not too long before. I loved the way certain parts of the mountains stayed their barren brown, while others that were less sheltered were coated with white snow - and both were painted in the morning shadows. Certainly looks cool from the air!

19.01.2022 Wanaka, South Island, New Zealand ______________________________________ Gotta love that Wanaka tree! This trip was my first time taking single frame light trails. I pushed this one for a 33 minute exposure ... Instagram: www.instagram.com/mitchraephotography

17.01.2022 Fitzroy Island, Australia ______________________________________ The infamous Nudey Beach! Sometimes I have to force myself to get the regular camera out when Im at tropical/beach locations! - part of me just loves flying the drone too much and getting those blues and hard to reach places from the sky! - this was a drone pano from a spot I could never get a camera to on foot

17.01.2022 That Wanaka Tree, New Zealand ______________________________________ Today is my Birthday.... but more importantly its my Dog Baxters 3rd Birthday! and I felt that was a good reason to add some shots of him to the post! He is one hecking good-boy that is for sure! You know how to cut to the core of me, Baxter. Youre so wise. Youre like a miniature Buddha covered in Hair! #anchorman... 17.01.2022 Nandroya Falls, Australia ______________________________________ Photography is a skillset that is constantly evolving. Its amazing to see how I approach my compositions now compared to early in my photography journey. . Just under 2 years ago was my first visit to Nandroya Falls in Wooroonooran National Park! - I identified these rapids back then, and my composition and approach to taking a photo was entirely different to this time. I dont like my old shot at all anymore.... It makes me question how I ever shot it so strangely the first time and walked away happy with it. Who knows - maybe in another few years Ill go back and think the same thing again about this one Shot on the Canon 5d mkiv, 16-35 F/4 Really Right Stuff TVC-44, BH-55 Ballhead NiSi circular polarizing filter 23mm, ISO 200, F8 1/15s. 3 image focus stack Instagram: www.instagram.com/mitchraephotography

17.01.2022 Lake Pukaki, South Island, New Zealand ______________________________________ Normally you can see Mount Cook in the background of this shot - but strangely we had mixed light and showers coming through obstructing the view of it. It’s not the token shot of here - but what do you think? ... Instagram: www.instagram.com/mitchraephotography

16.01.2022 That Wanaka Tree, New Zealand ______________________________________ Ive been slowly working my way through editing my New Zealand photos - and Im finally coming to the end! 16.01.2022 Windin Falls, Australia ______________________________________ Started out the hike to Windin falls in the pitch black before dawn with my friend Shelby! Its been on my list of places to visit for awhile now. Sometimes the best part of being a photographer - is getting locations like this all to yourselves before most people even wake up!... 16.01.2022 Black Diamond Beach, Iceland _______________________________________________ This photo is a tribute and my favourite memory of shooting with Dale Sharpe. (Dkphotography)... A year ago I was in Iceland with @dreamphotographyworkshops when we lucked out and got this ridiculous fire sunrise on the black sand beach next to Jkulsrln Lagoon. The day before, we were in Ice caves, and my camera took a 24 hour nap and wouldnt turn on. While I was freaking about this, Dale said Id be shooting with him off his camera that morning and to forget about it. At the time I didnt realize how much Id look back on this morning, and this trip to Iceland, and really see it as the best Ive ever had. Find a really sexy piece of ice *points at mildy attractive piece of ice* Naw - Not hot enough until we found this large piece. This iceberg chunk weighed about 30-40kgs.... I know because of the amount of times we repositioned it. Ive been sitting on the raw images from this morning for a year - because I didnt think I could do them justice in my post processing originally. Then I didnt want to touch the folder and edit them because it made me too upset thinking about Dale. But hell no, thats not what I want my memories of you to be like. Once I had your new calendar of shots sitting above my desk I found all the inspiration I needed and jumped in - this was the result. I remember you used to ask who my favourite landscape photographer was - and I would reply that Karlie was, you just needed to get on her level and it could be you. RIP mate, thankyou for all you taught me and I hope theres endless buckets of KFC up there. 15.01.2022 Burano Island, Italy ______________________________________ 8 years today Olivia and me have been together. Happy real anniversary Liv (a wedding anniversary is a fake anniversary day after all ) . For those that dont know us in person - Olivia and I are both dentists. Part of the reason I stopped posting regularly in the past 9months is we found out Olivia got accepted to become a specialist at Melbourne Uni. Whilst this is great for us in the long run - it does mean 3 y...ears of doing a distance marriage. Which sucks. I stopped posting to spend more time with her while I had her in Townsville - and less on my phone. . Lately Ive got a lot to be grateful for, despite everything going on in the world. COVID meant work was heavily restricted and almost shutdown - but Olivia got to be back in Townsville doing her course work over Zoom at home. Ive been able to spend more time in the last 3 months with her than I probably will in the next 3 years. Last Wednesday she headed back to Melbourne, and once again Ive felt less motivated to post. I just miss her. . But this ones for Olivia, from her little family of Me and Baxter up in Townsville - who miss her more than anything. Thank-you so much for the sacrifice you are making for our future. See more

