The State Government recently made the Residential Rental Grant Scheme available to eligible temporary visa holders including international students. A once-off rental grant of up to $1,000 is available for residential landlords who reduce the rent of a tenant experiencing rental hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic.... To be considered as being in rental hardship, a residential tenant must be significantly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, have less than $5,000 in savings and pay more than 30% of their current income in rent. This includes immigration quotas and other updates, learn more below: Global Talent, Business visas and employer sponsor visas will be prioritised.... - The allocations for the Global talent visa were 5k last year, and now 15k. - A Government Taskforce will be established to attract more international business and talent. Onshore Partner Visas: - Will be prioritised, especially if the sponsor lives in regional areas. - Family Stream was increased from 47,732 to 77,300 - New changes to partner visa are not confirmed when or if will be introduced. (If changes are approved, the sponsor will need to be approved prior to the application) Introduction of English language requirement for Partner Visa - Applicants and PR Sponsors. (Only if changes are approved) New Zealand Pathway (Subclass 189) - Will receive priority processing - The requirements has been reduced from 4 years out of 5 years to 3 years out of the 5 years to meet the threshold income requirements VAC (Visa Applicant Charge) - Immigration is introducing visa application charge refunds and waiving to some visitor or temporary visas. More information to be released by the department. Work Holiday Australia definitely needs Working Holiday Visa Holders. Visa application charges will be waived once borders reopen. GSM State Nomination: - The Department is prioritising the on-shore applications. - Government has not made any announcements regarding to the State/Territory allocations yet. - The ceiling for the GSM is decreased. Occupation Lists - Lists will not be changed until March 2021. The list is expected to be decreased. 09.01.2022 The Department of Home Affairs has commenced the month of September with a spring in its step by announcing increased requirements for labour market testing for all sponsoring employers and in addition they announced the Priority Skilled Occupation list (PMSOL). This covers 17 occupations that will allow temporary migrants to enter Australia with an automatic travel exemption, albeit with a 14 day quarantine requirement on arrival. The occupations are primarily in the indus...tries of health care, construction and IT as follows: The 17 occupations (ANZSCO code) are: Chief Executive or Managing Director (111111) Construction Project Manager (133111) Mechanical Engineer (233512) General Practitioner (253111) Resident Medical Officer (253112) Psychiatrist (253411) Medical Practitioner nec (253999) Midwife (254111) Registered Nurse (Aged Care) (254412) Registered Nurse (Critical Care and Emergency) (254415) Registered Nurse (Medical) (254418) Registered Nurse (Mental Health) (254422) Registered Nurse (Perioperative) (254423) Registered Nurses nec (254499) Developer Programmer (261312) Software Engineer (261313) Maintenance Planner (312911) There are no changes at this stage to any other skilled occupations lists for any other visa sub-classes. Note also that many states have yet to open their occupation lists and as yet the government has not announced when they can recommence issuing invitations for the 190 and 491 visas.
