24.01.2022 Happy International School Cleaners Day! We sincerely thank our incredible team of cleaners, lead by Smita (our cleaner in charge), Tadelesh, Judy and Varsha. Their work over these past months in particular, in keeping the school super clean has been greatly appreciated!

23.01.2022 Todays shout out is to all the siblings in our school - especially those older brothers and sisters who have been so amazing at walking their little brothers and sisters across the oval or to the door of their classroom. Weve heard lots of I love you!, have a great day!, youll be awesome as well as a couple of stern be good and do what your teacher tells you! There has been lots of hugs and kisses and waving madly to each other. COVID-19 has been responsible for lots of challenging times but it has also allowed us to see our kids shining at their best. Morning and afternoons are our favourite times of day just to bear witness to these very special interactions. Siblings - YOU ARE AWESOME!

23.01.2022 It was such a busy day to end the term that we didnt get a chance to post! What a lovely way to end the semester yesterday - free dress day and a Teddy Bears Picnic. The weather was perfect and lots of happy students and teachers everywhere! Happy holidays to all!

22.01.2022 Year 2s are tasting the rainbow today! Everyone has brought in an incredible range of fruit and vegetables and the students are having a marvellous time tasting each little bite! One of our Year 2s even lost her tooth biting into a bit of juicy apple. Mums and dads might just have to add a few new things to the shopping list this week. Yum!

21.01.2022 Perfect weather for Jumps and Throws today. Huge congrats to all our competitors who did an awesome job. Even better to witness great sportsmanship throughout the year groups. Looking forward to our faction carnival next week - lets hope the weather is just as beautiful.

20.01.2022 We had a great time this afternoon celebrating Italian Week by dressing up and dancing the Tarantella. A big thank you to Signora Ashkenazy and Miriam for organising this and all the other fabulous Italian activities.

20.01.2022 Super proud of these fabulous lads who competed in a triathlon on Friday and won their division. Each student did an incredible job in their swim, ride and run. Thank you to their lovely parents for registering them in this event and providing such a terrific experience. What a team!

19.01.2022 Did you know that in WA we are in Djilba season? From August to September we have the second rains, which fill the lakes and waterholes. The weather starts getting warmer (yay!) and its the season of conception - so all around the school we are hearing the call of the coolbardie (magpies) looking for a mate. Babies will be born soon and then well have to watch out for those coolbardie parents as they swoop down to protect their babies! Do you have a favourite noongar season?

19.01.2022 A friendly reminder that our students dont return to school until Wednesday. Today and tomorrow our hard-working staff will be getting ready for Term 3. Enjoy your last couple of days of holiday time!

18.01.2022 What a week we have had regarding our Traffic Management Group! This week the TMG highlighted National Road Safety Week and our staff got involved by making a pledge to drive so others survive by writing their pledge on a post-it and displaying it in the staffroom. Through a grant, the TMG had signage made and displayed around the school reminding our community of being safe on the roads. On Tuesday, the newly appointed Road Safety Commissioner for WA, Mr Adrian Warner visi...ted our school on Thank a Traffic Warden Day and, along with our Sustainability Captains, presented certificates to the school traffic wardens in appreciation for their great work. On Wednesday, the TMG attended the Department of Transport Your Move 2020 Awards which celebrate the success and achievement of local governments, workplaces and schools championing more walking, riding, cycling and public transport. The Awards were presented by the Hon. Rita Saffioti, Minister for Transport and Planning. The TMG were awarded the Innovate Award for their initiative and creative approach to promoting active transport. On Friday the TMG hosted a morning tea for all the outside agencies they have worked with this year who have supported their work in actioning the Traffic Management Plan. We thank the City of Stirling, the Department of Transport, the Road Safety Commission, and the Department of Education for their ongoing support. Remember, staying safe on our roads is important every day - please drive safely and be courteous and kind on our roads. #NRSW #Drivesos #Savinglivestogether See more

18.01.2022 Look at the incredible writing from our Kindy students! Super proud of each and every one of them as they practise their letter formation. Happy Friday!

