24.01.2022 The older one doing his school work - investigating how butter is made. Our sore arms from shaking the bottle for 15 mins

23.01.2022 Byfield national park - very stunning! Endless beaches and sand dunes galore we really didn't want to leave! We spent 4 nights here at national park camp at $6.95 per person per night with toilets and a cold outdoor shower it was a great base to explore the park. We were also excited we saw not one but three turtles on this beach We are now parked up in Rockhampton at the discovery park making most of the pool before we head further south tomorrow

23.01.2022 Loving the Silo art we are finding!

21.01.2022 Those hailstones were huge! We pulled over as we couldn't see a thing and didn't want a broken windscreen

21.01.2022 Our first camp along the PDR was Morehead freecamp - beautiful camp site with lots of fishing and some swimming in the river done by all - did enjoy our company with some freshwater crocodiles

20.01.2022 We feel extremely privileged to see this in our life time - two turtles mating This is by far the best thing in our trip hands down! What a experience for the boys to see at such a young age

20.01.2022 Update on our car - a new injector pump is needed! Bugger not a very cheap exercise maybe no wine this week

17.01.2022 Hey Folks ..... We are BACK!!! Been a while we know but that thing called life got in the way and next thing we know it's been 3 years since our last post! Please accept some flooding of posts and all new data in the next few weeks

16.01.2022 Vic High Country! Wow Wow Wow!! Amazing place and this was just the first spot we got to. We camped at the many free camps avaliable in the high country Alphine Forest, Davons Flat. Right next to the river - fresh water running off MT Buller, very peaceful with drop toliets avalible and fire pits. We spent 3 nights while exploring around,... We came across wicked 4wd tracks, Craigs hut - Hut used in the Man from snowys river movie, burnt down in 2008 but rebuilt by voulnteers, amazing views of MT buller with a little bit of snow still on top, even a waterfall! The weather even turnt it on for us with very warm days perfect for dipping in the river. more to come of part two - we ventured into the Jamieson national park

16.01.2022 So we have been a bit quiet lately - for a good reason don’t stress! We are now back at base as we call it our van. We decided to call back here and unload and load back up again for our last leg of this amazing trip back to our home state Tassie After pulling a couple massive days going through all our stuff we left in the van, donate and selling most of it (secretly I think it’s a tonne lighter now! ) we moved onto the camper and the car..... this is a 45L bucket. T...his is just what came out of the passenger door pocket, under the seat, glove box and centre console The poor car is probably breathing relief as well..... with all the red dust swept up to

15.01.2022 Our first mishap from the PDR - nothing like some creative bush mechanics on the side of the road

14.01.2022 They were all good children today so I awarded them with Ben and Jerrys ice cream (Mel has secretly been itching to find one of these stores.... she finally found one!)

14.01.2022 I suppose we have to keep up with some traditions..... day 1 and already fixing something on the side of the road!!

14.01.2022 Why Hello there Tassie back after a few years! Bring on the next several weeks

11.01.2022 Our next stop was Wepia.... we scored a beachside spot which gave us stunning views all day long! We treated ourselves to a town and local mine tour which was the best one we have been on! Kids thoroughly enjoyed learning about the history of Wepia and the local mine and their operations. Cheeky selfies Max delighted my camera roll with

10.01.2022 Tip of Australia!!!

10.01.2022 *** Hello Victoria ***

08.01.2022 As you may already know we homeschool our kids whilst travelling around. We haven't formally enrolled our youngest Max into formal schooling program, choosing to keep him back until he is 6 next year. But that doesn't mean we still don't learn as we go - here Max has been learning all about the alphabet and how they are used to make words. We were getting way to clever for paper and pen and writing our name. His challenge was to find other resources other then a pencil or crayon to write his name. I think he nailed this task hands down!

07.01.2022 After a couple long drives we definitely needed some RnR in Carins! After stocking up on some supply's we made our way North

07.01.2022 A bit slow with our updates this week.... We left sunny Arlie Beach on Tuesday morning after a few hiccups with lighting and in the end needed a whole new brake light! We made the short drive to Mackay and checked out the water park! This is our fifth one on our trip so far and it was a beauty! Three massive pools with water slide, kids section and all FREE!!! We camped at the local caravan park but not before we checked out the marina. It's built out in sea and you can driv...e right to the end. We did try some fishing that night but as usual only lost out gear The next day we went further south to find Cape Palmerston national park but not before we stopped in Sarina and found Buffy the cane toad. And you can't go here and not head into the sugar cane plant! It's the only one left that does tours and shows you how sugar cane is crushed and made. We sneaky snuck in some of there famous ice cream - rocky road, Mango sherbet and chic cherry they literally taste like there names! Dave also had to taste some of there rum We made it to Cape Palmerston surprised to find we had the whole camp to ourselves! We fished and this is where dave broke his toe then next day got something caught on the other toe on opposite foot he does do the wobble quite well Million dollar views and terrific weather we throughly enjoyed this park

