05.01.2022 In MEP's Board Meeting last week, I tabled a recommendation that MEP wind up it's Chief Executive Officer role, to take account of our new tempo. The Board resolved to follow this recommendation, effective from 1 July 2020, from which time the Board will be assisted by a casual as-needed Secretariat. MEP will continue in it's current corporate structure (a company incorporated under the Corporations Act and registered as a charity under the Australian Charities and Not-for-pr...ofits Commission). MEP will continue to welcome applications for funding for projects that support disadvantaged people in the East Arnhem Land region to achieve economic independence (see our website - www.miwatjemployment.com.au - for details on our MEP Grant Program). I'd like to thank the Board for their wisdom, support and loyalty over the years. It has been an honour to work alongside you. Marrkapmirr mirrithirri marngikunhrawa ngarraku. Cheers, Jeremy (signing off as) Chief Executive Officer

05.01.2022 Our hearts go out to family and friends in Gapuwiyak. Such a warm and wise woman. Such a strong advocate for young people and education.... Rest in peace, Midiku. You will be missed.

05.01.2022 It is indeed a bittersweet day today Today is MEP's final day of Community Development Program (CDP) service delivery - next Monday 1st July 2019 the program transitions to its new Provider. Six years ago, Laynhapuy Homelands Aboriginal Corporation and Marngarr Resource Centre Aboriginal Corporation came together to create Miwatj Employment and Participation (MEP). It was a commitment to ensuring decisions in this welfare-to-work program were made here in the Miwatj region. W...e are happy to say that they have been. To our stakeholders - thank you for your support, collaboration and teamwork. None of us can do what we do alone - thank you! We hope to continue these connections, albeit wearing a different "hat". To our employers - thank you for giving our families a chance to be a part of your journey. Your patience and commitment has meant everything to ourselves and our participants. You know as well as we do that economic independence is an enabler to stand on one's own feet. Thank you! :) To our CDP participants and families - thank you for generously letting us into your lives, homes, culture and country, and for allowing us to accompany you on your journey. Your resilience, humour and positive energy has sustained us through every challenge - you are the reason we do what we do. Good luck! :) To all MEP staff - I commend all of you. You have produced great results in a challenging industry - well done. I would like to echo (and add to) Chairman's words from this morning: thank you, all of you, for your commitment to helping Yolngu with determination and energy, and for enduring the challenges with professionalism and grace. Take these memories with you - the work you have done has made a difference, and you will remember these as some of your most fulfilling work years. From the bottom of my heart, Cheers, Jeremy
