21.01.2022 Callington Flour Mill is the only authentic, working 19th century tower mill in the southern hemisphere. We were lucky enough to see the mill from the highway and do a quick detour and check it out. Was definitely worth the stop not realising its history, and the fact it was originally built in 1836 making it nearly two hundred years old. 20.01.2022 'Always chasing that light at the end of the tunnel' The 'Spray Tunnel' is a left over tunnel from the old Silver Spray Mine. A small locomotive called 'Spray' was used on the Tram way until the mine closed in 1913. The odd key shape of the tunnel, with the top enlarged, was to allow for the Boilers to be brought through to the mine. 20.01.2022 Getting up and close to these Australian fur seals as they make a break for the water. Wasn't the best weather on our Pennicott Wilderness trip down and around Tasman island with patchy showers. But it was still worth it, getting to see Tasmania's impressive coast line from a different perspective. Tasmania Tasmania Discover Tasmania Pennicott Wilderness Journeys Hobart & Beyond
18.01.2022 Ramsay's Crossing, Curtis Island The remains of what used to be Ramsay's Crossing. This is where the cattle from Monte Christo Station were herded down this passage way, across this section of water at low tide, and onto the mainland to be loaded into trucks. 17.01.2022 Great Lake (Tasmania) Sitting at 1,034 meters above sea level and covering over 17,610 hectares when full. It was one of Australia's largest natural freshwater lake systems prior to its damming in 1916. After not knowing much about the Great Lake other then it was on our map and in the right direction of travel, it was an awesome sight to come across sitting so high up in the Mountain Ranges. ... 03.01.2022 Looking back at Cape Pillar (Tasman National Park) from the only accessible point on Tasman Island, which is also home to the most isolated lighthouse in Australia. This flying fox setup and winch driven tram system in the background was the the only to get there supplies, building materials and people up the vertical cliffs onto the island. 02.01.2022 Called into the first ever Rythm-X in Australia on our Tassy travels. Was an awsome mix with the 450 and 250 Supercross shootout and then finished of with the 1st every rhythm section in Aus. Looking forward to 2017 to see it bigger and better!
