16.01.2022 MLOC Productions is proud to support Life Member and Author Cheryl Threadgold with the announcement of the virtual launch of her book 'In the Name of Theatre: the History, Culture and Voices of Amateur Theatre in Victoria' on Saturday, 5 September at 2pm on Zoom Webinar. Theatre historian Frank Van Straten AM is kindly launching the book, and guest speakers include Professor Josie Arnold from Swinburne University of Technology, President of The Victorian Drama League Bruce Co...chrane, President of the Music Theatre Guild of Victoria, Ang Cuy and President of Theatre Heritage Australia, Simon Piening. Master of Ceremonies is Steven Haby from Prahran Mechanics’ Institute Library, the originally planned ‘real life’ venue for the launch. Cheryl has self published her book which is 354 pages in content,A4 size and will have a retail price of $45. As well as ensuring the story of amateur theatre in Victoria is told, the book will hopefully serve as a reminder to all theatre-makers of their wonderful achievements in the past, and inspire renewal in the future. The wonderful cover has been designed by Luke Harris of Working Type Studio in Eltham. All profits go to The Victorian Drama League and Music Theatre Guild of Victoria.