16.01.2022 Have You Filled a Bucket Today? is hands down one of the best books to learn about kindness and self-worth. Everyone carries with them an invisible bucket which has one purpose: to hold good thoughts and feelings about yourself. Your bucket can be full or it can be empty. Everyone can be a bucket filler (eg. showing care and kindness) or a bucket dipper (eg. being mean or ignoring someone). We like to think at MLPS we have many bucket fillers! A perfect example of this ...is our P&C and school community who provided lunch for our staff on our School Development Day. Our staff didnt know this was happening so it was a wonderful surprise to walk into our undercover area, which was beautifully decorated and had soft music playing. AND such delicious food - YUM! Our buckets (and our tummies!) were definitely filled! How lucky are we? We hope someone fills YOUR bucket this week and that you also take the opportunity to be a bucket filler. Happy Monday! 15.01.2022 We celebrated NAIDOC week with two incredible performances - Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse performed for the whole school on Thursday. Gina is the composer of Wanjoo the welcome song we sing each week at assembly. Gina and Guy were very impressed with our students beautiful singing! On Friday, Mr Gasper came to play the didgeridoo and talk about how didgeridoos are made. The students had lots of fun trying to guess all the animal sounds Mr Gasper could create! Students also created message stones this week in art. The finished stones are now in the gardens around the school.

14.01.2022 Wishing everyone in our school community a wonderful long weekend! Stay safe on the roads if youre travelling. See you all again on Tuesday!

14.01.2022 Happy Friday! Take a look at some our gorgeous Year 6 Art. We have some budding artists in our school for sure!

14.01.2022 Great excitement this afternoon! Senior Sport is back at Hamer Park! Students are so happy to head to the big oval to play some sport and enjoy really stretching their legs. Happy days!

14.01.2022 Some gorgeous Year 2 art from Mrs Trumpers room. Great job, everyone!

13.01.2022 The sun was shining as scooters, skaters, walkers, riders and bladers poured through the school gates for our second Ride 2 School event for the year. This event coincided with a visit from the Minister for Transport and Planning, Rita Saffioti who announced the launch of the Your Move school grants program. As a Your Move school, we are looking forward to being a part of this grants process. Thanks to the Traffic Management Group for their amazing organisation of the day a...nd to the Department of Transport Your Move who supplied fresh fruit, yoghurt and stickers for the students. Thanks to Carol from The Little Retro Rascal coffee van and to all our staff and students for such a great morning! And of course, we must give a huge shout out and thank-you to Mr Brodie, Mrs Brodie and Callum Brodie, for setting up the super-fun obstacle course and to our Faction Captains and Vice Captains for their assistance on the course. Once again we are reminded of what a wonderful school community we have. Happy day, everyone! See more

13.01.2022 Welcome to Monday! What better way to welcome back all our students then with bubbles?? The sun is shining, the bubbles are floating and most of our kiddies are back at last. All is well in our world. Hope you all have a great day!

13.01.2022 Year 3 students showing off their coding from Mrs Hawkesfords Digital Technologies class to design games. Had to laugh when one student went to make a multiplayer game and found the coding quite complex - he had a rethink and decided NOPE he might come back to that another day!

12.01.2022 Some rain and grey to start our Pre-primary Sports Carnival today but that didnt stop any of our excited PPs! With mums, dads and grandparents cheering from the sidelines, our little humans did their best in a range of events (we think the sun even came out for a little bit). Faction sports over for another year and what a lovely way for it to end!

10.01.2022 The plaintive cry of our junior primary students last term was, Is it Investigations today? Unfortunately due to COVID, we had to dismantle our play-based classrooms to return to rows of desks. While this was necessary to keep us all safe, it was hard on our little ones. Were SO happy to have Walker Learning return this term and the kids are just beyond excited to return to Investigations. Play-based learning encourages oral language, critical thinking, conflict resolution and higher order thinking skills (just to name a few!) Here are some of the Investigation areas in the Pre-primary classrooms. We love to play at MLPS!

10.01.2022 The Year 5s have been making models of the Solar System. We have been in awe of how many different ways they have been presented. Well done, Year 5s - you are out of this world!

