22.01.2022 Final reminder to register for Round 4 - April 14 (this Sunday). Looks like a good day. Quite a lot have already registered. Happy for spectators or first time racers to come and give it a try.... Thomas Bitmatta track. Thomas Bitmatta is a world champion drone racer and 2 times Australian national champion. I strongly encourage some sim practice if you can as this track, although not complicated, is quite challenging. Regular/Rookie in the morning. Super class after lunch. 21.01.2022 Vale Arc Wolfie It is with deep regret that we inform everyone of the passing of former MMRC member Arc Wolfie. Arc was a great character - well known in the Melbourne quad flying scene and one of the very first MMRC members. ... Our thoughts are with his family and 3 young children.

20.01.2022 Quick announcement, Race rounds 4 and 5 are moving from their originally scheduled weekends. Round 4 will be Nov 3 (cup weekend). Round 5 will be Dec 8.... Round 4 was going to be Oct 20, but Australian Nationals are on that weekend in Canberra and it takes priority.

18.01.2022 Quick post on the results of todays Nationals Major Qualifier for MMRC at GMAC. Well done Thomas Bitmatta, for showing us all how to do the impossible with an amazing 27.25s for 3 laps. Sam Heeps 2nd, Granger Woolley 3rd, Rhett Mooney 4th.... Some very impressive times in there. These qualifying times will be lodged with the Nationals Committee. I know many will be looking to improve on these times over coming qualifiers.

17.01.2022 As a new race year commences, I need to take some time to post a special thank you to some members of MMRC what have decided not to continue in a leadership role going forwards. The most recent thank you goes to Fred Butcher. Fred had been instrumental in the shaping of the club. Fred provided enormous expertise in the audio and visual setup of the club (the sound system and the multi-channel ground station receiver we use on race days). He helped out every race meet with B...BQ and assisting others. He also was a regular at the Tuesday night flying at the fort. Fred's assistance and expertise will be missed. Last year saw a significant shift in the club as we moved our primary field from Knox to Greensborough and partnered with GMAC. Partially to relieve cost pressure and partly to provide some geographic diversity from the other strong FPV club in Melbourne. Consequently there has also been a significant re-focusing of the club to higher performance, but still friendly and welcoming FPV racing. This move to Greensborough signalled a "changing of the guard" so to speak, with 4 of the 7 committee members starting last year choosing to relinquish roles for various personal reasons: - Darren French - Steven Sewell - Matt Tynan - Fred Butcher The MMRC club is thankful and stronger for their contributions. The club is much smaller for their choice to not continue, but no less committed to FPV flying and racing at all levels.

15.01.2022 Just a quick post with 3 lap times rankings from today: ** NOTE this is currently full race times, not 3 lap times post to post ** ** It will take time to re-extract the information from livetime and collate **... Summary is in the Melbourne Multirotor Racing Club Inc - 2019 Scoring Sheet: https://docs.google.com//1w3YEAxuJ9c2FNHYbRnZXjXuH6GL_TFUB For the summary I removed obvious mis-reads (were recorded pilots times that made up the 3 lap total were inconceivable). 14.01.2022 Revised timings from yesterday. It now incorporates all times (including the practice times). Takes times from post to post, not from start siren.... Times that were obviously out were removed. Sorry to all for the confusion. 13.01.2022 Quick post on Today race (Round 1 2019 Winter season). Awesome days racing. Weather was kind and allowed good racing of James' designed track. Challenging, but not too complicated. Thomas dominated the largest Super class we have seen in a while. Great performances from Granger and Sam saw them take 2nd and 3rd respectively.... Troy managed to steal 1st place in Regular in the last final. Mark who had been consistent throughout the day came in 2nd. 3rd was shared by Di and Joe (unable to be separated by points). There were some great head to head battles throughout the day. Notably Di, Troy and Neil. Also the multi-midairs of Thomas and Mooney in a single race. Attached are the race results. More photos to come soon.

