25.01.2022 Another underbody rustproofing treatment carried out today. An absolute must if you drive you car out to work at SIGM

24.01.2022 TECH TIP: Many people confuse wheel ALIGNMENT with wheel BALANCING with regards to their vehicles. IF you are getting a vibration or shaking through the steering wheel ( usually at between 70-90km/hr ) there is a good chance your tyre / wheel assemblies require a WHEEL BALANCE. To correct a balance issue we would remove all of the wheels from the vehicle, clean out any mud build up in the rim and balance the assemblies on a precision wheel balancing machine. Be aware that le...aving unbalanced wheel tyre assemblies on the vehicle not only affects the tyres but also every component relating to the suspension and steering causing undue stress and accelerated wear and tear on components such as steering rack assemblies, steering columns, shock absorbers , ball joints, suspension bushings etc. It is always best to resolve a wheel balance issue early rather than risk extra damage and expense. IF on the other hand your vehicle is wandering on the road, pulls to one side or the other or you may have noticed the tyres wearing excessively then you may require a WHEEL ALIGNMENT. Wheel alignment can be affected by a number of things including component wear or damage. Impact damage. Faulty steering components. Worn or faulty wheel bearings. Regular servicing of your vehicle as per the manufacturer recommendation (found in your owners manual / service book) minimises the above. Wishing you all a very safe and pleasant Christmas after a somewhat difficult year for many. See more

24.01.2022 Some quality TOYO tyres arrived ready to be fitted and balanced for our loyal customers

24.01.2022 Nice 2017 RG Z71 Colorado in today for a factory logbook service and tyre rotate + re balance. Many people to not realise that your vehicle's Tyre Pessure Monitoring System does not actually track when you change wheel positions eg front to rear / left to right. We can do a recalibration on all TPMS equipped vehicles to ensure what you see on the dash is relating correctly to the wheel position of each sensor. We can also replace and re code sensors when they fail (usually after 5 years) Another happy customer.

22.01.2022 Stay safe everyone. Dont be the star of one of these dash cam movies!!

22.01.2022 So true ..... and so common!?

21.01.2022 Another CRD intake de carbon @ 140,000km. 3.0 BT50. Owner identified a slightly harsh idle, poor power and high fuel consumption. As shown, excessive EGR soot build up in intake ports and dual runner butterfly. This build up restricts air flow and engine efficiency. When the butterflys can no longer move freely due to carbon / soot the engine will de rate / go into limp mode.

21.01.2022 This post offers a little information into our world here at MJH Mechanical and why particularly for new customers, we ask so many questions when you ring or visit us: We often get asked about " A service " or "What does a service cost? " with no other details!? We then need to establish : WHO YOU ARE? ( customer contact details are vital!), HAVE YOU BEEN HERE BEFORE? ( we may have relevant info from previous services), WHAT VEHICLE/ YEAR /MODEL/ ENGINE/ TRANSMISSION (assum...Continue reading

20.01.2022 Shared from Roo Systems regarding diesel tuning myths. I personally have a lot of respect for Glen Hadden and his R&D team. Worth a read. Busted: Myth #5 You need a dyno A shops opinion on whether or not tuning on a dyno is necessary normally revolves around if they have a dyno. We have two, but theyre not always needed. With modern diesel vehicles, the ECU controls every little detail of how the engine runs, to the point you can almost tune for a specific torque figure ...without ever seeing the vehicle the tune is going on. If the vehicle is a reasonably late model, has been looked after and doesnt have weird and wonderful power upgrades done to it the dyno is more verification of the adjustments, rather than a key step. Its a tool we use constantly in the development of our tunes, but once were making predictable results its not required and can often be substituted with some on-road testing.......... See more

17.01.2022 This poor bloke and his family are having a very rough 2018 mechanically. After several previous driveline issues. This time the rear diff crownwheel decided to sheer 3 bolt heads which then proceded to lunch the rest of the diff centre. Rebuild and upgrade time!

15.01.2022 A little warm at work today!

13.01.2022 These tiny little washers on modern diesel injectors cause a huge amount of grief when they leak!

12.01.2022 WARNING : Please be wary of deep water crossings at this time of year. After rains there may be water across the road without warning ie Kalgoorlie / Kambalda & Coolgardie roads. Water across the road can be deceptively deep and hide unknown hazards! Currents can wash the vehicle off the road and be potentially life threatening! We have a vehicle with a destroyed engine due to a deep water crossing during the last storm! For most cars if the water is deeper than half way up your wheels it too deep for you to cross. Merry Christmas and stay safe everyone.
