25.01.2022 Breast screening (a screening mammogram) saves lives by finding breast cancers early. 1 in 7 women in NSW will develop breast cancer. If breast cancer is detected when the cancer is still small and hasn't spread, the chances of successful treatment are much higher. That's why screening mammograms are so important. The mammogram involves taking special x-rays of the breasts, and these x-rays can detect a cancer even as small as a grain of rice, before you, or your doctor can detect any changes in your breasts. Women aged between 50 and 74 are encouraged to have a mammogram every two years to screen for breast cancer, and this is free for all eligible women in this age group (and over depending on your circumstances). #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth #breastcancerawareness #breastcancer

19.01.2022 October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women in Australia, with 55 Australians being diagnosed with breast cancer every day, and 8 people losing their lives to the disease every day. A breast screen (or mammogram) can find cancer early, when it’s small and easier to treat. A breast screen won’t stop you from getting breast cancer, but it can give you a better chance of successful treatment. #pinktober #breastcancerawareness #breastcancer #breastcancerawarenessmonth

17.01.2022 Seasonal flu vaccination is the best way to protect you and your baby. Its safe for you to have a flu shot at any time during your pregnancy. After the vaccination your body makes antibodies that help protect you and your baby from the flu. Your baby will continue to be protected for up to six months after birth. Thats important because babies under six months... cannot be given the flu vaccination; protection can only be achieved by vaccinating a mother during pregnancy. See more

The benefits of feeding your baby breastmilk outweigh any potential risk of transmission of coronavirus through breastmilk. To avoid spreading the virus, wear a face mask when you are less than 1.5 metres from your baby (including while feeding), wash your hands before and after contact with your baby (including feeding), and avoid coughing or sneezing on the baby while feeding.

04.01.2022 Figures from the registry show that childhood cancer death rates in Australia have decreased by nearly 40 per cent over the past 15 years. However, cancer remains the most common cause of disease-related death for children aged 1-14 in Australia, and data from the University of NSW has shown that 81 percent of childhood cancer survivors develop at least one life-changing mental or physical health issue after cancer treatment they received as a child. This highlights the need for further research and support services for families affected. You can support this cause by donating towards further research into treatments for childhood cancers #childhoodcancerawarenessmonth #ccam2020 #gogold #Childhoodcancer #ccasocks #sockitotkidscancer