13.01.2022 Wrap up of Round 5. (November Round 4 still yet to be run - planning for next year in January, but date not set yet). Gorgeous day for racing. Good fun flowing track by Gabe Barrasso. Thank you to all those who helped set up and stayed back to pack up. Thanks too to Neil and Di for marshalling the A division, and Alex (dirty) for keeping the B Division on track. Thank you to Neil and Pieter for the BBQ.... A Division was won by James, with Gabe a worth second (came down to the last race of finals). The Josh managed third, only just holding off his brother Noah in forth. Ken managed 5th, and unfortunately Jamie (Bizz) who had been flying great all day lost his last quad in the first race of finals and ended up in sixth. B Division was very close at the top end with Joe, Mark and Troy in a 3 way battle for supremacy. Mark flew well all day and was ahead after the heats, but Joe managed to out fly the competition to take first in finals. Mark and Troy had to make do with equal second. Di maintained her forth position relegating Pieter to 5th and Neil to 6th. Complete results are available from: https://docs.google.com//1CVShb76SzXh4CvefqzQbpzuwGOhoyIKU

12.01.2022 LIVE FROM 8:15PM ADST This weeks round of the Australian Velocidrone Racing Championship is being raced at MMRC! Come watch Australia's best sim pilots scream through the pits and tear though the carpark! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LiYkOaGst9k

12.01.2022 Brief wrap up of Round 4. Awesome track designed by Thomas Bitmatta. Really tested the skills of all who competed. Many Thanks to those who came early to help set up. Special shout out's to Ken Peart for organising the track set up and repairing anything destroyed by quad impacts (like the dive gate), Neil de Vries, Fred Butcher and Dianna Bartlam for keeping us fed and on track. Neil also for running the timing for Super class.... Rookies and Regular got the morning calm winds and showed that they can master flying what was a deceptively tricky and nail-biting track. There was a tie for 6th in regular after the heats so Dianna Bartlam and Neil de Vries needed to race off for a position in the finals. Congratulations to Mark Connolly for taking out the finals win in Regular class. Followed closely by Vern VT in his maiden run in regular (too fast for rookies). 3rd was Troy and Sebi Kounelis. Rookies 1st place was taken by Joe Crupi, wrestling it from CBOMB (Chris) who was first after the heats. This was despite the results of the heats contributing to finals points. 3rd was the steadily improving Richard Wiggan. After lunch, super class had a chance to show what speed was all about. Thomas Bitmatta did not disappoint clocking an insane 12.630 second fastest lap. When the dust has settled on an intense 3rd super class final, Thomas Bitmatta took 1st, Sam Heeps 2nd and Granger Woolley 3rd. Amazing day, great track, awesome racing. 11.01.2022 Race Calendar for 2020

09.01.2022 Great days racing Saturday. Great track by Alex ("dirty") with the tunnel testing skill and the quads testing the dive gate durability. Was the right decision to move to Saturday as it was warm, sunny and little wind. Perfect for racing. Thomas took out Super class (A grade) with Sam 2nd just edging out Granger in 3rd.... Oddly enough, fastest lap of the day goes to James Steel. In two separate heats he recorded a lap times faster than Thomas's best. However, no one can match Thomas for consistency though. Regular class (B grade) was less well subscribed with only 4 qualifying for final. Troy managed to hold off challenges by both Di and Joe who managed to take equal second. Chris was only 1 point shy both Di and Joe. Chris was unfortunate in that in the first run of final he crossed the line first, but equipment failure meant that that final needed to be re-run (was not recording his times and only recorded one of Joe's 3 laps). Looking forward to next month now.

09.01.2022 Membership fees are now due. Check your email for the renewal form and details. No email? Get in touch! Membership fees are now due. Check your email for the renewal form and details. No email? Get in touch!