13.01.2022 Middle Island, Australia ______________________________________ Just a quick kayak or a scoot in a dingy is Middle Island across from Great Keppel Island! It’s definitely one of the most aesthetic islands I’ve seen - with white sand beaches and rings of reef surrounding it. It used to have an underwater observatory which you can see on the left side reef - but this has been out of use for a number of years. You can still camp or visit the island though! I’m sure there could be worse places to be stranded! (WILSON!!!!! -castaway reference for those playing at home)

10.01.2022 Wanaka, South Island, New Zealand ______________________________________ This was one of my favourite nights shooting I think I’ve had. I was at an iconic place, with great people, shooting photos in the middle of the night with clear skies perfect for Astro. 07.01.2022 Wallaman Falls shot 2/4 - Girringun National Park, QLD, Australia ______________________________________ Ive missed getting drenched on a waterfall chase! 06.01.2022 Wanaka, New Zealand ______________________________________ I’ve been MIA for awhile off socials - but I felt enough emotion about this to break my drought.... The news of the Wanaka Tree being vandalized hit me hard. I was sad. I was really angry. I love this tree. When I was first new to photography - it was one of the first iconic places I shot. 03.01.2022 Mt Sefton, New Zealand ______________________________________ This morning was so relaxing. Sitting by the river waiting for sunrise to capture that beautiful first light on the mountain peaks. Its mornings shooting like this I love, when Ive found the composition I want and I get to relax waiting for the light. 03.01.2022 Nandroya Falls, Australia ______________________________________ I went for a sneaky solo trip on Friday morning to Wooroonooran National Park! After a few weeks of rain - and a few days since it had last fallen I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to see some raging waterfalls hopefully without the mud on the hike. I loved this composition - and for anyone who followed my stories you could see it was a blinder straight off the back of the camera! This is the bottom ...set of Falls of Nandroya. 02.01.2022 The Great Barrier Reef, Australia ______________________________________ This isn’t my usual drone style of photo. I generally go to huge lengths to ensure I don’t have so much reflection off the water. Whether it be with my Nisi polarizing filter, the time of day I fly, or the direction i shoot relative to the sun. Most of the time I don’t even take a snap when I see it like this. But when I got home and looked through what I took - I loved this shot.

I know I will feel that excitement about shooting the wanaka tree again - Im just going to act like it had a bad haircut.

01.01.2022 Wallaman Falls - Girringun National Park, QLD, Australia ______________________________________ The hike to the base of Wallaman falls is a blast! (On the way down anyway) you go from Australian bush, to dense rainforest with a little peak at the monstrous falls through the trees, followed by a crazy boulder field leading to the falls. From the top, it looks like you could walk across these boulders no problem. But they are the size of cars and trucks when up close, and slip...pery as anything from the spray from the falls. I went with the vision of naturally framing the waterfall with some of these boulders. And knew it would be a mission to find what I wanted. I found this composition and was laughing like a lunatic (this is not a composite, just me wedged between rocks). By this point I was drenched through - and the constant mist from the falls seemed to fly through this little section of rocks worse than anywhere else. My process - Dry the lens, hold my cloth over it and press the 2 second delay shutter, quickly move my hand off the lens at the last moment so it would have a spray-less chance. Repeat. It took a lot of work. But in the end i was rewarded with my shot. Instagram: www.instagram.com/mitchraephotography

01.01.2022 Townsville, Australia _______________________________________________ I decided I wanted to take this shot a few months ago - as I walk past it just about every day with Baxter. (my dog) I felt like Ive waited an eternity for some high cloud over Magnetic Island to light up at sunset!... Instagram: www.instagram.com/mitchraephotography
