19.01.2022 It’s on the behalf of the MJA Fishing Tournament organising committee that we regretfully inform you due to unforeseen circumstances our event in 2019 will no longer be going ahead. It’s not yet known if the tournament will commence beyond next year, however we sure hope that it will make a return in the future. We would like to thank everyone that supported our competition and made it such a successful event. Each time around the number of entrants exceeded our expectations.... We would also like to thank our awesome sponsors that have put together some amazing prizes over the past few years. Without these contributions this comp would of never got off the ground. To our organising committee past and present, without your efforts none of this would have been possible. Not too many people would be aware of what goes on behind the scenes and the amount of volunteered time that is put in by you legends. John Costello you have been the face of our tournament from the very beginning and I’m certain that most people entered just, so they could take away a page or two of knowledge from the ‘Jack Whisperer’ himself. Thanks for being so enthusiastic and eager to help every single time. Hopefully one day when the stars align we can kick this thing off again but until then we would like to wish you all tight lines and be safe out on the water. Kind Regards, MJA Fishing Tournament

18.01.2022 Just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to all the entrants who competed in the tournament over the weekend, from all the stories we heard it was a very tough slog t...rying to find, hook and land these jacks that send us all bonkers at times. A big THANK YOU to all the Sponsors who throw in an unbelievable amount of prizes (the 1000s and 1000s of dollars worth that seem to keep growing every comp) and throw their support behind the tournament time and time again. A big Shout out and THANK YOU to John Costello who puts in so much time and effort to the jack fishing community as a whole with all the promotion of catch n release fishing, getting the community involved including the new younger generations just getting into fishing through their friends and family. All your time and energy you put in to your DVDs and lure reviews, from all of us in the jack fishing community we say a massive thank you. A massive THANK YOU to all the blokes on the MJA Fishing Tournament committee, without you guys we wouldnt be where we are with each comp. You all put in so much time and energy behind the scenes (all year round, everyday and lots of sleepless nights) to keep this great comp rolling and are all the backbone to this comp. You all deserved a coldie or two yesterday. I tip my hat to you all and to be honest, myself after not long waking up the morning after with a bit of a hangover and a ridiculously sore back from all the time spent in the kayak fishing over the weekend, I am ready to get stuck straight back in to organising the next comp.

05.01.2022 *** MJA FISHING TOURNAMENT #7 *** Special announcement. First of all on behalf of the MJA fishing tournament committee we would like to thank all of you for the support you have given this tournament since its infancy. ... Without all of you we wouldnt have such a successful tournament with fantastic sponsors and prizes. As you all know we have constantly been tweaking the blueprint of our tournament in the attempt to create an event that appeals to all. Unfortunately though its a reality that we cant keep everyone happy and every time we make a change it will come with support and backlash. This time around we have had to make the hard decision to no longer include the bait category and will now be trialing a lure only event, and increasing the time on the water to allow anglers two fulls days of fishing. The decision to exclude the bait category hasnt been an easy one and has come with much deliberation. In making this decision we called upon some big names in the fishing scene to ask for their two cents, all of which where big advocates of the lure only platform. We understand as a result we are bound to loose numbers however we endeavor to still host the best MJA fishing tournament to date with more prizes then ever before. We have realized that what we care about most is the future preservation of this iconic fish so that the next generation can endure the same loss of sleep, pain, excitement, anger and joy that these beautifully frustrating fish bring. We have plans in the future to look toward starting up and funding some sort of a restocking program similar to those currently in operation in NSW. If you have any leads or contacts that may be able to point us in the right direction this would be greatly appreciated. Further more we have also decided to put all of our eggs in one basket and run a single event annually, this way we have more time to organize everything and can focus on ensuring each tournament exceeds expectations. We will be spending 2018 planning tournament #7 which is set to be held late February 2019. We appreciate your patience in waiting for the next instalment which we will strive to make this the biggest and best MJA Fishing Tournament to date. If you have any questions please dont hesitate to contact the committee via our Facebook page. Again we want to thank everyone for your support over the past 6 comps and all future events to come. Sincerely, MJA Fishing Tournament Committee