09.01.2022 2021 Summer Season Round 1 Wrap Up A Division: With both BMSThomas and heepsy both finishing on 100 points and uewepuep hot on their heels, the final promised to be a cracker. Thomas took line honours with Godzilla staying consistent to take out 3rd place. B Division: Third Eye and Papa_C shared most of the wins in the afternoon with Third Eye prevailing in the finals. Sonic Shroom gets quicker by the week and took out the hole shot title for the arvo.... Excellent day of racing on a very fast track! Congrats to the winners and thanks to everyone who helped out. Next round: Round 2 February 07

08.01.2022 Thank you to all that turned up and raced on Sunday. Also helped set up, pack up and generally make it a great day. Just a quick note that the raffle with prizes generously donated by BMS Racing, Diana Bartlam and Ken Peart raised enough to purchase the desired ImmersionRC LapRF 8 way timer. (Which has now been delivered and tested).... As well as expecting less mis-reads and false reads, this enables MMRC to run Dan Vogel's Trackside FPV race timing software. Thank you all for your help and contributions. We also have a great track designed by Alex (dirty) for August's round (August 18). Look forward to seeing you all there.

07.01.2022 Congrats James - you showed everyone a clean set of heels in the A Division finals. Special thanks to Gabe for his great track design this round

07.01.2022 This weeks track is 'FlowRidah' by ArchmageAU. It was originally intended for Round 2 of the 2020 season but never used. Please note: We won't be including the dive gate this week. Video fly though: https://youtu.be/G_ka0LQSau8... Find it on Velocidrone by searching for 'MMRC - 2020 Race 2' or by author 'ArchmageAU'

07.01.2022 Wrap up of Round 5 race meet held Sunday. Congratulations to Dan Vogel for winning Super class, holding off Granger Woolley who finished in 2nd with the TQ lap time for the day and the ever present James Steel taking 3rd. The top 3 were equal first after the heats. There was also a late charge by Rhett Mooney who managed to overtake Luke Godeassi, but not enough to close the gap on the leaders. Congratulations too to Liam Bullard for taking Regular class by clean sweeping t...he finals. Liam managed to hold off Mark Connolly who impressivley pulled up from 6th in the heats to second in the finals and Sebi Kounelis who had top score after the heats. Troy and Vern managed to tie in 4th relegating the now consistent Neil de Vries into 6th. The rookies did amazingly well, flying in heats with the regular class finishing 7th, 9th and 10th. Meester See managed the finals series well enough to take the division on the day. Richard Wiggan found some late form and consistency placing in 2nd. Joe Crupi , after winning the heats, had a bad run in the first 2 finals and despite winning the 3rd did not have enough points to regain the ground lost. MMRC Summer Season final placings: Super class: 1st - James Steel 2nd - Ken Peart equal 3rd - Thomas Bitmatta, Alex Kyriakopoulos Regular Class: 1st - Troy Sunderland 2nd - Sebi Kounelis 3rd - Jeroam Whittington Rookie Class: 1st - Joe Crupi 2nd - Meester See 3rd - Richard Wiggan Thank you again to Ken Peart for an excellent track and helping with wrangling the Regulars (they seemed better organized than the the Super class). Thank you Dianna Bartlam for dealing with the troublesome Super class and providing breakfast. Neil de Vries for running the timing for Super class and Lunch (and organising to allow MAAA members th opportunity to test for power wings). Fred Butcher too for cooking/serving lunch. Thank you too to all those who helped set up and pack up. Running an event is a huge team effort. The score and timing sheets is available for review at: The live streams are available for review at : https://docs.google.com//1w3YEAxuJ9c2FNHYbRnZXjXuH6GL_TFUB The Live streams are public at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JcEhLGcTlII - Super Class https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3An3PYe04Q - Regular Class (I apologies for the early video stream issues in Super class, where was an incorrect video cable which was fixed by qualifying round 5, then Livetime overlay failed and fixed by finals. - I need to teach Neil de Vries how to fix these issues :) ) too to Liam Bullard for taking Regular class by clean sweeping the finals. Liam managed to hold off Mark Connolly who impressively pulled up from 6th in the heats to second in the finals and Sebi Kounelis who had top score after the heats. Troy and Vern managed to tie in 4th relegating the now consistent Neil de Vries into 6th.

