09.01.2022 Talking Timbers with MJN Carpentry ## Spotted Gum ## Spotted gum timber is a Queensland native hardwood, naturally resistant to termites and renowned for its beautiful array of colours and patterns. It has a Class 1 durability rating and is a well known bush fire resistant timber. ... Spotted gum is used in engineering applications such as wharf and bridge construction, railway sleepers, cross-arms and mining timbers. It is suitable for a range of building applications, such as posts and poles, framing, flooring, lining, decking and cladding. It is by far our favourite timber to work with and comes up looking stunning when used in decks, floorboards, screening and furniture. MJN Carpentry uses sustainable timber suppliers for spotted gum and recommends coating timber with Sikkens to enhance the natural colour and beauty of the timber.
