25.01.2022 ...Behind the scenes in the Mitre Maker shed....camera mount duct taped to an esky duct taped to a router table...classy

25.01.2022 This week we've released some new frame clamps for gluing up your Mitre Maker frames. Check out the video and let us know what you think!

23.01.2022 Jig production is in full swing as we are only a few weeks out from our first show at Tilba on the June long weekend.

22.01.2022 This weekend I thought I would have a go at drawing up a Mitre Maker CNC router. The initial design includes 16mm high precision ball screws and 20mm HIWIN rails mounted on 40x80 heavy duty aluminium t-slot frame driven by 387 oz-in steppers. Gantry and ball screw supports are compact laminate (of course).

21.01.2022 A new video showing our Mitre Sled in action is now up on our website and on our YouTube channel. http://www.mitremaker.com.au/how-to/#how11 http://youtu.be/H3r8P9hf94M

21.01.2022 First production run of our Mitre Maker box maker attachment this week including a new sliding stops and clamp. It sits on top of the Mitre Maker, is easily attached using 4 barrel nuts and holds boards at 45 degrees to the router table surface. This attachment allows you to cut mitres on boards using your router table and our flush trim router bit

21.01.2022 First show and demonstrations for Mitre Maker at the Tilba wood show this long weekend....nice beaches down here too!

21.01.2022 This is my first go at doing compound mitres on the router table using our Mitre Sled. Took me a couple of cuts to work out how to manage the tear-out in the corners, but it was easily solved by bringing the clamped wedge right down to the cut face. Might just glue a base on this frame and fill it with peanuts.

19.01.2022 The third edition of the Mitre Maker Owner's Manual is now available for download on our website. The new manual includes step by step instructions and photographs on how to setup and calibrate the new Box Maker attachment. http://www.mitremaker.com.au/features/user-manual/

19.01.2022 Don't have a table saw? Well now you can use your table-mounted router for reinforcing your mitred joints or adding decorative features with our new Spline Jig.

17.01.2022 Unless you have a big workshop with lots of machinery, it can be difficult to prepare your timber to the right dimensions, and to get those edges nice and straight. This is one simple solution using your router table.

15.01.2022 Have you ever seen a 3D printer in action? This new post describes the prototyping process that resulted in a 3D-printed component for the Mitre Maker.

15.01.2022 Wondering what you can make with your Mitre Maker other than picture frames? Here is one idea...

13.01.2022 Here are just a few cutter options to use with the Mitre Sled http://www.mitremaker.com.au/cutter-options-mitre-sled/

13.01.2022 Now my Mitre Sled is set up a bit better... time to test it out with my new 15 degree flush trim cutter to get a 6 sided box frame

13.01.2022 More Mitre Sled stuff this week with a new blog post on jig setup that includes a couple of how-to videos http://www.mitremaker.com.au/mitre-sled-setup/

11.01.2022 Our new kitchen bench top is nearing completion. Birdseye Blackbutt. Many thanks to Roger for the wood, for getting these boards through a spiral head thicknesser and helping me pass these rather heavy slabs over the jointer. The smaller 'practice' bench is ready to screw down...now to do the other side at almost twice the length! Also thanks to Dave for a loan of some extra pipe clamps and tips on glues and finishing.

10.01.2022 An update on the Prusa i3 Mini 3d printer we built and posted about back in November last year....finally set up the electronics and hot end. It works!

10.01.2022 A fun day out today doing some demonstrations and talking shop with the Goulburn Woodies. Thanks for having me!

09.01.2022 The new Mitre Sled from Mitre Maker. It does the same job as the box maker attachment for the Mitre Maker, but on a separate base with more features like hidden spline cutting and simpler calibration.....and no retro orange for this jig

09.01.2022 We had a crack at a CNC machined compact laminate router table insert for Triton router over the holidays and saw it in action on the weekend....might be a new addition to my workbench soon too!

09.01.2022 All my birthdays came at once on the weekend with a once in a lifetime 'pick' through the Gifkins wood stash...to help make more room in the shed of course.

09.01.2022 2015 Spline Jig. Now comes in red with a clamp and spare fences. http://www.mitremaker.com.au/shop/mitre-maker-spline-jig/

09.01.2022 The compact laminate we use for the Mitre Maker also makes a very solid little 3d printer frame

07.01.2022 We have a new post on our web site today about a simple technique to dress down your timber boards to get the width you want, a very clean finish and parallel sides for use on the Mitre Sled http://www.mitremaker.com.au/getting-parallel-sided-boads-/

07.01.2022 Been indulging my kayak building obsession of late (thanks Kaz!. Now sand and varnish, sand and varnish - repeat until you can't stand it any longer!). S&G Petrel....I want one now too.

05.01.2022 A little Mitre Sled project from last weekend to upgrade the Ultimaker so that the extra heatbed power supply could be housed neatly under the printer. The corner splines were cut deep enough so that they created little supports inside the box for the Ultimaker feet to sit on

04.01.2022 The first edition of the Mitre Sled Owner's Manual is now available for download on our web site. The manual details the main jig components and how to set up and calibrate the jig. http://www.mitremaker.com.au/features/user-manual/

03.01.2022 First cut at a simple Mitre Sled project box. This box can be made in an afternoon and uses just a couple of different cutters, the drop saw for docking timber and the router table.

02.01.2022 Trying out my new Mitre Sled calibration square this morning. It makes the sled setup much easier and quicker. Had to recalibrate the CNC to make this square properly.

02.01.2022 Welcome all! Thanks for visiting our page. We've recently launched the Mitre Maker - a new Australian woodworking tool for cutting beautiful mitre joints using a table-mounted router. Our website has heaps of info, but if you have any questions, just ask!

02.01.2022 This dust extractor idea will help keep your workshop tidy and shield your cutter at the same time. Clamp it straight into your router table and hook it up to your dust extraction system.

01.01.2022 Spent a few fun hours in the shed this afternoon making a start on a couple of little boxes