09.01.2022 We are celebrating Education Assistant Appreciation Week. We are so grateful to have our incredible EAs working with our students each and every day. Thank you, Mrs Praetz, Mrs Annesley, Ms Stott, Ms Neretlis, Mrs Sara, Mrs Wilson, Mrs Tan, Mrs Gobby, Mrs Gunning, Mrs Maiden, Mrs Humble and Mrs Ridgway. We dont know what we would do without you and your fantastic expertise! Please show your appreciation by leaving them a thank you message below.

09.01.2022 Excitement is building as we prepare for the grand opening of our new school canteen next Wednesday. We cant wait for Mrs G to roll up the shutters and start service at BELLS. Today we had a sneak peek at whats to come. 5 sleeps to go!

07.01.2022 Hey look, Ms Monck! Its a rainbow! Love that our Year 6 students still get excited when they see a rainbow in the sky. Its a great day.

07.01.2022 Another glorious day weather-wise for our Faction Cross Country for Years 3-6. Thank you to everyone who participated in this day - to Mr Cruz and Miss Roberts for their amazing organisation, to Mr Howard for his guidance and expertise, to all the staff along the course and in the bays, to our awesome parent helpers, parent spectators and of course, our fabulous kids! So delighted to hear that some of them ran a personal best this year or met their own personal goal. It was fantastic to see such great sportsmanship and grit. Congratulations to RED faction, who won the day. It was a thrill for the Red Captains and Vice-Captains to hold the mighty shield!

07.01.2022 Its a happy Monday today for sure! Which one of our gorgeous junior primary teachers got engaged on Saturday??

07.01.2022 A HUGE thank you to the City of Stirling for extending our Kiss n Drive on Second Avenue! This is thanks to all the work behind the scenes with our Traffic Management Committee (TMG) who have worked in partnership with the City. A reminder that our Kiss n Drive is one way only and parents/carers must stay in their cars when doing drop off and pick up, to keep the traffic flowing smoothly. Stay safe on the road!

06.01.2022 We have never seen so many of our students on bikes, scooters and skateboards! Thanks to the Traffic Management Group (TMG) for the positive messaging and initiatives that have encouraged these activities. Almost as awesome as the riding is the incredible head gear! Weve had reptiles, monsters and Mohawk helmets galore. Loving that these precious people are being protected as they ride. Keep up the great physical activity!

04.01.2022 The sign is up! One more sleep to go and Bells is open for business!

03.01.2022 Today is World Teachers’ Day! We wish each of our incredible teachers joy and good health as they go about the job they love. Special thanks for all that they do on a daily basis to keep our students at the centre. Our beautiful P&C helped us celebrate by providing the most wonderful morning tea - making the teachers feeling really valued. Thank you P&C and event planner extraordinaire, Cynthia and helpers, and Mandy and baby Timothy! We are very grateful for all that you do. #brightfuture #aitsl #grateful

03.01.2022 We finished Term 3 with a splash of colour! Our wonderful P&C organised the 2020 Colour Run and the weather approved! All students from K-6 ran the course, moved through the obstacles and tried to dodge the pesky volunteers who just kept that colour coming! Thank you to Brooke and Tiff for a fantastic day. The staff and students had a ball and it was the perfect way to end our super-busy term. Happy holidays!

02.01.2022 Happy Monday everyone! One of our teachers has had an awesome start to Monday with an early morning proposal to start the week! Guess who?

01.01.2022 Thank you most sincerely to all of you who are keeping your kiddies home if they are unwell. We cant tell you how much we appreciate all the coughs, colds, runny noses and sore throats being contained, especially in these challenging times. We really appreciate you letting us know you are keeping your little ones home, not only out of concern for them but also out of concern for the school community as a whole. This is our school value of Respect in action! Thank you.

01.01.2022 Our mighty, magnificent and WILD Book Parade!! Thanks to Mrs Brodie for her amazing organisation - we had a BALL! Thanks to all our mums, dads and carers for all their work with the costumes. Our students looked incredible and what a range of books we all read!

01.01.2022 A reminder: tomorrow is Walk to School Day! Looking forward to seeing you all on foot as you walk your way to school...

01.01.2022 Welcome to Monday! A new week, with new adventures. Hope you all have a happy day!