07.01.2022 Vic high Country take 2 - Jamieson state forest. Now this has to be hands down in our top 5 camp spots so far! Wide open space with trees for shade, fire pits with wood, toliets, fresh water river and best of all FREE! ... And again the weather turnt it on for us we had a lovely few days here relaxing after our epic 4wd driving getting in here. You can access this camp from Jamieson but we dont do things in half and accessed from over the ridge of alphine state forest as we do ;) We are all extremly excited, our wait is nearly over bring on the big red boat bright and early tomorrow morning- We head back to our home state of Tassie!

06.01.2022 I've had a lot of people over the years travelling ask us how the hell we do soft floor camper camping?! All that pack up and down seem like a lot of work! Well it is in a way but it also has the benefits as well. It takes up longer but we have soooo much more room than a caravan or hard floor camper. We are rather light at just 1140kg. We can set up on most surfaces apart from tar/road and it doesn't necessarily need to be spot level to do so. We can fit a lot of stuff on t...op which is a added bonus! I thought I haven't shown you how we pack it all in and tell you how long it takes. Now I'm not very tech savvy so I didn't share our film of us actually packing it up way too long just to watch us sweat it out so I'll just share the times it takes and the photos. I've put all details on the pics below of our set up in camper trailer. Now all this stuff we have we actually use all of it a couple things we could not take but when stopped for work it's nice to have a little comfort with us. Golden rule in any set up of you can use items for more then one thing then you can keep it! Times: to set up of course takes no time at all! All in 10 minutes it's up and we are relaxing with a beer 20 mins if we choose to put up our awning. packdown however takes abit more time - if we have absolutely everything out after a few days in one spot including the awning and walls it takes a flick under 2hrs that's to hooked onto car. If we only do our quick set up which is usually a one night set up where we only set up camper, bags stay in car, tubs of stuff stay in camper we just lift up base and use only our chairs it takes us 30mins to hooked up onto car. Our awning does zip off which when we were up the top end we didn't use very much at all it was taken off. Now we are on the east and the weather is dodgy we leave it zip on and just flip it over to use if needed. Now we do admit at times we get rather over it but we have been to so many places in it that we wouldn't dream of taking a van it just makes us happy again! It can be done in a soft floor you just have to get over the effort and get stuck into it We also have a Jayco caravan we use for a base and is stored in Nsw at my sisters place. We have done half half in each camper and van.

06.01.2022 We absolutely can’t recommend Tamworth diesel care enough! They rushed our car in to see the exact problem last week when we arrived and promptly went about fixing it as wasnt drivable from that point. Got parts quickly and not only replaced all the rusty bolts (oops! ) they kept us in the loop at every point! As you can see from our dyno states - red was last weeks results Blue was yesterday’s results we had a very sick car We are already impressed with the power it has... and can’t wait to see what this does to our litres of fuel when towing. Whilst we have been carless we stayed at Big 4 Tamworth - very central only 2 min walk to woolies and Dans place, huge camp kitchen with ovens and massive TV. Pool and playground also came in handy Top spot Tamworth definitely can’t wait to come back and explore your festival one day

03.01.2022 Glorious rain after 7 months of no rain at all it's making a good point of washing off all the red dirt for us! We got it all set up just in time how lucky!!

02.01.2022 Our first stop was Cunnamulla QLD - small outback town with approx 1000 residents. Found some silo art in town which represents the history of the town. This little quant town is also home of the country song sung by Slim dusty written by Stan Coater - The Cunnmulla Fella!

01.01.2022 Great day today.... waiting for a tow truck. Looks like we have some dirty fuel or picked up some water in a fuel line. Water in the filter, changed over with our spare one and still mis firing, better be safe then sorry this is why we pay for insurance. Will update once we get into town Armidale.

01.01.2022 I was a little confused this morning when I realised my post about hitting the state of NSW three days ago didn't post! So everyone we are in NSW We camped at beautiful Ballina again our third time here, absolutely love that place! After so looong without rain it really does seem to be following us.....like a bad smell! We packed up quick smart to beat it and headed inland where we thought we would miss it all..... apparently not ... Watched it build for a while, just outside Grafton after passing Through With these stunning purple blossoms all along the streets, we were climbing up the ranges it hit us with hail as a delighted measure (will post short video of the intense stones hitting the car!) All wet and really not wanting to set up again in the rain and in the bush as planned we drove to the next town of Glen Inns and by hold the almighty we found this! Showgrounds with under cover yay yay yay and at only $20 for power as well we are grinning ear to ear on our freezing faces because it's like only 10 brrrrr but we are dry
