25.01.2022 In preparation for commemorating ANZAC Day tomorrow our children have discussed the importance of our ancestors who served. As a display of gratitude and remembrance they have created a combined wreath and sign for display using egg cartons kindly donated by Duo Bakery & Cafe. Lest We Forget

23.01.2022 With Term 4 drawing to a close, we would like to thank all parents and friends who helped make the children’s learning environment so rich and therefore so successful. We recently celebrated the events of 2018 at our Christmas party with food, songs, and Santa. We hope your holiday season is filled with peace, love, and happiness.

23.01.2022 How does your mail get to you? Well, Postie Ben delivers it of course! A big thank you to Shauna, Postie Ben and Post-Box Pete for coming to visit us this morning. The children learnt all about what is needed to post a letter, they beeped the horn on the Postie Bike and were even able to wear Postie Ben’s helmet. A wonderful extension to their interest in modes of transport and letter writing. We appreciate your time today the children really enjoyed having you all.

20.01.2022 Book Week 2020 - a wonderful chance for us to enjoy the magic of many good books combined with the fun of dressing up.

16.01.2022 What’s on the menu todayfor morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea? I like her cheese sandwiches says Ben. I like her sausages exclaims Charlie. Well, I hope it is fried rice says Ella. Imagine catering for 34 little friends, with a variety of dietary requirements, five days a week, for three meal periods! The age range: from six weeks old to five years old. Multiply this requirement by 15 years and this service is what Janice, our Chef at Miyamiya Children’s House, has provided. Congratulations Janice, what an amazing milestone! We thank you for your service, professionalism and quiet, loving manner. We look forward to many more delicious meals from your kitchen.

16.01.2022 A lovely week at Miyamiya with a focus on further building a sense of community. For our first Community Day of the year the children of each room exchanged thoughtful gifts. A way to foster a connection between the rooms through the graceful and courteous act of giving. In addition, the ladies of Miyamiya had the pleasure of joining the broader Toowoomba community at the Peak2Park event this morning. Fabulous to spot some of our Miyamiya families on the course. A great way to start the day!

14.01.2022 This afternoon our rooms combined for afternoon tea to celebrate National Teddy Bears Picnic Day. The children enjoyed sharing afternoon tea with their friends and Teddies.

13.01.2022 The children of Miyamiya Children’s House have been learning about various cultures with the help of two visitors to our classroom. Sam Derchie used story-telling, various drums and percussion instruments to introduce the children to African culture. He described the story of Ananse a mythical spider. Gwenda Stanley used dance, story, artefacts and language to share her unique and rich Aboriginal culture. What wonderful experiences for the children.

13.01.2022 To help celebrate Grandparent's Day this year we wish to share our rendition of "My hand in your hand" by Kate Oliver. Due to the current COVID-19 climate, many children are unable to hold their grandparent's hands. To us, this song is a symbol of unity and strength. We wish to honor our grandparents and the role they play in guiding our children - our future. Enjoy.

11.01.2022 Today, as part of National Tree Day, the children enjoyed a reading of 'Tap the Magic Tree' by Christie Matheson. We spoke about the importance of trees for our environment and how some change during seasons. The children spent the morning outdoors planting trees in our Bush Tucker Garden (a Bay tree being the feature). The children displayed care for their environment by watering all the plants in the garden.

09.01.2022 Some of our beautiful Kindergarten friends felt like singing one of our favourite songs today - 'We Can Make a Difference'. We decided to share their performance with you, our community, to brighten your day. Indeed, we can all make a difference in the current climate. Stay safe everyone!

08.01.2022 Over the past week we celebrated Book Week highlighting the importance of literacy for children. The week was filled with the fun of dressing up as book characters and bringing a book to share. As an additional treat the Kindergarten children visited Year 5 Currawong, Mater Dei Primary School, with our new friends reading to us! What a Fabulous experience and what wonderful role models.

07.01.2022 What a busy month we have had at Miyamiya Children’s House! On top of all our everyday learning we participated in some special events. Worthy of note are: a Garbage Truck visit (thank you JJ Richards); lessons on Mindfulness and Relaxation (thank you Amy from Posana Yoga and Healing); a visit from some little friends from Off the Chain K9 Rescue (thank you Jess, puppies and kittens); our Intergenerational visit with our friends at Tricare; celebrating QLD day by making a lamington cake, lovely rain to jump in and warm toast to enjoy early in the morning!

03.01.2022 Last Friday afternoon we hosted our children and their families at the Miyamiya Christmas Party. What a wonderful community event celebrating the children’s achievements from 2019. The afternoon consisted of sharing plates of food, fabulous company, a little Christmas concert by our Kindergarten children and of course Santa visited to spread some cheer.... However, the highlight of the evening was something a little different! In order to help one of our previous students (who has been bravely facing some medical challenges) we held a special fundraiser. A huge raffle event and hair cutting of teachers was conducted! The goods in the raffles were generously donated by various members and the broader Toowoomba community. We would like to especially thank the following local businesses: Millers Gourmet Meats, Annielyn Images, Cloud Nine, Gelatissimo, Spar Mackenzie Row, Duo Bakery & Cafe, Crackerjack Chicken, Raw Energy Toowoomba, Wendland Fine Foods, Mackenzie Row Cellars, Sofra Turkish Cuisine, Penny Mckinlay, LIVE PURE & SIMPLE. Coco & Blush, Snap Print & Design, John Davies & Co Lawyers, Love Dotty, Lamble Building, MVP Design, Wise Eye Optometrist, The Hectic Eclectic Shop, Texi's Toys & Creations, Le Comptoir Francais. A grand total of $3786.00 was raised. A very Merry Christmas to all.

01.01.2022 This week we opened our doors to the children’s beloved Grandparent’s. We welcomed Nana’s, Grandpa’s, Poppy’s, Anmar’s, Omar’s, Opa’s and even a Mimi! A beautiful morning of sharing activities, morning tea and a number of songs. We are so lucky to have such a supportive community!
