23.01.2022 A quick message from our Under 10s coach Steve Schmidt ahead of tomorrow’s Grand Final I would like to express how incredibly proud I am of my under 10’s team for making their first Grand Final. They have finished the season as undefeated minor premieres in their first year of competition. Amazing effort. They have all pulled together to develop as a team and to play as a team. ... Thank you to the under 9’s that have played up with the team this year. Saying that, anyone that has watched us wouldn’t know that they are younger. Without your dedication to your team and the 10’s, the 10’s would not have been able to take the field this year. Thanks to my 2 league safes, Kyle and Josh. Their knowledge and love of the game and my team, is inspirational to the younger generation of players. And of course thank you to my wife Kayla. Without her help the team and I would not have been as organised. To my under 10’s team. 1 more game to go! let’s make it the best game of the year. Enjoy the experience and play your hearts out. 22.01.2022 A massive congratulations to this year’s winner of the Phil Stafford Memorial Trophy. This is the club’s most prestigious award for a player to receive. Harri Phillips is a well deserving recipient who never lets his club down. In 2020, Harri was one of our Club’s ambassadors as part of our Pathways program. He was also Captain of the 16A’s team. He was at the oval training not only with his team but also with the U18’s, where he backed up every week. He committed himself to 6 days a week of footy, all while juggling full time work as an apprentice. He is a wonderful young adult and we wish him all the best for his future, going into the senior system. Well done Harri and thank you for all your hard work over the last 12-13 years.

19.01.2022 Grand Final Games this Weekend Attention all Parents Families and Spectators Due to Covid-19, admittance to Grand Finals this weekend is limited to "1 parent - per player in a Grand Final team".... Only spectators who have a Group 6 ticket for entry to the Grand Finals will be given access to Kirkham Oval and all others will be denied entry to the venue. This is a NSWRL directive to align with their safety plan according to NSW GOVERNMENT HEALTH. All games will be live streamed to give families & friends a chance to watch each GF. The reason W...ests Tigers are looking to do this is: Early identification of our local talent. Bring both districts together earlier creating cohesion before their junior rep programs commence. e.g. Development squads, Andrew Johns Cup and Harold Matthews cup. To have our junior league coaches in those respective age groups be part of the day to strengthen their skills and help progress our players at the club level. 14.01.2022 Congratulations on our 10Bs for finishing the season as Minor Premiers and will head straight into the Grand Final this weekend. Also Massive Congratulations to our 16GLT team who has finished the season in 2nd spot and have qualified for their second GF appearance in a row. Both teams will play this weekend down at Kirkham Park in Camden.... Friday Night 16GLT will play Thirlmere at 6.45pm Sunday 10Bs will play Camden Red at 8.30am. All Grand Final games will be live-streamed on YouTube for all supporters to watch. Restrictions will be in place on how many patrons are allowed to attend the game so the best way to watch both teams will be live streaming the game. 07.01.2022 Message from premiership coach Kayla Schmidt after last nights heart stopping victory BACK TO BACK PREMIERS. To describe my feelings in one word today after winning the Grand Final would be PROUD. ... I am proud of each and every single one of the girls. Each one of you played your absolute hearts out. You all held your heads high, stuck together as a team and played the game with honour and determination. You never gave up. You girls brought it home and played a fantastic game of footy. I am proud of the way the older girls lead throughout the year and in the GF. The way used their experience to bring up and include the younger girls was beautiful. Younger girls, It will be your turn to lead next year and you have learnt from the best. We will miss all the girls that will be moving on, some of which have been here since the beginning of the girls comp. I am proud to have had Jenni, Chris and Katie as a part of the team. Thank you all for all you have done this year. We appreciate you all and we will miss you next year Jenni and Chris as this is your last year as your daughter moves on. I am proud to be a part of this mighty amazing club. Even though this has been an odd year and it’s not the atmosphere that would normally be expected from a GF, the messages and support from far and wide as they watched from a distance was incredible. We felt all the support out there and we thank you all Last, but definitely not least. I am PROUD to have won again this year alongside the absolute legend and super coach, Corey Shepherd. This man lead the team this year, it was all him. His wealth of knowledge is indescribable and he converts this knowledge effortlessly from the boys game into the girls game. To say we were both nervous last night would be an understatement, he may have looked cool and calm but there is no grass left where he was sitting! You are one of the best Corey and I have learnt so much from you. Thank you for all you have done for the team and the club. Your a life member for a reason and you deserve all the praise in the world. I am so PROUD. Kayla

07.01.2022 A message from Shannon Gallant, Coaching and Development Coordinator of the Wests Tigers This year we are looking at introducing a Wests Tigers Junior Talent ID Day for ages 13’s, 14’s and 15’s for both Group 6 and Macarthur Wests Tigers players. On Sunday the 14th March ... In order for players to be eligible to be selected to attend the event they will need to fill out the form attached to the link below: https://forms.gle/mBFF87wCmY6Twy4B7 We are using this day to identify our junior talent early by taking them through a series of skill based and defensive technique drills while also getting them to take part in some speed focused testing. As you know we bring both the group 6 and MWT players together at the Andrew Johns cup and Harold Matthews level for the first time. The Talent ID day allows us to bring these players together at an earlier age which will in turn give Wests Tigers a better chance of building cohesion between players and coaching staff before the Andrew Johns cup Harold Matthews level.

05.01.2022 Well the time has come!! 6.45pm tonight!! Time for these Girls to make history, going for back to back premierships, what a incredible journey it has been, from going winless in their first season in the Under 14GLT to on the verge on becoming back to back premiers with 2 premierships these amazing girls could not have gone as far as they have without the support mentoring and dedication from their Coach Kayla Schmidt. Kayla not only has been the Girls Coach for over the last... few seasons but is also our Clubs Head First Aid Officer and has her own 3 boys playing in age groups all across the club who play for the mighty Lions week in week out. The Schmidt family will be flying the flag high as well for the mighty lions over this weekend with husband Steve and Junior Vice President of the club also making his Grand Final Debut as Coach for the mighty Under 10Bs team, These boys finished the season as Undefeated Minor Premiers and will be looking to go one better come Sunday by putting the nail in the coffin and finishing the season as Undefeated Premiers, a massive effort considering the amount of teams in this competition and it just goes to show the determination, commitment and dedication from the Schmidt family that you can achieve anything by doing multi roles in our fantastic club with the love and support of fellow families and friends in the Lions Den, a true team effort!!