05.01.2022 Round 5 track fly through - it's fast and furious! Designed by Ken Peart. Available on Velocidrone. Got an idea for a track? Let us know.

05.01.2022 2021 Summer Season Round 4 Wrap Up: B Division: We saw Floppy Thumbs rockin new goggles and full of confidence. SonicShroom had his SharkByte kinks ironed out and looked dangerous. Third Eye was on the money all through the heats and kept a clean sheet into the finals. But when push came to shove, he couldn't keep it together and was out gunned by SonicShroom who popped his MMRC cherry and took the win - well done! A Division: Ironoid was also sporting the new SharkByte setu...p and flew solidly all day. Godzilla pushed BMSThomas to his limits all day but unfortunately crashed in the final snapping an arm and tearing off a motor. BMSPauly put in a good show flying well on the track he designed but it was the junior of the Bitmatta's that took line honours once again. Many thanks to everyone who helped out. Next round is the final round of the Summer season. Date to be confirmed.

04.01.2022 Great flying for the 2019 Nationals Minor qualifier today. Morning weather held out to allow many heats to be flown. Even when the rain did arrive, some die-hards chose to try swim their quads through the falling water.... First time using trackside too. Worked well, and will be using it for future events. Some hiccups, but next time will be smoother again. Times accumulated in the following sheet: https://docs.google.com//1zRXOwpYvMUp_jMxC5AiL4dBsZfWVJAG- Video of the day at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkkyfRPLSic Nationals Qualification Leaderboard: https://aufpv.org.au/leaderboard/

04.01.2022 * MMRC Reopening - Quick Update * Good news - start charging those packs! With the easing of restrictions by the Victorian Government, recreational flying is back on the cards. MMRC have been working closely with GMAC over the last week to ensure that all GMAC members and visitors have an opportunity to fly whilst adhering to safe social distancing recommendations. So stay tuned - we're planning to announce the first of a few MMRC practice days next week.... Details on maximum numbers, clubhouse facilities and social distancing to follow soon.

03.01.2022 IMPORTANT MMRC UPDATES Great news everyone - with The Victorian Government restrictions now eased, MMRC is back up and running! Weve got a few important updates to share:... 2020 RACING CALENDAR The COVID-19 lockdown effectively wiped out most of the Autumn Season - with only Round 1 having taken place. Weve decided that for the rest of 2020, the Autumn and Spring seasons will be combined into a single 6 round season. Results from Round 1 will stand and will contribute to the revised season. The next race day will be Round 2 on June 28th. Were also planning 2 special event days. A mid-season event on July 29th and an an additional end-of-year event to be held on December 6th. Details to be released closer to the dates. PRACTICE DAYS Formal practice days will now resume at GMAC and as per usual, will be announced here a few days before. Please note: While restrictions are still in place, practice days will only be available to GMAC members. We hope this restriction can be lifted soon. SOCIAL DISTANCING & CLUB FACILITIES For the time being, we will be limited to groups of 20 people at time on race and practice days. Race days will be divided into morning and afternoon sessions to manage numbers and ensure we stay within the 20 person limit. During this time, we request that non-flying visitors do not congregate in the pilot area. Please note: GMAC members - who fly at the north end of the pilot area - will be permitted their own group of 20 people. Everyone will be required to conform to minimum social distancing regulations of 1.5m where reasonably possible. Please be considerate of your fellow pilots! Hand sanitizer will be provided on race days however pilots are encouraged to bring their own. Unfortunately the club house and BBQ facilities will be unavailable until further notice. As restrictions are updated well make any changes necessary and ensure everyone is notified. MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS 2020/2021 membership renewals are due soon. We will post an update with further details in the next few days. We look forward to seeing everyone return soon and ripping packs!

02.01.2022 A quick reminder to everyone that Summer Season Round 4 has been rescheduled to tomorrow. Don't miss out on those late season championship points https://docs.google.com//1FAIpQLSdAk0kpOcO_m7xXf7/viewform
